GAF, what do I look for in a bed?!

A lovely woman!

Strong slats if you are going for that. I don't like hard corners as you can wreck your shins. The mattress is way more important though, I have memory foam.

I like low beds as well.

This is mine:

That apartment looks fresh as hell.

Ikea appeals to people that like the look of modern style but can't afford high quality pieces in that style. It's all about style.

*Raises hand*

Yep... it's true. I love the modern style but can't afford the real thing at this point in my life. Hopefully, I'll graduate to the good stuff someday.

Looks cool, but looks functionally awful. Doesn't let you sleep on your side without contorting your back :(

EDIT: oh okay I see your explanation.

If you have spine trouble it's very important to get a good bed. I have a adjustable memory foam with gel so it doesn’t get hot. Air mattresses are also good because you can float and relieve the pressure points.

I went for a foam mattress over a spring mattress this time around and I'll never go back. If you have lots of sex make sure you get something stable.

Don't buy anything online, go to a store and try something out first.

Yes, you can haggle. Most things are a little high (it's not as extravagant as some consumer websites will lead you to believe) Unless you get a Tempurpedic. Those are all unilaterally priced, so no negotiations. Be sure to buy from a place that can act as an inspection site for the manufacturer for warranty purposes, to cut out manufacturer bullshit. Buy based on preference, not brand name or a list of features. What feels best to you is the most important thing.

I can recommend a Dormeo Octaspring. They're wonderful and really a best of both worlds type of thing. http://www.trydormeo.com/

I've worked for a bedding company for 5 years (not Dormeo) so, these are the things I've picked up on.

So I tried out a plush mattress (between firm and pillow top) full sized and it seemed to have support n all positions and it was a individual wrapped coils vs the standard coils and I forget the exact name but it had some breathable gel to help me feel cooler. since I tend to sleep hot.

It was $580 after delivery set up, and they took the old bed away. This is the mattress, box and frame. (No headboard but I can get that later) It has a 15 year warranty

Should I pull the trigger?

If you push hard enough, they'll give you delivery for free. Or if they push back, I can create you a fake proposal with my company's letterhead with the same deal with do charge so they'll have to match it.

Go here and start reading. This site will teach you everything you need to know about how mattresses and the industry works. There is also a youtube channel called MattressToGo (or something similar) that I watched which he explains stuff about mattresses.
Short summary: Avoid big name brands (Sealy, Tempur, etc.) as they are overpriced and their quality is shit. And for fuck sake, avoid Mattress Firm.

I personally saved up money and bought a full latex mattress from Sleepez that allows you to customize each layer for different firmness levels. I get it tomorrow so hopefully its awesome so I can get rid of the 13 year old pos mattress I currently have.

Thank you for this.

More like it appeals to people who like the look of modern style but know that in 5 years time what is 'modern looking' will likely have moved on.
That plus the poang is super comfortable.

Let me put it this way to you

People typically change cars more often than they do mattresses. So, you should aim for the best type that you can afford. Don't cut corners with it.
You spend 1/3 of you life in your bed, might as well spend the money. I just bought a king size with a 15 year warranty against all kinds of stuff. One of the best purchases ive ever made.

Guys the bed Base is completely flat. Same as any other bed. Mattress is standard king size. The curves are just design.

You can kinda see it better here.

OK, that's really, really slick looking. That said, it would look weird as hell with my random ass furniture though. The rest of my room is a far cry from the original picture :p
