Dont give a shit about character importing, so thats cool with me.
Yeah, I'm fine with a new hero as well.

I am hoping to see more Morrigan though.

Given that they conveniently released the Leliana DLC right before this was announced, I get a feeling that she might be in Dragon Age 2.

Oh, I just went full heavy and medium leather armor for my guys XD
My solution was to only use Morrigan and keep her first robe (imo the best looking one, which is not saying lot) and upgraded once I got a robe from killing Flemeth that looked exactly the same : P

Oh well, no big gripe but I do think it's a bit of a shame. Even though I appreciate them trying something else to the generic robe and wizard hat in Dragon Age I'd almost prefer them going back to that now instead of going with these weird druidic looking stuff again.

Maybe some people don't aspire to bring mirth and laughter into the lives of anyone that reads their posts. Maybe they just settle for pointing out how obviously ugly the cover of the magazine is.

Anywho. As some one who is really enthusiastic about Bioware games and likes pretty much all of them, including jade empire, I hope that Dragon Age 2 is more than just an expansion or slightly tweaked follow up that is out two years later. Sure I am probably in the minority but I really didn't enjoy the combat, classes, skills, magic or pretty much any part of the game that involved stats and not dialog. So much so that I even skipped out on the Awakening expansion and probably won't buy it until its $10 on steam's christmas sale this year.

Edit: My complaint can be summed up as such. Dragon Age suffered from the fact that Bioware had to come up with their own system instead of using the old D20/DnD rule set which is much more refined and detailed and thus easier to understand.

DAO was very easy to understand. It did have less depth and a severe case of bland encounter syndrome though.

If they have more missions where you can drop you main character, and use your other teammates like the rescue mission that would liven things up a notch.

Big zoomed out picture

Now why don't you show a few nice zoomed in pictures of the armoirs or wagons. Sure, it looked great when pulled out, but I prefer to play the game zoomed in for everything except the combat.

Edit: To be fair, because Bioware released a pretty robust SDK, a guy was able to mod in HD textures that were more acceptable, but not great.

Well maybe not understand but the obscuring of what exactly the stats did or not knowing every detail of all the combat rolls. Anyways this is really a minor issue because my main problem is that I didn't find the combat fun. Maybe because some much of it was about micromanaging the caster in the party because they were so very effective that pretty much all of combat revolved around them.

I felt it could look pretty good zoomed in.

Unfortunately, the game just wasn't very consistent about this.

Agreed! They really need to take a look at Icewind Dale II and draw a lesson or two from that game. I really did enjoy the story and the way the character interacted with each other but the encounter design was very uneven and to be honest, despite playing the game on Nightmare I did not find it to be very hard (there were some exceptions of course like the Spider boss in Ozrammar and Flemeth). At the end of the game Bioware pretty much relied on enemies using Scatter Shot to challange you and eventually even that was no longer an issue.

What bland encounters?

DAO has more variety in terms of general encounters than any other 3d western rpg. It's a part of the reason it's the best 3d wrpg.

You started off sounding deranged, but now you are just insane.

Won't be bothering with this until it shows up on Steam for like $10, I don't care what claims they make.

The bland and generic world, poor dungeon design and pacing, rigid and simplistic class system, uninteresting combat and just general middle-of-the-roadness of DA top to bottom doesn't give me much hope that Bioware can pull this sort of game off anymore.

Well I'd say that's always been the case with all isometric WRPGs like Dragon Age. Wizards were very micro heavy in Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Temple of Elemental Evil so I'm not really surprised that happened here as well. What I do think is the problem is that Wizards were simply too powerful being able to heal, dish out great damage and crowd control incredibly well. It wasn't balanced properly and my recommendation to remedy this for Dragon Age II would be to remove their healing capablities and give these to a Cleric or Paladin class and also tone down their damage and make them more focused on support and crowd control.

Miladesn you might want to add the new features to the OP since I don't think many people will notice them at post 78. :lol

I understand your frustration with the obfuscation of the stats.

I will say though that caster were so stupid powerful that even on Nightmare, any competent tactics setup would allow you to absolutely wreck shit.

Same boring ass class system confirmed.

I fear that you may be correct, but there is the chance that they may have learned something and have correctly implemented it.

Can't wait! I just hope that Morrigan returns in some way.

What are the chances of a GOTY edition for the first game being released with all the DLC and Awakening included on the disc before this comes out?

I own Dragon Age on PS3 but haven't bought most of the DLC yet, so was wondering if a GOTY edition would release that may be cheaper than buying all the DLC seperately. Also wouldn't mind getting it on PC too if they done some kind of GOTY bundle.

If Mass Effect 2 is any indication, Bioware's idea of correctly implementing things they botched before is probably very different from yours or mine.

Can't wait to see the first screens, it's going to be a long wait for that trailer though. Box art doesn't look half bad.

Concept art looks great.
I'm hoping DA2 will be like the jump from Baldur's Gate 1 to Baldur's Gate 2.

Oh, and nerf mages already. Goddamn

Fucking awesome!

I'm glad they aren't just continuing on the Wardens vs. Darkspawn thing. I was worried that would be the only conflict ever focused on in the Dragon Age world.

I can't wait for this. I'm excited to see what they mean by a new visual style. I really liked the look of the first game other than some of the character designs (faces in particular). I hope it's not a radically different style.

All I ask is: 1) that the console ports don't totally stink this time, and 2) that you can legitimately pause combat and issue orders in the console versions (see 1)

Someone on Gametrailers said "Mass Effect 3 would have been better". Let's all be thankful he has no sway over Bioware's release schedule.

DA was one of my GOTY last year. I'm glad DA2 is being treated as new game with new story and characters in the same DA universe. This will give more freedom to BioWare. Just like Elder Scrolls series, same world but different games.

I finished DA but I never picked up Awakening. I've still got plenty of other stuff to play, so it'll be a while before I actually get around to it.

The bolded part worries me. Move away from classic RPG mechanics and a turn towards action RPG...?

What rescue mission? I don't remember a rescue mission. I've beaten the game twice and I never stopped playing my main character. What did I miss?

After
rescuing the Queen, Ser Cauthrien ambushes you, and you can choose to surrender. Then you can either play with Alistair and your character inside the prison to get out or choose another party to rescue them.

Or you can just fuck her up and skip all of that
