GameFAQs gets a massive redesign

I'm happy for the mobile version. It seems to work really well. The desktop version actually seems to generally be an improvement, too, at first glance, but I'll need to take a closer look.

Negative reaction on pretty much every board right away too, lol.

So, the exact same thing that happens every time any change is ever made to GameFAQs.

Won't change the fact that Wikia is washing away the site entirely. :/

GameFAQs still has a place, because it allows individual authors to present guides in their own ways. I prefer having alternatives if I don't like the way one guide presents information, and I know lots of other people do as well. Plus, the GameFAQs game-specific forums aren't being replaced by anything.

Looks the same from when I last went there ten years ago.

It's probably been about 10 years since I had an Active Post on their forums, ya. Last game I remember talking about on GameFAQs was Final Fantasy X-2 in high school.

I have to say I'm cool with the redesign. The site's usability is pretty much the same as it was before, so there's no harm done with the redesign.

At the least, Gamefaqs is still an all-in-one site for 90s' and older games. It's convenient to be able to get quality Demon's Crest, Lunar, Sakura Wars, Bomberman 64, King Arthur's World, and Jurassic Park: The Chaos Continues guides. Games that aren't big enough to get wikis for themselves. I'm not at all interested in the boards, but the decades of guides almost seems irreplaceable.

Unless there are wikis for these games? Do people just use Let's Plays for older titles now? I really don't know.

It looks almost exactly the same to me, a little newer looking, and functionally exactly the same?

I dont understand the hate.

I quite like it. The site auto-formats to whatever device you're using so no more mobile sites.

I do wish they would have streamlined the amount of clicks it takes to get where you want to go, though.

Can't you still customize your gfaqs lay out? I still use version 6 or 7 I think. Besides gfaqs users will always just gamefox whatever they don't like away.

Hmmm it looks way different from before imo so I decided to put massive. I wouldn't mind if a mod removes the "massive" part if they wanted to :P
I use skins that make it look more like the site did in the late '90s/early '00s, so it was immediately noticeable to me.

If you use this, you should be able to. Wasn't able to until I did.

Are they?
I hate Wikia sites. They all have the same terrible, ad-ridden layout and often very little content compared to independent fan wikis or Gamefaqs.
I'm one step away from blacklisting Wikia from my Google results entirely.

Why do new websites always have to make everything so gigantic? I actually have to scroll to down to see upcoming releases now.

Fairly decent.

Euegk, is my reaction.

It needs more structure.

Like with the text, here.

Not sure how it looks on a PC just yet, but it looks vastly improved on my iPhone. It was absolutely atrocious to navigate and look at before. So good job I guess.

Still a lot of bugs and inconsistencies they need to work out, the moving header on different pages is driving me nuts.

Looks alright but,

This is just a mess.

You try jamming 30 years of gaming history into a navigation! :)

I've done site redesigns (wireframing and scoping), including a cheats site... it's a freaking crazy undertaking and almost always leads to a point where you go "Fuck it... this will do."

I'm probably just used to the layout after all these years, but GameFAQs is still by far the easiest and quickest place for me to find an answer if I have a question on a specific part of a specific game. The more general discussion boards are usually junk, but sometimes the boards specific to a game can be useful.

I used GameFAQs more to ask some question about Cross Edge (that game pissed me off but at the end I finished it)...

From what I remember this new design seems like the same with a new color?

You can change the colors at the bottom right of the screen.
