Can access the site through my iphone, but nothing on PC. Also shows neogaf.com as down on downforeveryone.com

I'm on the west coast if that matters. Just cant seem to resolve the address.

Please help. I'm being forced into productivity against my will here. Shit is urgent.

I don't know what DNS my computer was using by default, but I had to switch to OpenDNS to access NeoGAF after whatever happened to it just now this morning. Everything's working fine now, though. *crosses fingers*

I have to post on my phone via 3G. I can access it on my computer using 64.91.233.250 but I can't login. Must be DNS

Shit is seriously fucked up.

I couldn't access neogaf.com, but only neogaf.net/forum and even then I couldn't log in (as soon as I logged in, GAF would log me out as soon as I go to another page).

Fixed it somehow by using OpenDNS, so I guess it's a DNS problem.

(Using Chrome, btw.)

Typing this out on my phone since I can't access GAF on my connection at all. Does anyone have a surefire way to fix this since I see others with the same issue?

i just got home and gaf wasn't loading. seems like it's not listed in my dns, even a ping returns no result

ping: cannot resolve neogaf.com: Unknown host

i live in Italy and i'm using my ISP dns (Tiscali)

right now i'm using a proxy to post this thread.

am i the only one with this problem?

ps: i didn't have any problem until one hour ago, this seems pretty weird...

We just had an emergency DNS switchover. Propagation will take some time, unfortunately. DNS is shitty and finicky in general. So GAF is up, but might appear down depending on who you use for DNS, for a while longer.

For the technological layman, such as myself, use OpenDNS as others have recommended. That rectified the problem.

Yup, just switched to that and it works great.

Thanks for the heads up. Was getting paranoid that my ISP was blocking GAF, those bastards :lol

What I don't understand is how is it possible that out of all my devices using the same network and dns only my PS3 can access neogaf, how is that technically possable? Why would different hardware make a difference? is the PS3 web browser proxied or something?

Old cache needs to expire on the other devices afaik. It takes up to 48 hours for the DNS to fully propagate worldwide.

GAF has been down for me for 11 hours, and it just now finally came back! I don't know what a DNS switch is, but I hope it never happens again. I went back to posting on GameFAQs today to get my forum fix for Christ's sake. You know how tough that was!? I never want to have to do that again...

OH GOD

GAF has been down since like this morning, I almost lost my damn mind.

AT&T you slow ass DNS updating sons of bitches...

Any way to hack spoiler or strike tags into the message reply modes? (I know this is a bit off topic). So far, no errors for me though.

What are these DNS changes people are doing to get around the problem? Only just managed to get on via my phone - anything on ny home network isn't working.

Why is GAF flickering on and off like a neon sign here? Once a DNS change is in place, shouldn't it work all the time without fail? Or are there still server problems?

(It's just crazy how many server problems still plague GAF. I've never seen a site with so many connectivity problems as this one)

Just an update for you guys:

The only problem i have noted so far is .net not login due cookies, i will try to fix that next week.

If you can't access to the forums (.com) is because your DNS are not resolving the correct IP.

So im not the only one who can only acess gaf via phone? I ve been trying since yesterday to acess it on pc/note but it doesnt even load. :/ is something wrong here or is it common/will be fixed?

I've had inconsistent gaf access from my phone for the past two days. I'm on holiday herw gaf!, what else an I supposed to do see the sites?

Not really a problem, but would it be possible to change the way quoted images work?

Right now as long as you click and hold on the image, it will expand to full size, but if said image is larger than my screen, then I won't be able to scroll up/down/left/right to see the image because i'll have to let go of the mouse button.

Switch to click toggle instead?

GAF just started letting me stay logged in. The 'remember me' check box remembers me: no more time-out boots. It's like I just got upgraded to GAF gold. Thanks Gromph!

I noticed that every machine I tried could get onto the site except for my main PC. I use OpenDNS's DNScrypt app on it, and it needed an update. But it still didn't work. So I turned off the DNS encryption for a second, and NeoGAF loaded up, even when I turned it back on, it still works.

I like this suggestion so I'll quote it for the new page (for the 50 post per page people).

Firefox users sort of have a work around, you can click and drag an image and it will remain expanded until you click again, and you can scroll using middle click without it resizing.

Of course that doesn't help those of us who don't use Firefox.
