I'll be taking over Secret Santa duties this year from distantmantra. I'd like to start a little early since this is my first time and help minimize any problems.

*The following is taken from last years thread*

In this thread I would like you to post:

A. Will you ship outside of your country. If you're unwilling to ship internationally, don't expect to get an international Secret Santa.
B. The country in which you reside
C. A brief list of things you might be looking for. Keep in mind we don't have to get something that is on this list. If you list video games, please list what systems and if you can play Japanese/US/European games.

The rules are no gag gifts. Gifts can be funny, just make sure they are useful in some way, you can buy a Shawn Michaels bobble head, but you cant buy a 24 pack of toilet paper, you know what i mean? $30 (US) or less is what were looking to spend here, but if you feel like being an extra special Santa you can go over that limit. Just don't expect someone to do the same for you! Gifts should be wrapped in some way.

The cut off point for signing up will be 10:00 pm PST on the 8th of November. I will send all assignments out through PM starting on the 9th (so make sure your inbox is clean!) And all packages must be shipped by the 15th of December. EARLIER IS BETTER. Please for the love of god send out your package so it gets there BEFORE CHRISTMAS! If you weasel out of your responsibility I don't have the authority to ban you for 2 months, but I'll speak with the mods! This isn't like the disc exchange! People are spending hard earned money to buy you gifts! So when you send your package, please post in this thread stating you have shipped out your present.

Also if you can, refrain from opening your present until Christmas day. On Christmas day I will start the Secret Santa present opening thread and we can all show off our gifts at the same time.

When you PM me your shipping information please include your full name, address and state and whatever information people will need to get the package to you. Last year we had some problems with the post office when people didn't have full names. I can't remember who, but something along the lines of the mailman not being able to deliver a gift for "sephiroth666" as they weren't registered as living at the address happened last year. When you send me your information i will give you a santa number for you to sign your package. An example would be:

Santa #41
1234 Radtageous Rd
Bucksnort TN, 39393

Send me your shipping information before November 8th. Also, don't be an asshat and get banned. It's really hard tracking you down if I can't PM you.

After the present opening thread ill post a list of who was what santa so you can properly thank your secret santa.

If you have any more questions post them in this thread, just in case i forgot anything.

All I have to say is, get in the Christmas spirit and please please please dont forget to send out your presents!

Do not send stuff that will:
A) get them in trouble with customs
B) might look suspicious and
C) might contain matterials not appropriate for certain age individuals.

So if you are under 18 please post and say that you are under 18.

Don't forget to PM me (Emenis) with your full name, shipping address, and email just in case you get banned!!

I'm down. Lets do this!!!!

Edit:I dont read instructions

Here is the needed info

A. Will Ship Internationally.
B. US
C. Have PS3(with backwards compat),360,wii,ds . I like stuff about computer security, gaming, gadgets. Blu-rays are always good. I am a gadget freak but i will be happy with anything.

I am computer engineering graduate student studying embedded system security if that gives you some insight.

Edit:
Also I am a big hiphop head

a) USA
b) I will ship internationally
c) I'm up for anything, but here are some ideas:

Misc.:Gundam, Macross, Votoms and Super Robot Wars stuff. I wear men's small t-shirts and I love baseball (particularly the Seattle Mariners and Nippon Ham Fighters).

Food stuff: Aero Bars, Mars bars, Hi-Chew, Haribo gummis and crazy flavored Fanta from all over the world.

Gaming:I'd love a PSN card from the UK or Hong Kong (really want Catan and Outrun!). A US PSN card would also work since I love getting new Rock Band songs. As for gaming systems, I can play Japanese/North American Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, DS and Gamecube games. I have a slight morbid curiosity in both 50 Cent: Blood on the Sands and Red Faction: Guerrilla, but I'd never buy them. The Dragon Quest DS remakes and/or SMT Devil Survivor would also be pretty sweet. If my SS has access to Japanese games, I'm also interested in the Gunbuster PS2 game and any of the J-Phoenix (JP) PS2 titles.

My DVD collection is available at http://distantmantra.dvdaf.com, I keep the wish list up to date.

Yay :D

A. U.S. and Japan only please
B. Japan
C. interesting iPhone 3G accessories; as for games, anything on any platform is okay, US or JP versions for the region-locked systems; Kindle books

Someone please make sure all the name-swapping is done perfectly. Last year or the year before, there was a rather amusing mix up. :D :lol

I'll do my best not to make the same mistake this year. :)

I was involved the last 2 years, might as well do it again in the hopes of not being overly disappointed with my gift. Then again, not everyone's as awesome as me.

A. Will ship internationally

B. Toronto, Canada

C. I love random electronics, musical devices, robots, vintage and vinyl toys and cool looking gadgets that actually serve a purpose. Ideally no tacky stuff though.
I own all 3 consoles, but hardly ever play them, so games might not be the best option. I have an interest in Red Faction: Guerrilla (360) and Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii) though but wouldn't buy them myself so if you can find them cheap...
Anything from my DVD/Blu Ray wish list would be great too.

Not interested in candy or clothing or books/posters.

I dunno. I own my own gallery/design store and stock most of the shit I've ever want to buy myself so I'm kinda a tough person to be imaginative with.

Will Ship Internationally
Canada
I have a DS, PSP, 360 and soon a Wii!

Here is my post from last year :lol "I like zombies, candy, incredible hulk, star trek, and theatre. Awesome gifts would be special things, like homemade stuff, unusual items from where you live(even weird things like local theatre programs), art, or other nic-nacs. However I'm not picky so will be happy with just about anything!" (Oh, an addendum, please no clothes)

Last year my Secret Santa got me a seashell art and a print of my favourite painting! Carnation Lily Lily Rose by John Singer Sargent. I have it hanging up in my room.

Hot diggity damn, it's that time again?

A. Willing to ship to either, but would prefer US.
B. Amurrica.
C. If you bought me the Battlestar Galactica complete UK Blu-Ray collection, I would worship you for life. Some of my simpler desires, however, are darkly humorous books, behind-the-scenes looks at how various media projects were made (see: Half-Life 2- Raising the Bar, etc), genuinely funny/cool/good-looking t-shirts (sized medium or large, but prefer M)... or just surprise me. As for games, I can play US-region anything (except for PS3), and my computer's good enough to play any PC title you'd throw at me. Just saying.

Id love to be in on the action, especially after having such fun with the candy swap.

I'm in the uk.

Willing to ship anywhere.

Would like absolutely anything. The concept of getting something cool / nice from a complete stranger is more than enough.

Count me in.

I will ship anywhere, I live in the United States (of America, no less), and know that the joy of the holiday season exists in the hearts of men and thus do not care what present you give me but only that you made the effort. *

(To point you in the right direction, I enjoy all manner of books, games, DVDs, and goofy domo-kun-type stuff.)

*That said, please note that in last year's Secret Santa, my Canadian Santa sent me an Xbox Live points card, not knowing that said card was useless in the United States.

Ok I'll bite!

A. Will ship anywhere, prefer international partner.
B. USA
C. Likes: Anything weird/unusual/cool. Gadgets. Survival/apocalypse type things. International candy. Cooking. Classic PC/NES/Famicom games (used is OK of course). I have a 360 and a DSi (both US). I prefer no clothes, and no heavy reading books (huge backlog already).

I am super easy to please, and just getting stuff in the mail is awesome. Looking forward to this!

A. Will Ship Internationally.
B. America.
C. Have PS3, PS2, DS, Wii, PSP, Gaming PC and 360.( I can only play PS3 region free games all others are locked down)
C. I love anything about BMWs, or MGs. I also love all strange trinkets and weird drinks/food. Also love rpgs on all platforms.

sweet, its that time again.

I'll ship anywhere

Germany

I like: anything cool/neat, stuff from your country, clothes, electronics, toys etc.. I own a ds, a ps2 and a wii(both pal). extra hint: Ild kill for a copy John O'Hara's novella "Andrea" (been trying to hunt that down forever)

I feel super-merry already

Awesome. I'd like to be in!

A. I'll ship anywhere
B. US of A
C. I would prefer any sort of gift that says something about where the person sending it is from. I have a hockey puck from Ottawa and an AC Praha cap that I count as some of my most prized possessions. Or not. Surprise me, I'm not picky.

Hopefully this'll work out...

A) Yes I'll ship internationally
B) USA
C) I own all 3 consoles, a PSP, a DSlite & DSi. I'm into MGS, Kingdom Hearts, FMA Brotherhood/FMA manga, Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, RE, and anything Ghibli for the most part, but I'm not terribly picky. If your shipping from anywhere outside of the US, feel free to include stuff from your home region. I'm also into books, candy, and t-shirts (I usually wear guy's L - or XL if it's international).

Oh, for my consoles, I also own a JP PS2 and play JP Wii & PS3 games as well.

A. Yes
B. USA
C. as far as consoles go i have ds, wii, 360, and ps3 but i don't play too many games. i like music and art, cutesy stuff but i'm not too much of a girly-girl. but really anything would be great!!! :)

A. Will ship internationally, preferably domestically Fuck it, I'm only shipping to the US.
B. USA
C. I game mostly on 360 but also have a PS3, DS, and Wii, though I mostly buy the games I want after they come out. My primary hobbies are [the brewing and drinking of] beer and listening to metal. Doesn't have to be VG related; surprise me!

Hmm, this seems interesting. I think I might do this later. I'll save this post for when I make up my mind.

A. Sure, international.
B. Canada
C. Anything for the 360 would be cool. Doesn't have to be VG related but if it is, make it 360 related :)

A. Will ship internationally
B. Norway
C. I have a PS2, PS3 and a DS. Not that I'd necessarily want a game, I'll take a DVD, book, a nice pen or close to anything really...

1- No
2- US
3- I have a PS3, Wii, Xbox 360. Blu-rays are welcomed :) I'm a big sports fan, Knicks, Yankees, Atlanta Falcons. Comic Book fan, especially graphic Novels.

Is shipping internationally through UPS hard? (I will need to know that before committing. There must be some reason why international shipping is frowned upon.)

When I ship internationally, I tend to go with flat-rate boxes by the USPS (if you're in the US) as it's a nice flat rate for whatever the hell you cram into the box. The downside is that if international post sucks, well, it's kinda hard to keep tabs on it without the tracking number.

I missed out last year, so I'm up for this.

A. Will ship internationally.
B. UK
C. I've got a full complement of consoles and I'm equipped to play games and DVD/BDs from any region, so no worries there, but I tend to buy most of the new releases and have a pretty big collection. My movie collection is kept up to date here. Also collect Transformers and accumulate gaming memorabilia. Read sci-fi, horror, fantasy, graphic novels, and I like interesting or cool movie posters. I'm well up for being surprised if you feel creative or have something particular to your neck of the woods in mind, though.

Do dirty Doujinshi fall under these :lol

Few quick questions. What if you would like to give someone a gift but not receive? How has people's experience been with it in the past. I always seem to pick up on this late and miss the cut off. Third, International shipping...What's the normal pricing outside of the NA market?

Hurrah! Count me in :)

A. Will Ship Internationally.
B. I'm in England
C. I need some new underpants. I am an XL. They can be classy, colorful, silly but wearable! No ladies undies please, well, maybe your sister's. Oh and I'm desperate for Space Ghost DVDs if you're feeling rich.

I'll give this a go.

A - Will ship internationally
B - UK
C - I've got a PS3 and PC if i were to receive a game, though really i'd like something from your local area or country that i couldn't really get, or i'd like the kind of gift you would by yourself for christmas.

Also, i have a few questions:
What are the rules about gifting things over steam, etc.?
What about sending alcohol to the US where someone might be under 21?

Swoot, was waiting for this!

A. I will ship anywhere!
B. USA
C. I own DS, PS3, and Wii. I am always open to new games, just no sports stuff please. I would not mind Bowsers Inside story for DS! :X Im over 18. I am also interested in Green Lantern Toys, so Blacknest Night DC Direct toys would be appreciate please :p or the new FullMetal Alchemist Play Arts! Also Blu rays are always great!
I will appreciate anything you guys give me since itll be awesome to get a gift from someone who I do not know! Thanks!

I'm in the US, so I guess I'd end up doing that. Thanks!
(Wow, International shipping is really expensive... Oh well.)

So... I'm sorry if this is more than brief...
1. Will ship outside country
2. Live in US (New York City)
3. I like all sorts of things really, especially collectables, electronic, computer, and video game things. Systems I own include PC, PS2, and all Nintendo systems minus Virtual Boy. (have access to PSP and PS3, sadly, not one of my own...) Region free GBA/DS/PC and GC/Wii/PS1/PS2, no PAL. Game wise, I love platformers, 3rd person, and Tales of games (I really wanna play Destiny remake and Legendia). I only have a small handful of DS and Wii games (most at least a year old). Bowser's Inside Story'd be nice. Gift doesn't have to be electronic. Things I don't like mostly include books and comics (art books OK), stuffed doll things, smoking/drinking, music, most movies (TV shows OK), clothes/shoes (collectors/game shirts I likely wouldn't wear in public OK. I'm a little less than size 2x), and that's about it. If you're international, I'd really like something cool not found in the US, could be food stuff (won't last forever, but would still be cool), a little international money, other things, I dunno, go wild. :D (My favorite countries are mostly in Asia, including Korea, Japan, China, Middle East, and India, so if you're from there, bonus points! Not that I dislike everywhere else, I like everything.)

I probably sound waaaaay too specific, but I'm not. :lol I'll appreciate any gift.

Woo Woo Xmas time!

A: Would prefer domestic but international is fine (Limits the size of the present with our crappy postal service here)
B: Live in the UK
C: I don't own any consoles at the moment (what the hell am I doing here!). Big Atlanta Falcons fan, and I like my gin. Love stupid gadgets, USB or otherwise. Hope that's enough for you lot to work with...

I participated last year, I sent out the gift last minute(or day after :\) due to lack of funds at the time + lack of ideas. This year I'm in a much better shape and since this is starting much earlier I'm definitely game.

A. Domestic, no offense, less work/funds on my behalf.
B. USA
C. Any video game swag like nintendo plushies/keychains/cool old retro stuff, I also have a Ps3(60gb), BR's. I'm not picky, I use the wallet(other stuff too) I received last year to this day. I get comments on it all the time lol. Its sweet, so I'd be thankful for anything.

Why would you do that? said:

Whatever you do, do NOT use UPS for international shipping. Use USPS or Canada Post.

Ummm lol I've never done anything like this before, should be exciting.

A. Anywhere really, but Japan partner would be cool, you guys got some crazy shit there :D
B. UK
C. Would LOVE any video game swag like plushies/toys/cool old retro stuff. No games/DVD please. Oh and if candy, veggie friendly please!

edit:
PSN Cards would be halal if you get really stuck. :)

Why would you do that? said:
Really, no UPS? I thought they were good... but OK, noted! Thanks.
Aside from being super expensive for international shipping, they're not the greatest in terms of international delivery.

Only time that I trust UPS for international shipping is when I'm buying from play-asia. And that's because they ship in large enough volume that rates are somewhat reasonable.

Sign me up!

- Will ship internationally
- Portugal
- Have an Xbox360(PAL) and a pc gaming rig. Am a total geek for gadgets and general electronics. Love western RPG's (Planescape Torment, Baldur's, etc..). Am into music and recently started to play the guitar (and am longing for an Automaton). Used to do parkour until I completely busted my ankle and only recently started to run again. Am not picky. =P

I've liked all the gifts I've received over the past 3 years :)

A. I will ship out of the country.

B. United States

C. I have access to most consoles (minus a ps3 and psp), but my primary is my lovely DSi, followed by my Wii and its region free hbc. I mainly play Harvest Moon games (since it's kind of my unofficial job) but I enjoy board games too like Agricola (imagine that!). I like baking, chocolate, and pampering my precious boo-boo.

08_boo04.jpg

Auuu.... who can't love this sweetie kitty

Oh yea, and I sew stuff. Where'd dm go off to?

Never done this before but it's always fun on other sites.

A. I'll ship anywhere
B. Japan
C. Don't care, although I don't really need any game software.

So is there a black list? Because there were a lot of people from last year who never got anything from their SS, me included. I know who you are, and if you post in this thread you'll get called on it.

A. I will ship anywhere
B. United States
C. I have a 60GB US PS3 and just got a 360 (apparently I'm keeping it?) so there's that. I don't have anything other than $20 worth of MS points for my xbox and if a game can be gifted, that'd work.

Yes, I will be given a list of users who are blacklisted from distantmantra.

sweet, been waiting for this thread!

A - Will ship internationally
B - Live in the USofA
C - I have 60gb PS3/360/Wii/GC/DSi/SNES/GB/GBA/NES/DC

anything Zelda/Mario/Nintendo related is cool (figurines, plushies, etc). Also anything Suikoden related (especially Suikoden 2) or cooking/Alton Brown related.

My wife and I are having a baby in February (a boy) so baby things might be pretty neat, too.

really though, anything is cool with me! For games, I love SNES and DSi most of all. but really, anything you want to give would be neat!

Yes, I was wondering when this thread would pop up. First time participating, should be fun.

1- No
2- United States
3- I'm a huge fan of Futurama, so anything Futurama related(I have season 3, and all the movies). I have a 360 and a PSP. My favorite game on the PSP is Jeanne D'Arc, so something like that or a RPG would be awesome. Gaming shirts are also welcomed(splitreason.com). My shirt size is Medium.

Cheers. :D

A. No (sorry).
B. USA
C. Videogames (Wii, DS, 360), pretty much anything that relates to my posting history, Colbert/Daily Show, One Piece, awesome stuff, ect. ect. ect. dot dot dot

The reason against UPS is that they usually charge an $18 minimum brokerage charge for international orders. This is on top of horrible service and high prices. Please use your national mail service for whatever international orders you do (Canada Post, USPS, Royal Post, etc.). When it hits the border of the other country, it passes through to their national service. Less chance of taxes, and when it is, it's only taxes + duties. No added fees. Also remember to mark the item as a gift!

Anyway, I'm in. This'll be my first time. Gotta get used to sending things. Always too scared to.

A. Worldwide, but preferably within North America
B. Canada
C. I consume all sorts of media. Games being my main one. I have a gaming capable PC, 360, PS3, DS, Wii, and PSP. I prefer the PC/360/PS3/DS as platforms. I've been watching more and more TV shows lately. I like Blu-Ray movies. I'm an action, action-comedy, and comedy fan. I'll try and have my full list of games up on Backloggery if that helps. My favourite shows are One Piece, FullMetal Alchemist (own the DVDs), Death Note, House MD, The Office, and 30 Rock. So that might give you a taste of my tastes.

1) I'd prefer to stick to the U.S. or Canada.
2) U.S.
3) I love candy, had some Aero bars once and loved them but they don't have them here. Any stuff like that would be cool. I'm crazy about pretty much any kind of candy or snack involving peanut butter. I also love interesting nonfiction books about history or scientific stuff, no religion though (neither for nor against). Same goes for DVDs, I've been dying to see Planet Earth on Blu-Ray after seeing all the screenshots. I have a 360 but stay pretty caught up on the best games so there's not much there, though I don't have many accessories (just a couple controllers and a vision camera).

1. I'll ship to anywhere in North America
2. US!
3. I have a PS3, DS, Wii, Gaming PC. I guess I'll edit this post once I think of some gift suggestions. The only thing I can think of now are Miss Vickie's Sweet Chili & Sour Cream chips if they happen to be available in your neck of the woods.

If you're an artist or are crafty, I'd love some of your work! Otherwise, I still can't think of anything. I'm really just open anything cool.

Yeah! Let's do this!

A. I'm willing to ship anywhere in the world.
B. Australia!
C. If my secret santa is outside Aussie land, I'm always on the lookout for:

- Cool local knick-knaks and stuff to put on my walls (eg. a small sketch/print by a local artist of a landmark near you)
- Any interesting or unusual coins or medals
- A wallet/set of hankies/belt with a bit of your local flavour to it
- Lollies, sweets, candy or otherwise unhealthy food that is only found in your region
- Electronic doo-dads
- Books (fiction or non-fiction), especially on science, history or folklore
- Video games - I have a DSi, an HBC enabled US NTSC Wii, a PAL Gamecube, a PAL PS2, a fairly capable PC and a PAL PS3. My tastes lean toward 2D and retro games, handheld RPGs (console RPGs are a little tricky for me due to time contraints) and adventure games like the Phoenix Wright series. I adore metroidvanias, 2D platformers and quirky games. Your best bet would be something obscure that you might like but that wasn't released in my region. My post history should give you a fair idea of the kinds of games I have.

Well, thanks everyone for answering the UPS question. USPS flat rate sounds like the way to go for me (though I'll miss the tracking number...)

How will you go about pairing people? Do you do it by hand, or will you use a computer program of sorts to randomly do it?

Also, what about lost packages?

Sorry of these are simple questions, but I've not really shipped anything before (outside of putting a printed UPS/FedEx label with a tracking number on a box and dropping it off) so yeah.

A. Will ship anywhere
B. Kinda hard to say. I am at the moment in the US, but around the 15th of Dec, I will be in Germany. So, if you need more out of country people, I could just get something from there, but there is a chance it could be late.

C. I love pointless gadgets and toys. Also, any food/drink/candy items that are local would be good.

A. Will ship anywhere

B. Canada

C. I have a PS3, I also love good science fiction :D
