Games that fell off the radar

I think they had a problem with Bob Ross's people. MS Paint...I mean a painting game is still gonna come to the Wii.

What the hell happened to Kirby Super Star 2? Not Super Star Ultra on the DS, the Gamecube-turned-Wii game that was supposed to be 4-player cooperative. This one:

The description on the video said they might reveal more at the 2009 GDC, but Nintendo's been waffling on this game for three years now.

They were just a bunch of students (though I see their website does say something about the final platform being Wii, I wouldn't put much into that). I don't see what's unbelievable about it being a mod...? Mods don't have to look anything like their source game you know.

Ishaan: So, the prototype platform is the PC and the final platform will be the Wii?

Yohan: As students, we don't have access to the Wii devkits. Moreover, we're not programmers or graphic artists, so we've decided to make a mod for an existing game. It allows us to use powerful tools and simplify our work. But in order to carry out Wii gameplay, you can play on the PC with a Wiimote and Nunchuk.

Ishaan: So, what existing game does this one modify?

Yohan: We've chosen Farcry. The Cryengine can display lots of vegetation and large areas. And the editor "Sandbox" is pretty well designed, especially for team work.

Ishaan: Will the final game eventually be playable on the Wii or do you plan to make it a PC game with Wiimote/Nunchuck controls?

Yohan: Well, we don't know if a "final game" will exist one day. Capucine is just a prototype, and so it will stay on the PC with Wiimote/Nunchuk controls available.

Ah OK, sorry then. Thought you confused this game with something else.

I really want to hear something on Riddick. Loved the first one but never finished it. Didnt wanna start playing it again with the remake around the corner. It was suppose to come out at the end of '07 and here we are almost at the end of '08 and nothing new on the game! WHERE IS RIDDICK!!!!!

Isn't there supposed to be a LoCo RoCo 2? Where the hell did it go? No, the PSN version does not count.

Revealed just before E3, we've had screens and video since. I'd point you in the direction, but my internet connection is pretty weak and it's taking forever to find anything for me :-\

Whoa, could you elaborate a bit? It's been straddling my to-watch list.

All of the footage I've seen made it look like a halfway decent action title. The beast riding seems like a strong concept.

But if the execution didn't quite pan out, I'd love to hear your opinions.
To start, the visuals are very poor. Like a good PS2 game. Another is the combat is very simple, not much more than the original GA really, but the gameflow is all about going down certain paths to beat monsters and get keys to get to the next area. It's not open world, the areas are very narrow. Then the beasts... it doesn't feel like you're riding anything at all. Instead, it's like your character gained 200 pounds and is more awkward and even slower to control. That's right, on the back of the beast you move slower than you would normally walk. I had to hold down the run trigger just to make it playable.

In short, it's too simple, the level design sucks, and the beasts are awkward to control. I've played kiddie games that were more inspired that this drivel.

It was released in Japan and I'm sure it won't be coming over here.
No, it was released nowhere. It was cancelled when the movie was.

Given that it's out in a few days, I think Spore's fallen off the general public's radar a bit. Which is sad.

There was this one game Silicon Knights was developing. I think they announced it at once e3 years ago alongside Mass Effect as a trilogy

Baten Kaitos DS. One of the few series I actually want to see using a touch screen, but no word on whether it ever got approved. :/

Wait.. is Prototype really nowhere to be found? I just thought it had been pushed back to next year. Open world games seem pretty problematic this generation (see: GTAIV, Prototype, Mercs 2 delays)

Didn't Prototype just get delayed further?

And where did you hear about Tiberium getting canned? Last I remember is its (GI?) cover a few months back, and nothing new.

And what happened to the Crossing?

He didn't hear anything, it was delayed: http://pc.ign.com/articles/895/895010p1.html

Killing Day was canned quite a while ago.

Where is the new SSX - winter's coming...

I think they'd rather not go head-to-head with Shaun White Snowboarding right now - meaning I doubt we'd see anything shown of the new SSX before November (Shaun White is coming in the middle of November, check gamersyde for videos).

Whoever said that Tiberium is still doing good and was only delayed - maybe. But there was a pretty hefty rumor circulating before E3 that EA had scratched the game from their plans and the developers have not commented on anything after that. I'd say development limbo, approaching cancel speed.

And something else that I need to see more of: DEUS EX 3

I would vastly prefer a DS entry of this to anything else out there. Fuck Namco/Nintendo for not making this happen :(

What happened to Chakan The Forever man that was going to come out for the Dreamcast?

This. I was going to say the same thing. Man that looked so good at the time. I remember hearing "1200 polygons per character model" and nearly spitting, that was so high back then :lol

It's been out for a long time.

Btw, vaporware counts? If it does, everything in the "lineup" of Nibris :lol
But Sadness hasn't been "off the radar" for a while. Since April, there's been lots of news on engine licensing, leaked GC gameplay video, rumors, etc.
