You can change the colors at the bottom right of the screen.

Thanks for this, the site looks smexy now :)

Oh wow, version 9 of the site even logged in has been changed. I can't get the old-old-old version back. WTF Gamespot/Cnet?

Be aware that throwback mode is temporary. >_>

It's a shame I have to do that to get the skin/version I chose in my account back. WTF is with this forcing it on everyone even if they go into their account options, resave their style selection log-out/log-in and still can't use it?

GameFAQs still has a place, because it allows individual authors to present guides in their own ways. I prefer having alternatives if I don't like the way one guide presents information, and I know lots of other people do as well. Plus, the GameFAQs game-specific forums aren't being replaced by anything.

Indeed. I find it bizarre that the horrific Wikia experience draws people away (and I ADORE, say, S.N.K. Wiki and the like).

They also have the best release lists of any out there. The PC releases can be late, but there's no competition for aggregating that sort of information, especially for non-U.S. releases.

Reading that help file, they're basically going to throw this at everyone and throw the old styles under the bus. Well then... guess I'll just google the game site page if possible and then find an FAQ to minimize my use of the site in general then.

More likely, you'll get used to the new design and stop caring.

Nope. I've been using Version 9 for the past ten years or so now. New site looks terribad even with changing the colors. I don't like it and I want the old style back. If they're going to force me to use the new style I'll stop going there. Simple as.

A web designer at Giant Bomb mentioned a while back that he was helping with the new gamefaqs redesign and specifically said they could barely touch it because it would immediately cause outrage. It sounded like a nightmare job for him. He was right, apparently.

Yeah... looks like they built it off of the Giant Bomb stuff, feels very reminiscent of the new site. Even has responsive design.

A few people mentioned wikia phasing the site out, but it's still #3 for all gaming sites in traffic supposedly at almost double #4 (gametrailers). Only ign and gamespot get more. And alexa.com says that the percentage of total net users on it has stayed pretty similar over the last two years.

I stand by what I said: everything about GameFAQs moderators and the moderation system is positively barbaric. You have what, 3 chances to appeal a moderation, to a nameless moderator, and if you fail that, you cannot ever appeal it again. And never, in the years I've used that site, have I ever met a single person who had successfully appealed a moderation. You cannot contact the moderators, and there is nowhere to make a complaint about them. They stand by and let people troll to their hearts content, flooding boards with bitching, fads, and the most bizarre perversity imaginable so long as it doesn't violate the positively Pharisaic TOU, but if you QUOTE A GUY WHO BROKE THE RULES, you are punished as if you yourself broke the rules.

GameFAQs moderators sloth, their obtuse system, and the all around arrogant jerkass personalities they unfailingly display during those brief, unwinnable interactions with them are the single greatest reason I post as sparingly as possible on that website now.

GameFAQs boards are shit because the moderators are shit, plain and simple. So many of that site's problems could be fixed if the moderators could be asked to step out of their golden palace and actually moderated.

Wow, really? Didn't know it's still that popular!

I don't mind the changes, there are some few and minor improvements. What I don't like are the fonts used, and they're all over the place which makes the site look weird.

Looks OK to me. Good to know that color change option is there - I never would have thought to look for it.

I'm liking the green on black myself.

Mostly happy to hear its faster and possibly easier to navigate. GameFAQs is one of those sites where I really don't give a shit what it looks like, I just want to find what I'm looking for quickly.

Wow, holy shit. It feels like GameFAQs always had the same layout since the beginning of the internet.

Rarely visited the site except for the occasional superb walkthroughs, etc, but glad they refreshed the design.

I think they've managed to capture the spirit of the original well. Personally it feels clearer which I think helps guide discovery and general browsing.

So it looks
pretty much
the same.

But I mean, it was always clean and minimalist and functional. Don't fix what ain't broken.

...Seems a bit extreme, but okay I guess.

If you go to the game board Hellhole that's essentially the Moderator's public clubhouse. You can chat to the mods and even ask about your indiscretions.
