Game Music track that got you PUMPED during an action sequence!!!

I loved some of the dark & dramatic classical tunes in Giga Wing 2.

I think the Gang of Venice in God Hand is awesome. It embodies the joy of beating up bad guys with style in a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. The song makes me feel I can play better.

I don't remember specifically, but Half-Life's music would turn into a adrenaline pumping techno at certain parts. I loved that.

the whole soundtrack of Contra Shattered Soldier, or any Contra for that matter.

Also the action tracks of:

I'm not sure this should strictly count, given that it's a music game anyway, but: Space Channel 5, the final level,
after the radio breaks
.

I think it still counts because the music involved works from a *plot* standpoint, it's not divorced from the game.

For the benefit of those who've not played it:

First of all, you fight your evil counterpart, which is a standard but very fast boss battle, timing movements to the beat of the music

Second, you fight a giant version of her, where you have to do everything in reverse. That starts out easy, but gets gradually harder. And just as it's getting to the toughest part... the sound system cuts out, leaving you stranded without a beat to work to.

At this point, however, you hear the main theme of the game being sung in the background by a lone voice, then more, and more, until you're eventually left with a choir in the background singing along with your actions and providing the backing music you need to make the right movements. to defeat the eventual boss.

"Pray Me" from the Yakuza OST, which got me pumped for the fight against Shimano Futoshi, but I actually first heard it used in the trailer for the live-action film that came out around 2007 and it sounded so bad-ass, so when I heard it in the game at this fight it was like shit just got real.

"East Barricade Academy" from Gears of War. One of my favorite moments is the assault at the Fenix Estate, and one of my favorite maps. It was more awesome back in the early days of Xbox Live co-op play.

"Exit" from the Mass Effect OST, which played during the Virmire sequence with the whole bomb plot, I believe. Just a sample of how glorious the entire score is.

"Hell Drive" from the Contra: Shattered Soldier OST. When the track starts, from what I remember, you're on a hovercraft vehicle dodging fire from a submarine. I always found Shattered Soldier to be a little underrated as few action games nowadays hit the ground running.

Taking down the air ships in ZOE2. The music there was so fucking appropriate it almost made me cry with excitement.

And I remember the last push in Mass Effect being pretty amazing.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow "Mechanical Monstrosity", one of the absolute best boss battle themes in the history of gaming, IMO. Very thematic, heroic even.

Bioshock 2 "Send Him Howling Back to Hell", when you fight Simon Wells.

Resident Evil 2 "The Second Malformation of G", when you fight mutated Birkin on the mining shaft elevator.

Silent Hill Homecoming "Scarlet", the music starts off as one of the creepiest fucking things you've ever heard, and eventually grows into a more upbeat mix.

The first things that came to mind for me (Mass Effect pieces, AC Brotherhood, MGS3) have been listed, so Ill pick something different --

This Jam from Afro Samurai

I know Im one of only 25 people who played and liked this game.....but this jam is the perfect blend of old style kung fu flick sound mixed with a touch of hip hop. Got me amped up during some of the bigger battles -- it just seemed to fit like some of the tunes did in the Kill Bill movies.

Gears of War 2 : Breakneck

The perfect music for taking on endless hordes with brutal weapons.

Call of Duty 4 : Cargoship Approach

More of a setup for the chaos to come, this track stuck me and set the mood perfectly.

Too Human: Relic

For. Say what you will about the game, but once it clicked and you were unleashing your powers against crowds of enemies, both on the ground and mid air and THIS music came on? Its good to be a God.

Revived Power has always stuck with me as the centerpiece theme in Shadow of the Colossus. The way it kicks in after you grab onto the colossus is chill inducing.

Man, took a while for someone to post this. Definately my choice. The ending of it is one of the most epic things I've ever heard for a game.

Those who have played it know the power when this track starts up All about that sax.

Guardian Heroes - Shuffler in the Dark

And i'm highly surprised this hasn't been posted yet as it's so stirring and immediately brings back the tense battles when it coms on in the game.

Gears Of War - Ephyra Streets 2

Oh both GeoW games have music that would definitely fit. Such as Train Wreck and Frenzy just to name two.

I guess my problem is that with the games I never walked into a battlefield feeling like I owned it. The cover based mechanics and reality that the enemy was probably going to kill you made each fight more of a desperate attempt to survive versus a chest thumping domination of your enemies.

skies of arcadia 'Bombardment'

Skies had some awesome music, martial horns and drums, stirring strings, I loved all of it but it's this track that sticks with me the most.

final fantasy 6 'the decisive battle'

My teenage self used to look forward to boss battles more for this music than anything else!

It's weird that I can't think of anything from more recent games now I come to think of it.

I enjoyed the Sigma theme that plays during the first encounter with Sigma in Megaman X.

This is the theme that plays before you fight his wolf.

I want to briefly touch on the Last Remnant music for a second. The battle themes will change dynamically during combat based on things like initial BR match-up, starting morale meter levels and whether you initiated combat or were blind-sided. For example if you hear this theme...

Sliver of Hope

When you hear this shit you better suck it up cause you're in for a world of hurt. This mofo is fixing to pound your ass raw and beat you like a rented mule. If you keep your anus clenched tight and make good tactical choices then you might get a mid-battle transition to something like this...

Beat the Odds

Now you're starting to give as good as you've gotten and it's time to heal some units and turn the tables...

Turn the Tide

As you gain the upper hand on the savage beasties and totally begin to own the battlefield you can get another musical transition to this theme...

Press to Victory

I absolutely loved how the battle music did this type of dynamic flow at various stages of combat with musical cues to keep you amped. The Last Remnant has some of my favorite music of this gen for that very reason.

Vic viper in zoe2. One of the few times I actually thought the action synced with the music.

A lot of the music from Brave Fencer Musashi got me pretty pumped while I was playing through it.
That game has to have one of the most memorable soundtracks I've heard in a game..

Steam Knight Theme

Giant Ant

I love it :D the music sounds so adventurous
