Game Journalist Refuse To Review Shadowrun Attitude because it has a Sexy Woman On The Cover, Gets Mocked By Female Gamers On Twitter

James Rolfe decided not to watch the Ghostbusters reboot because he kmew from all of the marketing, as well as the fact that they were making a Ghostbusters reboot at all, that it was going be a cynically-made pandering mess that didn’t live up to the original. And he was right.

This guy is refusing to review this because boobs = bad.

Huh? Last I remember, James didn't review Ghostbusters because he just didn't think it looked entertaining or as good as the originals. Not because of it being a "cynically-made pandering mess".

I'll take a guess that the manchildren not wanting to review the games are dateless hermits, hoping that making a stand against sexuality will lead to tons of feminists flooding their inbox with nice comments.... carefully planned White Knighting.

Then the game editor will sift through them, correspond with the ones with the best Twitter or Instagram profile pic and then ask them out for a date where they can discuss male/female inequality as a cover.... then try to get them to the bedroom.

If he ever reviews this game, it wont have any credibility after this ridiculous tweet.

More importantly, i never heard of this game and im a Shadowrun fan, what is this game about?

It’s not a self contained game. It’s a Shadowrun source book from 2011.

The game reviewer needs to get out of his gamin chair and hit a strip joint.

If you're on a budget, make your way to Montreal. You can get good dances for $15 CDN.

Pretty much. Besides, there is a fundamental difference between paying money to see something you don't want to in your free time and refusing to do your job because you want to look enlightened or some crap on twitter.

I'm not woke ... I'm the opposite of woke. I been married for the past 41 years and got more miles on my "scepter" than a 1952 Kenworth. So maybe me and this guy have totally different reasons, but I agree with him. I get tired of every woman in a video game being portrayed sexually. Which I think is what the guy was reaching for with the "no shirt" thing. Yeah, guys with no shirts are in plenty of stuff, but guys don't carry secondary sexual organs on their chests.

For those of us who've actually had long, healthy sex lives that sort of portrayal comes across the same way as high-school toilet humor. It's an insult to my intelligence, and I really think the gaming community needs to move away from the whole quasi-porn thing.

It's not a clean cut like what you're describing (maybe signalling to), if you're refusing to review a game or unable to convey an unbiased review just by that perception, you're also the problem. Men and women had been sexualized since ages, showing boobs or not. Since when does a videogame or basically arts and entertainments need some kinds of justification or gatekeeping in general? This is the same as saying why watch porn movies when people could just have sex, and all those sexy portrayals that we had come across from childhood to now adult life must be deemed as disgusting, "sexualizing women is not okay". Wow. This is borderline woke practice.

Though it's confirmed you're not the target audience anymore based on what you're saying, the denial of the said content to consumed by other people is a disturbing thing to do, old people be damned. Either you'll be the hypocrites from your past or those woke old virgins.

I'm sorry if that can come off as rude, but time's changed and maybe so is your taste, so move on old man.

Oh please, don't pretend to be sorry. I gather there's enough truth in what I said to make you get angry and personal, which means I hit the target. I don't need to move at all, my aim is true.

If you are not in to sexy design in your games then there plenty of games out there with none sexy character design. Not every game needs be for everyone.
Let me ask you this, if I’m disgusted by the gore in MK11 does that mean they should censor it just because I’m personally not in to it? No! Because that would be unreasonable, instead I could just not buy the game and let other people who don’t mind gore in their games enjoy it.

Sounds like you're trying way too hard. 🤷‍♂️

Seems there's a pool of about 20 freelancers working for all the various woke game sites these days and they're largely interchangeable.

A funny thing, John Walker was telling the story of how RPS was formed as he left and one of the things that led to it was the early days of magazines getting pissy if freelancers worked for multiple publications, and I can understand the frustration of that, after all people need to eat. It wouldn't have been such a problem then of course because they didn't rely quite so heavily on freelancers but what has happened as a result of the freelancer merry go round is that publications have lost the uniqueness of their voices, a product of overreliance on freelancers and of those freelancers not sticking to one publication. I won't get anything particularly different in any of them because it's the same people writing in all of them.

Yes, and that's unfortunately the state of "Games Journalism" in most places today.

Father of 2 kids, been around the block, grey hair and all. I have no interest in sexy games.

Whether this example is high brow enough for me or not is inconsequential because with maturity comes truth; what I like, others may not, what other like I may not; far be it for me to impose my standards on others.

I question your motive.

The thing is, most women in general don't find this shit attractive or admirable at all. I'm not talking about the blue hairs who are on Twitter every waking moment bitching about something. I'm talking about women who actually have shit to do. If this dude went out on a date with a chick and they saw what he posted on Twitter, they would cuck him for a free dinner and never call him back.

So what was his review of the game? He said he was tempted to bypass reviewing it, but admitted that THAT wouldn’t be doing his job....

So I’m guessing since he’s already negatively biased about the game that he gave it a poor review?

Does he even know that a female designed and painted that cover ?

First impression yet another retarded homo journalist. Who reads this shit, how can he even have a job as a journalist and pay rent with such stupid opinions? But then it occurred to me, mayhaps all this attention and exposure is what this clown is seeking. Quick everyone forget this loser ever existed, what was his name again... :messenger_mr_smith_who_are_you_going_to_call:
