Games that are 10\10 in your book

2355509-ps2_metalgearsolid3subsistence.jpg

Once the 3rd person camera was added the game become what it was meant to be.

It surpassed even the greatness of the original game, I hereby grant it the title of Best Game Ever.

It is a true masterpiece.

Terranigma_box_art.png

Terranigma, Fun gameplay, amazing music, great story which leaves stuff open for interpretation and the feels, oh god the feels

Vagrantstorybox.jpg

Vagrant story, a personal favorite. The game is not for everyone but i down right love it. the gameplay is hard to learn and even harder to master, but damn satisfying. The plot is unique and the character are all extremely memorable to me.

Chrono_Trigger.jpg

Chrono trigger, a game that shines in its simplicity. How do you keep an element like time travel in check? By keeping it simple. Simple is the word i would use to describe CT, but in the best way possible.

Journey-PS3-Screenshot.jpg

Journey is weird to describe for me. but i would say that Journey is a perfect video game. Maybe not the best video game, but it does exactly what it wants to do. Nothing more and nothing less.

OP already mentioned FFIX which is the another game i would rate a 10/10

Yes, it has aged graphically and the combat doesn't really hold up (it was never any good, really), but that doesn't stop it from being one of the best games ever. Superb level design, memorable characters and story, charmingly bad voice acting, brilliant soundtrack, a huge amount of freedom, high replayability, it has it all. Not perfect, but pretty damn close.

GTA V, capped last gen perfectly.

Red Dead Redemption had a fantastic setting that was really unexplored in gaming, a wonderful set of characters and fun gameplay.

World of Warcraft. It's a legendary gamechanger. Though I will agree with the above poster than Burning Crusade was my favorite I would give the whole experience a 10. Still the undisputed king of MMOs. There isn't any other game like it.

And I have to say Gears 3 because I think they resolved a lot of the issues that plagued the series and it's the one I played the most and had the most fun with. Also I have a unhealthy amount of playtime in it.

Hmmmm... for me it would be a tie between Super Smash Bros. Melee and the original Halo.

The single player modes were solid and the multiplayer never gets stale.

Ocarina of Time
Yoshi's Island
Shadow of the Colossus
Metal Gear Solid 3 (subsistence edition)

Very few games hit the 10/10 bill for me assuming I had to rate them using that scale.

PS2 Shinobi. No frills combat, tate and you're gonna die if you don't tate. It's almost a racing game where each group of enemies you tate is like a checkpoint. So damn fun and rewarding

10/10

:)

No game is perfect, but The Last of Us is the best game I've ever played. I think Super Mario Galaxy came the closest to a game being "perfect" for me in that it effortlessly achieved what it set out to accomplish.

A JRPG that can only be made once in a lifetime. Made by guys, some of which are now legends in the gaming industry.

Chrono Trigger is the perfect JRPG worth a 10/10 in my books. Everything, from the story, to the characters, to the gameplay, is just perfect.
Greatest JRPG ever made bar none.

I'm not even a huge JRPG fan, but everything about this game is just amazing. I really didn't want it to end.

For me, in terms of pure fun and replayability, Spelunky is just unrivaled. It's never the same and the controls are literally perfection. There's not a single thing about this game you could change to make it better.

It was the first in its genre and it fucking nailed it. Hasn't been surpassed by any other 3D platformer, and I'm not sure it ever will.

Hard to describe. I've played through it over 10 times, and even I know all the areas in and out by now, it doesn't really get old because you're going through it with somebody new every time. Just a beautifully relaxing experience and probably the best implementation of multiplayer I've seen yet.

Off the top of my head:

Dark Souls
Dark Souls II
Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Zelda: Majora's Mask
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Super Mario 3D World
The Last Of Us
Halo 3
Gears Of War

I really like Mario RPG's, they are pretty unique in their own way, I choose Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door because is the one that do it better.
I mean, Paper Mario from the N64 is pretty close, but it lacks of some improvements that The Thousand Year Door has, and I didn't really like Super Mario RPG back in the day, I may give another oportunity to that game.

The music in this game is amazing, the combat is just fun and the plot is very good for a Mario & co. game, I really recommend you to play this game, this deservers more attention that is actually receiving.

The lasts Paper Mario games doesn't exist.

Basically my top 4 of all time

Ocarina of Time
Conkers BFD
Half Life 2
Call of Duty 4

All of those are absolute 10/10's.

Kentucky_Route_Zero_title.png

Nothing is perfect, although Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are probably as close to perfect as a game can get, even though there are games that I love more.

It's so hard to answer this without rose tinted glasses for some of the older entries but off the top of my head?

Chrono Trigger - The epitome of JRPGs, many of tried but no one has succeeded at doing better than this one. A timeless classic that still holds up today.

Majora's Mask - I know, not OoT, but I liked MM much more. It was a more concise experience that had the best of OoT in a tighter package. This one might be rose tinted glasses and I admit that but a 3D zelda has yet to match it.

Last of Us - An all-around beautiful experience with perfect pacing, story, music, and difficulty and it was a graphical marvel for the PS3. Most of all, it gets a 10/10 because in an age where developers like to blow their own horn and make grossly inaccurate promises about their game, Naughty Dog promised a lot from LoU and met all of those expectations.

Red Dead Redemption - Rockstar makes 9/10 and 10/10 games all the time but Red Dead was the one that really clicked for me. The world was perfect and something about being in the middle of a vast open landscape really drew me in. I felt connected in every way and this was the one time where a huge open world drew me in so much that there was never a time where I felt bored or I was just doing something for the sake of improving a %.

Edit: Oh shit, I forgot an obvious one!

Persona 4 - Specifically Golden which just made the core experience even better. Enough people praise this game that I would just be treading the same beaten path but P4 really nailed the beauty that got introduced in P3 (sorry old school persona bros, 1 and 2 just weren't my cup of tea). P4 was the first time in a game where I cared about each and every character in my party and that came from simply have a monotenous day-to-day life for 50% of the game. The action parts are fun but I was there for the social link experiences and they did not disappoint. Here's to hoping that P5 improves on that idea by making them more dynamic and less strictly scripted.

Metroid Prime: an unique fps adventure game, it has everything thats good about the Metroid series

Bayonetta: simply one of the greatest action games of all time

Xenoblade: I played around 80 hours of this, so it did something right

Resident Evil 4: a masterpiece, and my favorite RE game, good atmosphere AND action, REmake was also great.

Devil May Cry: a very creative, difficult and complex action game, even today is still one of the best

And maybe others like FFVI, Ocarina of time, MGS 3,Castlevania, GTA V,etc.

Playing this back then for the first time.. My god. To this day, nothing ever came close to dat feeling when I grabbed the controller and started running around in a 3D space, it was like no other, it was.. Just perfect. SM64 > every platform game ever.

Yeah that intense feeling.. I know it.

I'm not sure anything else comes close to that revolution.. Literally being introduced to a new dimension with the characters you adore, right in front of you in your own home.

Bought it Toys R Us the day of release when I was 10 after reading about it in Nintendo Power. I'd never played anything like it before - the music, atmosphere and characters were so new and interesting. I credit Chrono Trigger that first game that really opened my eyes to other genres besides platformers and shooters.

"The 32-Meg Quest Begins"

Lol

Every single aspect of this game is just amazingly well done, from the graphics to the variety of gameplay to the absolutely perfect gameplay.

From the moment the game starts, you are on an absolutely unbelievable ride. It has the most perfect final boss fight in the history of games.

Understated story. Every single colossus a level and puzzle unto its self. In years to come, when game design is critiqued, this will be looked upon as a example of taking a simple concept but doing amazing things with it. Same as....

thelastofusbox.jpg

Pefectly blending narrative with gameplay, it's a prime example where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, even if those parts are very good.

The Last of Us - No amount of superlatives can define how great this game is (if not said already before). Tense, satisfying game-play. A story that gripped you. Visuals beyond anything else on similar platforms. MP to boot.
670px-0,671,0,360-NewsBlog1.png

Mass Effect 2 - I don't think the ending of the third is the only reason why this was the epitome of the series. The design/story choice to create close relationships with a large crew and show you the consequences of your choices is the best I have seen from a game. Great side characters you actually cared about. In addition a much improved combat system with the added bonus of some of the best DLC.

Half-life 2 - Come on give us episode 3 at least.
