GAF Steam Sale Hunt

Contest #7: First time playing through. Will probably improve tomorrow.

xOAO1.jpg

Not sure, but I think I might still be top 10 on the Xbox version. I was around 3:25 if I remember correctly. That was without using any glitches. The time I just posted was with screwing up on the fire trap. I didn't even know you could skip it.

I'm more than happy to upload stuff to YouTube, but I've never done it before. I just know about fraps. Will that work?

Yeah, Fraps will work. I used Handbrake to compress the video to .mp4 before uploading to Youtube. Just keep the aspect ratio and everything should work.

Twitch stream would be cool also.

To be fair, I came into this with experience from the Wii version. Definitely plenty of scope for improvement - from glancing at the OCD goals, by my reckoning ~200 is doable. On the Tower of Goo level alone, I was 30 balls away from the OCD target.

I don't *think* any balls count from the final level of the chapter, but I'm not certain about that.

Anyone have trouble logging into Frozen Synapse?

Edit: oop, finally got in

Edit2: Nevermind, still on the "logging into Grand Server" thing.

Now it should work. They upgraded their servers. Also, if you are having troubles, try to get on the Texas server.

Is anyone up for some Frozen Synapse?

Its probably best/easiest to PM the users who were interested in playing FS, since not all might hawkeye this thread all the time. Just suggest a time!

I am also pretty sure that we'll have this contest run longer than all the other ones. So dont sweat it if you arent going to make it until tomorrow.

If anyone wants to play a game of FS send a challenge to "firebrand" on UK1, or add me on Steam.

This guy for example. Adding on steam is probably the fastest way.

Although you will probably not be able to log on right now. I tried connecting to the Texas and UK1 servers a couple times, but it didn't work.

Again? It worked for me fine an hour ago.. Guess as soon as they upgraded their servers, they had more players jump on it too. Thats the reason why I said that we'll have this contest over multiple days though. This is so crazy. 3000 people right now. Christ. 40 yesterday, down to 16 even at night. THREETHOUSAND.

#7 By no means a high score, but I decided to mix it up a little and get my 4 year old daughter involved. She has just started WOG and I'm proud that she finished it!

Contest #7: World of Goo - Optimize the first world

It may be tricky, but you can look up OCD solutions online to try to imitate. I think I may actually prefer the Wii controls over using the mouse. I haven't tried the iPad version though. Either way, this is a great game.

Seeing all of these World of Goo scores makes me realize how awful I am at it! Speaking of awful...

Contest #6: Gabe on holidays(with a videogame character)
Gabe-n-Crew

My very amateur entry! Cap'n Gabe and crew(see: Guybrush Threepwood, Kaptain K. Rool, Cervantes, and Balthier) take a quick photo before heading back out to the imaginative sea with their goods: locked crates containing copies of Episode 3. Even if I think it's bad, I had fun making it!

Just fyi, it's pretty easy to get to your real name via minus image links so if you want to have some privacy you might want to remove that from your profile.

I won't be sending you creepy messages on Facebook though, so don't worry.
Thanks for the heads up. I signed up through Facebook because I was being lazy. :P

Contest #7

Best I could do.

I can play Frozen Synapse with somebody. Just challenge 'LFF'. I usually play on UK1 but if it's overloaded any server is fine. Dark Extermination is favoured.

Contest #8 - LFF vs Firebrand

Really tense match, a lot of fun. Firebrand won due to having more units remaining at the end of eight turns.

Here's the video: Link.
Ignore the last couple of seconds where I shoot the rocket, that never happened in-game.

Highlights:
- at 11 seconds, Firebrand walks his shotgun right next to my machine gun. I never saw the shotgun during the match so I presumed he'd walked all the way around the building to get behind me later on.
- at 20 seconds, it seemed that Firebrand's rocket was doomed to my machine gun. With a nifty bit of footwork, Firebrand managed to manouver his rocket to safety behind the table, just before I could shoot him.
- at 37 seconds, my lone shotgunner jousted all the way towards the rest of Firebrand's units in a final attempt to even the score, but Firebrand had hid his units too well and secured a victory

Good game!

I think I do, too. There's something a little unwieldy about holding a gooball and carrying it around a corner on when you need to also scroll it; on Wii, that's just a case of twisting your wrist a bit more, while on PC you've actually got to cover that ground with the mouse. Maybe I'm just working in a too confined space or something.

Holy shit, that's hilarious. I had no idea, I thought your guy had run way up top and planned accordingly.

I wasn't trying to hide my shotgun guy actually, I was hoping you'd run up to the covers or something in an attempt to flank me, so I moved my shotgun forward as much as I could while still trying to keep him stationary before you'd move into range.

GG, and thanks for taking care of the Youtube upload. (How does the video have a thumbs down already?)

Contest #6
Gabe doesn't do holiday without the L.A. finest asking him about Steam sales.

Also, LFF, dropped you a challenge on Frozen Synapse. Well, I doubt it will be a challenge except for me.

Razakin, I don't think i'll be able to play your match before the sales today, as I have to go out and don't know when I'll be back. Sorry :(

Anybody up for a match of Frozen Synapse? I haven't played since those tournaments Toma made back at release though (I think it was Toma, anyway).
