Question : Has the success of the Touch Generations games made Miyamoto less interested in developing traditional or hardcore-style games like Mario Galaxy?

Answer: "You certainly don't have to worry about that." He's having a lot of fun working on both Galaxy and Wii Fit, and he thinks it's perfectly acceptable to have simpler games that can be completed in a few months while also working on more ambitious projects that take years to complete

I think a new type of Nintendo fanboy is emerging from the caccoon. Will there be dissention amongst the ranks between the new and old guard?

I refuse to believe it's possible to support both nongames and games.
 
Ok this is really getting annoying now. What the hell is the problem with these software's being released by Nintendo. I think its great. They are making really good software, much better than specialists in their respective areas. I would love to have some language training software made by Nintendo. I love my Brain Training games. I think its ****ing awesome, it just goes to show, you don't have to be shooting gangs, and police officers to have a mature game. This is much more mature than those so-called games will ever be. This is something that you can actually better yourself with, and be entertained.

I will be the first to buy a Cooking Navi in English. WTF is up with GAF. Why is everyone so scared. And the people that keep saying that Nintendo is ruining gaming are the same people that don't buy Nintendo games anyway. So if they were to stop making Mario etc etc, its not going to stop other (sony, M$) devs to also stop making traditional games, and start making software. WTF GAF, seriously.
 
I'm sure Miyamoto would say "No, we're concentrating on casual games now, don't buy our console hardcore gamers".

I think the problem everyone is having with this, is that the hardcore games seems to be put on the back burner while the smaller non games are being made.

He stop working on the hard core games and started a dev team just to make small games....

They are cancelling traditional games left and right in favor of these new non-games which take hardly any effort to develop, while printing money for them.

While I would love for this to be true, just what makes you sure that they're "cancelling games left and right?" Did they have a "These games have been cancelled!" list at E3?

And no, there wasn't a list. I just know.

Retro are going to be making expanded-audience games after Prime 3 (which is going to be awesome of course).

i love the direction of the wii and i totally saw them taking that direction after the success of the DS.. (well the "nongame" direction after Nintendogs and Brain Age)

Talking about if Galaxy would have to be dumbed down:

Q: Some would say that Super Mario Sunshine was a little difficult... you said you are making this game a lot more accessible. Is it safe to assume the later levels are the more hardcore ones?
A: That's a question I struggled with a very long time. There are a number of people on the staff who thought Super Mario Sunshine was very difficult, but others thought that's what made it fun. In terms of Super Mario Galaxy. I think it's a good thing to have a suitable level of difficulty. To be honest the game was significantly easier until a few months ago and I started making it much more difficult, to the point that the team in Tokyo was starting to get worried that I was making it too difficult.

To get a little further, what is a hardcore game nowadays anyway? A movie-like corridor where you don't die and finish in ten hours? Assassin's Creed? Gears of War? A game like Monkey Ball sounds more hardcore to me :lol

But still I admit there's a difference between Gears and Wii Fit :lol

The real problem is that too many people are making assumptions of Nintendo's future plans from ONE conference and seem to have completely forgotten that Nintendo will be at the Tokyo Game Show in September.
