Now if only RB will follow in their footsteps. RB3/Beatles/Green Day bombed hard enough that I'm surprised it's not dead.AlexMeloche said:Guitar Hero.

Can't wait for Mario to be retooled into a post-apocalyptic first person shooter.big_z said:Basically any franchise that has gone beyond three games and is still repacking the same shit or series that has their main story ark completed yet the developer is still milking it.
nintendo Is probably the worst for it. They really need to reboot a lot of their franchises.

That's not the only option. SMG is the quintessential example of doing it right. SSBB and Mario Kart Wii are the opposite.Orayn said:Can't wait for Mario to be retooled into a post-apocalytic first person shooter.

What are racing and fighting game franchises that does iteration right that MK and SSB could learn from?FieryBalrog said:That's not the only option. SMG is the quintessential example of doing it right. SSBB and Mario Kart Wii are the opposite.
If Nintento keeps piling on SMG 3-8 with minor rehashes, that will sorta douse the ardor for the series, yes.
I agree that Galaxy is the kind of huge, amazing upgrade we should want, though I wouldn't mind a tick/tock schedule where Nintendo establishes a new premise, elaborates on it, then establishes a new one.FieryBalrog said:That's not the only option. shintoki said:God of War, no pleasant way to say it, but I'd like real action games back. GoW's influence on the genre has created a similar effect to COD on Shooters. More cinematic gameplay, less focus on depth and content. Major publishers are attempting to imitate it or down right copy its style in favor of trying to do something original.
Dante's Inferno, Knights Contract, Splatterhouse, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow in combat, Darksiders kinda, Enslaved kinda, and GarshaspPara bailar La Bomba said:I think it's a bit of a stretch saying God of War influenced the genre, as much as CoD did. Apart from film tie-in hack jobs, how many GoW clones are out there?

- Call of Duty. The game has been declining after reaching the pinnacle with CoD4.

If it weren't for the announcement of the XBLA/PSN version of Final Showdown, I'd say that would count as euthanasia.Finaika said:Virtua Fighter.
I imagine it's something to the effect of:PinkCrayon said:why do people keep saying gears of war? the first one launched in 2006. so in the 5 years that followed, epic has released 2 other gears games. 2 games in 5 years. that seems pretty reasonable to me.
No no no no no, I was just saying that the series had been pretty quiet in the West for some time, and that "killing" in the sense of preventing future sequels would be unnecessary.Riposte said:I'd agree with you Orayn if you didn't feel Virtua Fighter needed to be euthanized because you don't have access to a Japanese arcade![]()
I'm sorry.Valnen said:None. Every series has it's fans. And by saying a series needs to die, you are being very rude and mean to those fans.

Also, probably something involving the "dudebro" audience and how they deserve to have all their favorite series be canceled because they're not TRUE GAMERS.

Wait, so in your eyes the series died even BEFORE it was released? What?Assassin's Creed - The series died the second they introduced the futuristic angle, IMO, a worse sin than the boring and repetitive game play. Reboot it and don't fuck it up this time.
