Gamecube and DS Emulation Problems

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

I am running The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the latest version of Dolphin, an emulator for the Nintendo Gamecube. I'm using the playstation dualshock controller, but can't seem to map any button in the configuration screen. I'm being limited to using the keyboard (ew). May someone help me solve this problem with that controller? I don't want suggestions relating using a different controller unless I can't actually play with this one.

The other issue is with the Desmume emulator for the Nintendo DS. I'm trying to play The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Turning on the analog setting allows me to configure my button scheme with the dualshock controller, but I can't REALLY play the game with it (so far). Any button I can press in-game takes me to the menu/map screen. I also can't get to move around with the analog sticks instead of using the PC mouse. Any help with this?

Oh, I'm running all this on Windows XP (if that helps, since I can't use Gamepad Companion for Mac OS X).

Use Motioninjoy, set the profile for DualShock 2 (or 3..don't think it matters). Hit Enable and then when you're in your pad settings in Dolphin, choose the Motioninjoy plugin. Then you can map the controls perfectly.

Isn't the zelda games on ds made to be only controlable with a stylus ?
I think there was a controller hack but yes otherwise, you have to move the character using the touch screen.

I'm guessing the OP had got the controller so the analogue directions would become D-pad directions, which of course opens the various menus.

How did you manage to get a legitimate DS cartridge to play on a PC?
You can use your own Nintendo DS to rip roms over the wifi. It takes forever (well several hours for larger games), but is possible.

Yeah, you can do that. It's real easy to backup gameboy advance games though - backed up my entire collection onto micro SD in barely over a few minutes using a DS flashcart. absolutely great for then using with my GB micro (and GBA flashcart).

Still need to continue finding games I've missed, but half the ones on ebay are fake. fuck. But yeah - having all your gba games on one cart, in a micro, is the most awesome thing ever.

Thanks, Septimus. I had to select the "njoy" plugin for the pad and select the usb pad in the subsequent menu, but it technically refers to motioninjoy. The dualshock 2 is now working for the gamecube games. :)

Going to see what to do with the DS ones. "Yarrr."

Did the OP not bother even booting the DS Zelda games on an actual DS or reading their manuals before ripping the ROMs?

Those games are controlled entirely using the stylus (and in SP case, you use the mic quite often) and are very likely to control terribly with a mouse (a tablet would work). I wouldn't play them on emulators unless I needed to record videos or something.
