Woo, shipping is a woozy for myself as well, pretty steep, but hey, spreading joy isn't always cheap.

Ordered some stuff, wondering when to ship it. I don't want to arrive too early and I don't want to be late.

ps: are books considered an acceptable gift? i think everyone loves books, right?

Ugh I really wanted to do this this year.... I kept seeing the thread but it didnt click until now to try and apply. oh well next year I guess... unless there is any openings??? :D

just got bacl from post office he said its going to cost to ship.... £45! o.0 :lol im sure it would be cheaper to ship to the moon.

if you're shipping international, its worth considering ordering online from the local country of that person - eg amazon.com with giftwrapping.

but if its something you already have, and its heavy - well.

But I'm in UK, does AmazonUK ship internationally, plus I wanted to send stuff personally,

p.s. almost done my package....

Yes, they do ship internationally, but i think he meant ordering from the local amazon of your Tiny Tim. I did so the year before last year, but additionally sent something personal to my Tiny Tim.

So I finally found something for my Tiny Tim, but not only is my Tiny Tim international, the stuff I'm ordering is international. It might be simpler and more expedient to ship direct from the seller to them than have it roam the world and maybe not even get there in time.

Problem is, there will be a severe lack of gift wrapping.

Faux pas? Worth it if it's the right gift? I'm at a crossroads GAF. Help me.

I have the feeling I'm gonna get burned this year.

I already have 2 of my 4 planned gifts for my tiny Tim though. All is well.

Whoops, gift wrap, i knew something was missing. Luckily i just did the last shopping today and haven't closed the package yet :D

Doesn't the seller have a "send it as a gift" option, like amazon? If not, IMHO better in time and not wrapped than wrapped but in january.

Nope, I might give it away if I said too much, but it's a rather exotic gift. Hand-crafted. I literally had to make the order by emailing the guy.

And yeah, I'm leaning in the direction of "better in time" as well.

Just ordered the first part of ma present. I hope my Tiny Tim doesn't already have it.

A question about international shipping: can you send things like chocolate or so on or might that melt/get bad during shipping?

Edit: Just checked for shipping and it's going to be REALLY expensive. I mean, 34€? Come on. My present is too big. I might have to try to cut down on the size of it. Damn it.

I've sent chocolate overseas, and it's been perfectly fine.

Ordered the second part of my gift from Amazon. Apparently it may not get here till a week tomorrow. If thats the case, i'll be sending it in just over a week.

Hopefully not though, want it shipped by the weekend :)

Holy crap, I haven't seen this thread before, but I would like to participate !

Any chance to get in ?

I can ship international and I'm in France right now.

I just wish to be part of this... Even if I'm not in that list, anyone wanna exchange gift ? I just think that this idea is pure awesome

Got the presents in yesterday, just need to find a box and they'll be on their way. I'm guessing it will take 1-2 weeks to get there, but that's still almost a month of waiting. No opening them early!

I WILL KNOW

I think I have an idea of what to get the lucky GAFfer.

However... Is it bad to order an item and have that store ship it directly to the destination, as a gift? The item I was planning on getting is somewhat large (still not so expensive, though) so shipping would cost a lot for me.

Why would you do that? said:

Will the store gift wrap it for you?

Edit: :lol Got it wrong, turns out it was my Amazon order which is my gift to send that arrived.

Will hopefully get it all shipped by the weekend now! :D

Got my stuff in yesterday. There is one last thing I need to find then I should be able to get it shipped out next week! :D

I received my present from my SS. I haven't opened it, and won't until X-mas comes along. Tempted to peek though haha! Thanks, whoever you are. :D

I know exactly what I'll be getting my Tiny Tim for the main gift, now I just have to think of random things to toss in...candy will be a definite thing...and probably some books too.

I feel like a jackass. Last year I got a very nice package from another GAF member and I never popped back into the thread to say thanks. Still don't know who sent it, but it was awesome! The Onion book had me in tears one night as I was reading it with just the perfect frame of mind.

I did ship mine out, hopefully it was useful to the guy that got it. I stalked his posts and found out what he had coming up in his life and tried to match my present to be both enjoyable and useful to him.

I'd be in this year, but with the new baby and some medical bills, money is tight. Hopefully everybody is having fun so far.

Ok, Mr. Grinch. :D

I'm not running this anymore, but you should really wrap your gifts if at all possibe.

Mr. Grinch it is. I never believed in wrapping paper, and I can't get past the idea of spending an additional $11 via Amazon for something that will serve about 3 seconds of purpose.

it might be useful if you ask Emenis to PM your target telling them if it's wrapped and OK to open the shipping package or not. I can see it now, people opening the package expecting it to be gift wrapped inside, just to find out it's not and accidentally opening their gift early.

Finally gotthe first part of my present, though I'm still waiting for it to get to me. will throw some other things in there at well. Tiny tim should like it. but I hope it will get there in time for xmas, shipping is supposed to take up to 30 days. have to hurry up

Everything is wrapped up and packaged, ready to go!

Hope my person doesnt have what i have bought them already...! Will be shipping tomorrow :)

Just ordered my gifts from Amazon, gift wrapped and delivered straight to my guy. I ended up ordering 2 gifts since the gift i originally wanted to get had an unspecified delivery time, so i picked up something else as well. Went a bit over the spending limit, but im not too bothered.

This. How is the recipient supposed to know not to open the outer wrapping? Either gift wrap it inside or make it clear on the package that it shouldn't be opened

Sent mine. Received my gift(s) too, luckily I rarely order anything but books from Amazon so I knew something was up and they've remained unopened :D

Roll on Christmas!

Sent mine out as well. Customs forms are a downer, having to list everything out like that, but I tried to be as vague as possible.

Next up: Being detained for customs fraud.

In the past we've had people put Secret Santa #___ instead of their name on the return address.

:lol Let's hope that doesn't happen.

I should probably send mine out. I've got my gifts prepared, I just didn't know when would be an appropriate time to send them out.

Mine aren't going too far, so I'm going to wait until December 10th or so.

I ordered a thing to my Tiny Tim from Amazon today, and it said that it would get there after Dec 25th :( Anyway, I have a little more than half my budget left, so I'll go pick up some stuff tomorrow and send. If I include a little note in my package that says he will get another package from Amazon in a few days it's okay, right? :(
