Joe Six-Pack: posting for the common man
So what's up, last thread was 3 pages?

Spring has sprung lets see it.

Last few posts from the Q1 thread.

Official Camer Equipment Megathread. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144603
Adding the megathread because it seems like we're getting some new peeps in here.

One more from drift weekend

DSC08893-Edit by Derrek Barlow, on Flickr

So here's one from last summer that I finally scanned:

Field Vegetation by Cdammen, on Flickr

...and two new ones:

Malmö Elverk by Cdammen, on Flickr

Last Snow in Ystad by Cdammen, on Flickr

So the snow is finally gone (that last image was taken in March), and the sun is thawing my part of the country. It's time to get out and scout locations and/or points of interest!

I've been meaning to ask if anyone knows what Scythian Empire does with his color photos that give it that look. Is it all just with curves?

Awesome thread.

Question: Anyone have experience printing out their digital photographs? I'm not a photographer at all, but I want to decorate my new place with some art, and I thought printing my own photographs onto some canvases might be cool. Before I invest in a camera, I just want to know if I can make some good quality canvas art without spending too much money. I know nothing about cameras or photography. All I know right now is that I don't want a camera that is too bulky (pocket-sized) and I'd like to spend $200-$300 ($500 is my absolute max). In the end, I want to be able to print some B&W photos I've taken on canvases that can be as large as 24x24 or something. I've seen some sites that offer this service, but need to know the quality will be there.

camera equipment megathread is here. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144603

but i'll answer. You might want to look for a used Olympus PEN on that budget.

That said, for canvases those are pretty easy. pretty much all the labs do them well. WHCC, bay photo etc. Your gonna pay about 100 bucks for a 16x24. Maybe about 120 for 24x24. Unless you can get a livingsocial.

So damn good. What's the process with these?
Thank you.

It's a backlit bowl of water mixed with ink, marbling ink, vegetable oil and a little washing up liquid. I was shooting live action for this, but grabbed a few stills as I went along.

It was inspired by the creation scene in Tree of Life and the Stargate scene in 2001.

Some shots from yesterday.

Balanced rock from Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO.

If you look really close, you can see someone climbing this rock.

Hanging about Taiwan - brought my 7D, but hardly used it because travelling with a child makes it extra cumbersome.

So it's all iPhone photography! Posted some back in the Q1 thread, but it was already Q2.

Was pretty tempted to pick up an EOS-M here. I know it focuses slowly, but I think I could work around it. But even the retailers try to convince me against it! It's not very popular...

I pretty much gave up on photography a while back after realizing I simply don't have the eye for it, but this shot from over the weekend came out pretty nice:

You're crazy, Cosmic, you do have the eye for it. Maybe you're too self critical!

Something from me. Elated that spring is finally here...

Not only did I reacquire these cheap Kenko metal tubes but my NEX5N really lends itself to macro shooting with live view and swivel LCD. It was impossible to nail the focus with my Rebel XT and that tiny viewfinder.

Didn't realize there was a new thread...

I need to work on my sig. I like how it looks, but it gets aliased when I shrink it down. I'm using a gaussian blur right now so it's not too obnoxious, but it's still not right.

So I have around $3,500 to play with and want to expand my setup.

I'm using a 7D and 50mm 1.4, but it's limiting the work I choose to pick up.

What would GAF cop to reach into some more commercial work?

This thread (HERE) is more for that type of question and you are more likely to maybe get a response.

Such amazing photos. I'm a major newbie to photography. I hope you don't mind if I use your photos as inspiration and for ideas.

There was a Toy and Comic Convention this past Sunday, ended up taking some photos of an Elektra and Black Widow cosplay.
