Like for example you're not bothered if someone uses them to say that your preferred platform loses a comparison. It's just seeing DJ Khalids face over and over again that bothers you.

Basically the story of online forums. One person uses a gif, it's funny and gets a strong reaction, so there are lots of copycats who do the same shit to get the same reaction. At some point some gifs can kind of become like a dialect of the forum. At that point it's less like people want a reaction and more like that's just how they're communicating an idea.
