1. Sonic 3
Best zones, best special stages. Knuckles is love. Super Sonic & Doomsday Zone. I thought S&K was a little hard though.
2. Sonic Battle
That's right, SB is one of
the most satisfying fighting games I've encountered and it has a surprisingly not-shit story mode.
3. Sonic 2
The special stages still haunt my dreams. Game is great though, and towards the end it just keeps going: on the first playthrough I expected it to end at the boss of Metropolis, then the game's like BAM you're on a plane oh shit now you're on an air fortress wait now you're in space?
4. Sonic Advance 3
Fast as heck, the team mechanics are a nice touch (you get to team up with Eggman!). The last zone is still one of the coolest last zones in a Sonic game. Fuck the hidden Chaos though.
5. Sonic 1
Yup it's Sonic.
6. Sonic Advance 1
Probably the non-oldschool Sonic game that's the most loyal to the franchise's roots. Basically Sonic 1-3 on a handheld, though not as amazing.
7. Sonic Rush
Took the Special Stages of Sonic 2 and made them bearable. Blaze was cool though I wasn't fond of playing essentially the same game twice to get to the Extra Zone. Music is amazing. Game is kinda short.
8. Sonic Advance 2
Apparently this game is
too fast for some people. I liked it, even though I blazed through every stage (even the bosses are a race, think about how that works in a 2D Sonic game...)
9. Sonic Generations
Don't have much to say about this one, other than it's a 3d Sonic game I genuinely enjoyed.
10. Sonic Riders
In it's defense it's
not a bad racing game really; the mechanics are nice and it can get pretty challenging without going into bullshit territory. Story was shit but who cares.
The intro was amazing.

Next in line I guess would be Spinball, CD, Triple Trouble and Chaos and maybe the two Adventures.
Worst is Sonic Labyrinth, no contest.
Funniest is Sonic R or Sonic the Fighters, depends on the day.
Also if Transformed counts then that's automatically taking my # 1 spot.
