It's not really. In my history I have 100-200 entries for cheaper games like Binding of Isaac, Orcs Must Die, Renegade Ops. And I never make my giveaways long. Plus I can see all the entrants and visit their Steam profiles. Double plus, anyone can join the GAF Steam group. If it's really suspect they'll be asked to confirm here, but I haven't had the issue before.
