Lmao at "usually right"
Gaf didn't think either Brexit or trump had any chance of happening at all
Nah it's pretty hyperbolic most of the time. Relax. Live your life.
GAF's election night thread should be enough to dispel you of any idea that we, as a group, have any idea what we're talking about.
Yup, OP. These are the real smart guys of Gaf!
On the election point, the smarter users on Gaf are smart because they read a lot, all the information and evidence they were presented with pointed towards the idea that Clinton would win, if you're saying 'Brexit, lol!' then you definitely didn't keep up with the OT thread about it as people were extremely concerned because this was a direct vote and not subject to an electoral college or anything similar.
lol Get out of the gaf bubble once in a while, don't treat this place like it is anything like the real world or your social media (lolol). It's a damn video game message board that has been so highly moderated that it has become an echo chamber of a bunch of nutters driving each other into hysterics with their hyperbole. It's kinda funny to watch as an outsider...
Jesus Christ, really?
Five years on this site and I've come to the conclusion it it's probably going to be the death of me. I've found that ever since I joined and actually started paying attention to the news I live in constant fear. Why? Because unlike most other sites you people actually seem to know what you're talking about and are usually right. Sure, there are the hyperbolic statements but the general consensus on GAF is 9/10 correct and the general consensus around here has increasingly been "we are fucked". I'm not suicidal (too much of a damn coward anyways) I know there is always hope and for the most part I have a good thing going, but by GAF's logic there's practically no point in getting out of bed in the morning, because in the end my happy life will be taken away from by forces outside my control.
Look, I'm not going to take the higher stance of 'lol, gaf smart? No!' or 'It's all hyperbole, we'll be fine!' but discussing the negative in life often leads to a larger discussion almost everywhere and people can be drawn to the whole 'doomsday scenario' threads more than 'everything okay for second year running!' threads. They make people outraged, worried, annoyed and all the emotions that force you to respond.
The world is a nicer place than the news would have you think but the nice things aren't exceptional, they're the rule and hence we, the news and the internet tend to focus on the exceptional and that is, thankfully, usually negative.
Now, when horrible shit becomes so normal that we've all discussed it to death, you can feel down. Until then, please try and remember that the world is a generally good place filled with genuinely good people and the only reason we don't discuss it is 'of course they are'.
