In the classical or all-time sense? Can't really dog on a subset of music that includes Beethoven.

QFT! How can we talk about religious music without mentioning satanic bands? Christian music, I'm sorry, is horrible. I've never heard a Christian band I've liked (and yes I have heard them). Lets hear it for Carpathian Forest, Emperor, Dark Funeral and all the other bands rockin with Satan!

Edit: I just wanted to say that I am not religious and I hold both religions (christian and satanism) in the same regard.

1) Switchfoot - These guys continue to be at the forefront of rock. Check out their latest "Oh! Gravity." It's pretty rad.

Only good religious band. Everything else is meh IMO.

I don't see how U2 is a religious band... maybe they're Christian, but I don't think their music is religious.

Because Gold & Platinum = good bands.

(Not that I'm saying religious music can't be good...Just mentioning that big sales don't mean anything, especially to religious music which has a huge demographic of people that actually still "buy" records.)

I'd say my vote is for Switchfoot as far as "Christian" music goes. They rock, their lyrics are sound, they're great guys in general.

The other band that you guys should be made aware of is "Anberlin".

They're from Florida and on Tooth and Nail records. If you haven't heard them, give them a listen. They've got a new album due out on the 20th of Feb. Great band. Met them in person and seen them 2 times in person.

Most Christian music is so bad that it's insulting to God.

There are some exceptions, but generally it's ironically soulless music.
