I don't know about US and A but here in Europe PC boxed games are still a thing, especially in Germany (amazon.de).

Why would you buy a PC game on disc? I don't know and I don't care!

Sure.

I, too, like filling my house with manual-less plastic boxes with discs that have to be installed to the console's memory anyway, and often have to be patched Day 1.

If you like digital only, all the power to you.

I like holding things that I can sell later. And will likely increase in value should the digital license ever expire (yeah I know pirating etc but i’m talking strictly legal means).

i mean, i agree. I don't see much point in physical game nowadays either with all the day 1 patches and installations. Not to mention, at least on pc, you can back up most games without issue, or crack them when you can't so physical in the name of preservation is not a good argument. The only real advantage i see on physical is that you can resell them or buy them used, or turn them into collectibles.

Either way, its a fact if for whatever reason you prefer physical games, pc is not an option.

Hey man, not trying to knock your preference for physical. Live and let live, brother (y)

I'm a big fan of physical for 7th gen and earlier. I have a shit ton of physical games for consoles ranging from the NES to the PS2 and Wii.

I just honestly think that physical stopped making sense right around the beginning of 8th gen (PS4/Xbox One). Yes, things can be delisted, but that is the exception rather than the rule; I don't drive my overall behavior based on corner cases, I drive it based on the general/common thing.

Besides, what I've seen is that resale of modern games is not an overly profitable endeavor. Video games are worse than cars; the second you open that shrink wrap, the game loses A LOT of value.

But, to give you full credit, you're correct, and like Guilty_AI Guilty_AI pointed out -- if you are in the United States and prefer buying physical games, it's very difficult (impossible at this point?) to do for PC.

I don't think this thread delivers much since just about every multiplatform game is better on PC. Even the bad ports can be brute forced/modded to surpass the console versions.

It would be much more interesting to try and find the multiplatform games that are worse on PC. Like the FIFA games that are based on last gen versions.

Right, exactly.

To your point, in an earlier post in this thread, I did mention that, at least at launch, Batman: Arkham Knight I think was a horrible port and PC was handicapped compared to the console versions. But it subsequently got fixed up and patched pretty well, and of course now the PC version is much superior to the console versions.

I'm playing Kingdom Come Deliverance and I guess it's another great example. The game runs at 30 FPS (with serious dips) and 1080p on PS and 1440p on Xbox (with the lowest FOV setting). On PC there are graphical presents that melt even the most powerful PCs at 4k.
One of the first games that I bought when I got my new PC 'cause I was certain that it would melt my GPU

Was not disapointed. My PC cried that day.

Played for some hours on the PS4, have to restart the game on PC sometime. Enjoyed what I played.

Right now I'm finishing Ryse (bought it for 1 dollar) and boy it looks gorgeous for a game that old

botw on my rtx3080.. 1440p res plus high graphics 120+ fps.
I hate this game, but yeah, it looks downright gorgeous at high res/FPS and color presets

The Witcher 3.

I played it on PS4 at release date and then a couple of years ago on my new PC(a pretty good one but nothing over the top even then).

While i definitely enjoyed the game on PS4(i even read the books after)the PC version was a GRAND experience.

100+fps 4K(when i played the game on my TV) and the biggest difference were the mods.I simply cannot play the game now without mods like no weight limit, fast travel from anywhere and many more like the HD texture pack.

Its probably my favorite game of all time.

Played it on PS4 3 times. I'm doing my best to hold the urge to play it on PC with everything cranked up.

CDPR is updating it for next gen, so I'm trying to wait to play it with ray tracing or whatever they come up with.

If it end up sucking, I'll install it on PC the next day

Probably will do it anyway 'cause no weight limit mod is very tempting

PC is great, but would be better if you could buy games like this.
Yeah!
I had the hardest choice to make this year. To get Elden ring on ps5 vs steam. Same price.
I am happy I got the ps5 version for sure! Ps5 vrr update really helps with the performance mode. Shame sony took so long...
There are shiny post cards, stickers, poster and even a backpack patch. Of course most games only come with a disc in a case but it's still "'ownership" and a nice display.
I will get it on pc in a few years for sure too when it's 5$ probably anyway and I can play it at 8k.
The ps5 version itself runs well enough, looks great and I never had a single crash or issue. (and it does not stutter)
Of course having over 500 games on steam, would require me to have like 10 of these cabinets lol.

Yeah i would also wait to see the update if i were you but i have to say i am very cautious about it.For me the Witcher 3 has a very unique look, sometimes looks like a painting in areas like Toussaint, and i have a feeling that whatever the update is will ruin that, even if it will technically be better.

performance alone changes the game completely (like any game that has poor frame rate/pacing on console). But you will not convince many people on the visual upgrade alone.

Pc gamers are prideful and as much as I appreciate the freedom of replacing parts, no. As you know I’m a console gamer. If a pc isn’t 100% healthy you have to look out for drivers, jeopardizing performance for cooling and viruses’ lingering.
Stop downloading porn and pirating stuff and you'll stop getting viruses.

And you can do both and not get viruses if you aren't an idiot.

I mean come on. Windows 10 has pretty good virus protection on it's own. I just wish the virus protection had a better interface.

It's very true at very games on PS3/360 (20fps vs 60fps - subHD vs 1080p), a bit on PS4 games era but this console have some exclusivity at this time to defend... and not necesselary need to change my GPU.
But on PS5/XSX era... I don't think it's worth it... Performance Mode on sub-4k or 1440p is the correct for me... and the sacrifice is not too hard.

Maybe just Dying Light 2 with shit performance? Or the fact we never seen a RDR2 patch so... RDR2 ?
Also, not a big fan of modding games... so not for me...
My PC is just "in case"
