consider this one of (if not the) obligatory first bitching posts of this thread. I expect all PC gamers in this thread to salt their margaritas with my console bitter tears:
I actually don't mind exclusive games. I think it's good for competition, gives each system more of an individual 'identity', and all that jive. I do, however, have a pretty big problem with
exclusive DLC, which benefits some people and punishes others- all owners of the same product. In a business sense I can see it- you make a title cross-platform, reap the benefits from all directions, then ink a deal with one for more content and make even more money. I guess I just get frustrated for being on the crap end of the deal this time- but even if things were the other way around, I'd feel bad for people who bought this game and aren't getting/won't get the chance to expand this awesome game.
Granted, some of the blame falls on me for not doing the proper research and purchasing the version set to be beefed up over the course of the next year (I own both a PS3 and 360; chose the PS3 because I prefer the controls), but I still think it's a lousy practice.
Bethesda would have my money (as they did with Shivering Isles) in an instant, but I refuse to rebuy the game on another system just for supplemental material that everyone who bought the game should have the opportunity to experience.
This, along with 'already on the disc' micro-transactions (SCAMCO, I'm looking at you), are two of the ugliest new additions to gaming, in my opinion.
Fallout 3 is definitely a keeper for me, so I just have to hope, like with Oblivion, PS3 owners get this stuff somewhere down the line.
the G.E.C.K. sounds freakin' awesome for PC owners, though. Lucky devils.
