It's not looking good, but by the time people's PC's brake down and won;t afford to buy things, PC Hardware market may have recovered or found a different alternative. There's always going to be a way.

Absolutely agree on the PC side. And for cloud gaming, "Cloud is just someone else's server".Doubt they will.
Even with increased prices, the advantages still far outweigh:
The only things I see changing with increased prices is that PC gaming will become a bit less widespread, as the barrier to entry becomes higher.
- Access to WAY more games
- Including console exclusives. Those only last until emulation catches up, and it always does. FOMO is a you-issue, not a platform issue.
- Games are much cheaper - depending on how many of those you buy/play, even at increased prices PC is a drastically better long-term investment.
- Modding (yes, a handful of games offer modding on console, but it is severely limited). Very often, a modded game is the best version a game can be as it is personalized to YOUR preferences.
- Can do other things on monitors 2, 3, 4.... while gaming. I sure make use of that a lot.
- Depending on how you live/what you do, you might need a PC anyway - you definitely don't need a console anyway.
But that might not be a bad thing.
Many hobbies have their best times when they are big enough to sustain themselves, but not big enough to be mainstream - usually you have to gatekeep to achieve that, it seems AI is doing the job this time...
If PC gaming went back from mainstream to niche, I wouldn't be all too upset about it.
Also, if you were already willing and capable to put 1000-2000 on the table for a decent gaming rig, please don't pretend like another 500-1000 on top for the same power is suddenly gonna stop you.
It will make upgrades happen less often.
Then again, the exact same is gonna happen for consoles.
People who believe consoles will be exempt from any of those price issues and shortages are delusional.
The only thing I see actually gaining traction in this, at least potentially, is cloud gaming.
But even that was mostly dead because of all the issues with it - those didn't go away. And their clouds are also more expensive to maintain now.
Who knows, maybe LAN cafés will make a glorious comeback.

Those cloud servers run on RAM, NVME SSDs, GPUs, and require datacenter space power and cooling.
So it's always going to compete with AI in terms of usefulness to the large Corpos.
Yes, Nvidia has its GeForce Now which is dangerous since they are getting it at cost. However, even Jensen is going to have to consider if it's worth to setup more servers for gaming or sell more $30K GPUs to hyper scalers.

There are two major flaws in your argument. One is that you are comparing 64GB to a console that has 16GB.
The other is that the PS5 and the Pro use GDDR6, which is a generation behind DGGR7 and DDR5. Although GDDR6 has seen big increases in prices, it's nowhere near that of GDDR7/DDR5.

That's not mitigating prices. The DRAM they had was bought at the previously low price. As soon as they had to pay the new price the cost was passed on to the consumer. RAM goes up again? It would just be a few months later and the PS5 will go up in price again. And again, and again. The two are linked.
And the reverse applies just as well. Sony is not going to cut PS5 prices as soon as DRAM gets cheaper.
It's funny seeing these arguments about mitigation or absorbing costs when the PS5 is now 50% more expensive vs a few years ago.

If cheap entry level PCs are no longer possible than cheap consoles are not either.
Any scenario that gets to the level of "end of PC", which I personally doubt, pretty much spells the end of consoles. End of smart devices all around really.

A friend of mine was laughing that ddr5 prices were increasing, he is a die hard nintendo fan, he really thought that nintendo used some special factory and would not be affected which is hilarious since switch 2 uses a type of ddr5.

Yes, actually. Unless you think Sony has some capability to get cheap DRAM that others don't have access to.
I'm not talking about the current situation, which is still manageable, I'm talking about the type of situation that would effectively kill PC. Like 16GB of RAM costing $1500 or so (which I don't believe will actually happen). Which means a console would probably cost around $2k. Which effectively ends that line of business.

The future is that gaming GPUs exist only in consoles, where Sony and Nintendo have customized the GPU for gaming.
Or do you think Sony co-develops RDNA5 just for show? It's to reduce dependence on AMD.
If AMD decides to make GPUs solely for AI, Sony already has experience in taking those GPUs and customizing them for gaming.

Sony/Nintendo/MS wouldn't raise prices during the holidays, they'd be retarded to do so. Consumers look for deals during that period and it would've meant financial suicide during what is arguably the most important financial period for any consumer electronics company.
Notice they waited till the end of their fiscal years to do it after they've reaped the rewards. There was no "mitigation" only delay.

Watched it fully yesterday. They went with the interview routes, so basically you hear opinions of people who is not selling as much as before. It wasn't that interesting because after listening to the guys from Corsair all the others basically said the same. Though I loled at the Lian Li sorting chairs at the Titanic reference by the unemployed guy sitting on a questionable rug.

Like all things, content creators, news sources, etc. It's all subjective. Gamers Nexus isn't for everyone, but I personally think it's nice to have someone bring attention to a lot of the nonsense that's been going on within the tech industry. Regardless of how you feel about him personally, he and his team really do seem to get every bit of news and detail about every particular story.
I find it amusing that people tease about it being another "doom and gloom" video, but I mean, if you think that's not what's going on you're certainly not paying attention to the tech and component industry. It's been a mess, and while it's not something that should make you run outside screaming the sky is falling, it's certainly not pointing to something positive for the majority of the game industry and PC market. I'm sure higher tax bracket folks aren't shaken, and good for them. But there are a LOT of people that are slowly being forced out of something that they enjoy and love and not it's because of "standard inflation or price fluctuations".

That's honestly what I'm thinking and hoping for. I'm slightly concerned about who will be at the helm, but I'm also not trying to put the cart before the horse. If anything's clear, we need it to all come from smaller companies, be it new ones or ones we know of taking bigger steps. It just can't be Google, Nvidia, and similar companies. They're just feeling like they're becoming worse and worse.

You have to factor in that PC's are some peoples lifeblood, and with the amount of time and use a PC gets, $2000 is just not that extreme for what you get.
