Game IP that is unlikely to get a sequel

Brave_Fencer_Musashi.jpg

A Sequel actually exist, i know it bomb hard, but it wasn't that bad...

Well Kotor 1&2 are not cannon anymore so that means Kotor 3 is dead, we will probably get a spiritual successor though.

Also it's been 16 years since the last Banjo game, and Rare are making that pirate game, so it's unlikely we will be seeing another one of those ever.

Star Wars Republic Commando

The commandos are still cannon, so there's an outside chance.

Heavenly Sword.

Tragic since it was/is the best PS3 exclusive.

Heavenly Sword :(

:(

Definitely my surprise favourite game of PS3 generation, it deserves so much more. Andy Serkis' involvement really showed, his acting as Bohan alone is incredible but the mocap for everyone else is really good, especially the facial capture for the faces, this is my favourite to show of it. I'd appreciate if Sony did a definitive edition for PS4, just to see how well it does to test the waters for a sequel, since it was written as a trilogy (by Rhianna Pratchett).

I know it's not legit successor or anything, but Ninja Theory's Hellblade is definitely close to Heavenly Sword in a lot of ways, I am excited about that. But it's not Nariko and Kai :(

..or any more future installments.

Duck Hunt. I've waited for this one longer than Half Life 3. I should probably give up hope at this point.

I have some news for you... :p

The Shooting Range game in Wii Play could be thought of as a sequel to Duck Hunt. It introduces a few new things into it, but it features the Ducks, the general landscape, and even the Dog (which can only be heard barking, unfortunately). It also borrows the can-shooting element of Hogan's Alley, associated with Duck Hunt via the Zapper and (later) Smash.

Shooting Range itself got a sequel in Wii Play: Motion named Trigger Twist. Naturally, the Ducks return, and crazier twists to the formula (like a Dinosaurs stage) are also present. :p

Asuras wrath. Which is a damn shame because if the orginal had just touched up the combat system it would be a legit contender for greatest action game of all time.

I dunno guys we are having a Nier's sequel, i think anything could happen.

Yeah, everything is possible after that, even Freespace 3...I hope

I have a dream that there will a sequel to Guild Wars! I HAVE A DREAM! Just imagine if Guild Wars 2 is ever announced...that would be something else.

Every single game that was unique and creative that they stopped making one day for absolutely no reason.

Every single game that would look/play incredible with the advances in hardware we've had since the last entry in the series.

Every single game that would sell millions but the rights holders to the IP are too stupid/selfish/greedy to come to an agreement amongst all owners that share the IP.

Basically, every awesome IP that was swept under the rug in order to chase fads, gimmicks and bandwagons.

The risk averse nature of the modern games industry is ridiculous when there are so many guaranteed successes that companies are just too stupid to take.

At least we have indies to throw our money at since they actually have a clue as the type of games that people actually want to play.

Bubsy

I mean seriously,if this series ever gets anothere entry, I'll cut off my pinky toe and eat my damn hat.

Def Jam (Vendetta/FFNY), if they could somehow get the team that made these back together for a current gen version I could die happy.

ICON was a rancid stain on this Earth that should be wiped from all memory.

Final Fantasy Tactics
Tactics Ogre
Vagrant Story
Crimson Shroud

Basically anything Yasumi Matsuno has ever made.

Also some other favourites:

Growlanser
Parasite Eve
King's Field
Metal Gear AC!D
Dept. Heaven series (Sting SRPGs)
Mega Man Legends
Metal Gear Rising
Front Mission (unless that rumour is true, but the more time goes by, the less likely it seems)
Half Life
Otogi
Breakdown
Panzer Dragoon
Shinobi
Vandal Hearts
Rocket Knight
Onimusha
Dino Crisis
Valkyrie Profile
Sin & Punishment
Suikoden
Bushido Blade

...There's loads of great ones there.

War of the Monsters.

I need more GOOD kaiju fighting games. I love Godzilla but I'm not buying a PS4 for...whatever the hell just came out recently.

Not that long ago 'XCOM' and 'master of orion' would have been candidates... so most franchises that have a fanbase 'have a chance'.

The games have 'no chance' are those were the IP is intentionally buried - for example most of the old Star Wars titles. Disney/EA probably have no interest in core gaming experiences set in the Star Wars universe [and all of the settings were 'uncanonized' by Disney] :(.

Split/Second. Series had so much potential. The concept/gimmick was cool, it was great Arcade racing and it offered a huge challenge. Still can't believe Disney liked this franchise.

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. This game fell under a lot of people's radars and it really was a fun light RPG. I think it really fit the Sonic Universe really well and the art style and general aesthetic was really cool. Sega even got Bioware to develope it and they did an awesome job. Shame that neither Sega or Bioware has interest in creating a new one.

Speaking of Sega, Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon, Nights Into Dreams, Virtua Fighter, Outrun, Daytona USA, Monkey Ball are all IPs forever doomed to being stuck in Sega's death hold.

Yeah you're right but it looks like Disney doesn't want more prequel content for the moment,
great Avatar
