New seasons were worth it just for The Late Phillip J. Fry. It's the best episode in the series.
Yup.

Didn't this show win a few Emmy's, just last year? Insanity. The best show in the history of television. Mediocre Futurama is infinitely better than anything else. What a bad news day. :(

Even if mediocre when compared to previous seasons, it's still better than most everything else on TV and I am sad that it's going away because nothing can replace it.

Ugh, this is awful news to me. I still loved the show, and I've enjoyed the episodes. It was worth coming back for Mr. Chunks alone, the two headed alien goat...

I think im pretty satisfied that its ending. Even it's worst episodes are still pretty watchable compared to something like the Cleveland Show.

I've enjoyed the newer seasons but am also glad they're bringing the show to a close. Let's not drag it out and witness a steep decline in quality. Go out on a high note.

Very likely. Family Guy still has a legion of passionate idiots supporters, whereas the Simpsons is widely seen as a joke nowadays.

Family Guy only does slightly better than the Simpsons on average during Sunday nights. Family Guy's advantage comes from massive syndication money, not any supposed passionate fans.

Meh.

I think I watched the first 6 episodes of the Comedy Central run. The writing definitely lost something in the transition. Most of the wit and intelligence had been sucked out of it. Haven't watched any episodes since.

Never should have been brought back. Never should have had those awful "movies". Never should have retconned Seymour. The revival was worse than Family Guy's revival.

futurama had a good run. i am glad it came back, and i got to enjoy several great episodes as a result. this doesn't hurt like when it was cancelled in 2003, although the devil's hands are idle playthings is one of the best finales ever.

Whenever I see someone chastising the Comedy Central run of Futurama, I suspect they probably haven't viewed more than an episode or two. And they certainly haven't watced "The Late Phillip J. Fry."

The direct-to-DVD movies suffer from jarring pacing, but the revival has been on par with previous seasons.

The original run of the series on Fox isn't infallible. There are several episodes that are mediocre (by the show's standards). But even when an installment of Futurama falls flat, it's still better than the majority of animated programming.

Futurama is sharp, endearing, and has heart; all while interspersing flatulance, social commentary, booze, and sci-fi tropes with humor. It's something a series like Family Guy will never grasp, despite its painfully protracted run.

I'm happy with the series. It's great that the creators had a chance to return and dole out a few more seasons worth of material. I'll tune in and be content with these final 13 installments.

yup.

It took a while for the writers to get that futurama feel back but once they did, shit was really good. The movies were really uneven, people judging the new seasons based on those movies clearly didn't watch the new seasons. This thread is full of people admitting they didn't watch most of the new content but claiming it wasn't as good? O...k...

It seemed like every new episode I watched tried really hard to have a twisty, "emotional" ending to the story like Luck of the Fryrish, Jurassic Bark, The Sting, etc. It works when you do it every now and then, but not every episode.

Not sad to see the show go again. Sadly, it really never could live up to the first four seasons.

I like The Late Phillip J. Fry as much as the next guy, but it isn't even the best episode of the new seasons, let alone best episode of the show

Newer episodes where nowhere as good as the old series, but there were a couple of gems here and there, and overall was a good thing to have it around.

Won't bang my heads because they canceled it though.

The new episodes were fine.

The concept just wasn't fresh anymore.

The worst part is that now this means we'll never get an episode focused on Fry's mother. It would have been nice to have one about her, after Luck of the Fryish and the one about his dad last season. She never really seemed to care about Fry or Yancey, so it would have been interesting to see how they would have redeemed her.

maybe she has one this season?
