Games that give you feels

microwave.jpg

Ocarina of Time -
Leaving Saria behind. Saria and Darunia's speeches after you free them as sages. The music.

Final Fantasy VII -
Red when he talks about his father on the mountain. Aeris' death. Tiffa talking about their childhood flashbacks.

Ogre Battle 64
Rival/superbud Dio holds off way too many knights for you to make your escape and join the revolution
Skies of Arcadia
Assault on Big Bad leading to final battle, when all the nations of the world send a representative to back up your hopeless little suicide mission.
Mass Effect
Captain Kurrahe's "hold the line speech"

Basically, military sacrifice, gearing up for impossible battle.

Still unmatched in my entire history of playing games.

Because I have played from the very beginning of Xenosaga I and I really enjoy the universe's story, characters, and everything else. When I finished it it really feels like closing a very memorable chapter of my life that I don't want to forget.

ESPECIALLY this scene

Shadow of the Colossus, when Agro falls from the broken bridge, this part made me shed tears :'(

http://youtu.be/SclbRYmGG9A

Note: See from 1:30 minute
I spoiled this part for my brother. The sound on the TV was kind of loud and he overheard from the other room, and he just went like "Did the horse just fucking die??? Are you serious??" He was so pissed I ruined the moment. lol

Yes, it was an emotional scene. Especially since the walking in the game was horrendous.

I like to walk up and down the shoreline in Dear Esther's first chapter and soak up the feels. The wind, the overcast skies, the roar of the ocean... Reminds me of secluded beaches I used to explore on trips to Maine. :)

I just finished Asura's Wrath last night and there were more than few scenes that left an impression on me.
First up, that scene in episode 12. For a game where screaming is the main language, Asura's voice actor fucking knocks it out of the park in this episode.

You can really hear the anger in his voice and how what just happened has affected him. Then his rage builds to a level you haven't seen yet and you get revenge for what the enemy just did and you are just as angry at them as Asura is.

Next up, that last part with Yasha in episode 21. I can't really go into much detail without spoiling it so I'll just say that with the build up, it's probably my favourite QTE sequence in a game.

And this isn't as impacting as the other things I mentioned but finally, that ending with this music.

Agreed with everything here. Good god, that episode 21.

Vocalized version of Furueru Kokoro is better though. :P

Thanks for the spoiler.
What exactly is the spoiler? Clementine using a gun? You dont know whats happening in the screemshot unless youve playex the game. Its the perfect screenshot since people not playing dont get spoiled, people that do know recognize the context and know which moment i am talking about.

That screenshot made me want to pick up the game again and continue past the 2nd episode.

Zelda Majora's Mask, Anjei and Kafei Quest.

I never expected this in a Zelda game.

MM is so awesome, and so relevant to this thread.

I had very mixed feels when Aerith
got skewered
. I was both shocked, saddened, yet also happy at the same time.
The intro
of ME2 when
Shepard dies
gave me a lot of feels too. I had stayed 100% away from any kind of spoiler info about the game before playing it.

beyond good & evil, when home sweet home started playing in-game. i hadn't played it in five years, and i did not remember that happening. it's such a beautiful piece of music, and so good i can't believe it actually happens while you're in control of a character in a video game.

link's awakening is the first game i played that had a story with text. a lot of the character interactions and the way the story is handled are still some of my favorites in any zelda. but what still gets me is the opening. the part where the legend of zelda theme kicks in is still my favorite rendition of that music.

skyward sword has a lot of great music: separation, fi's theme, and gate of time in particular. but the moment that got me was this game's beautiful version of zelda's lullaby and its placement in the game's big plot twist.

It's Katawa Shoujo actually.

I see it mentioned a lot in this thread. I want to try it out, but I'm not into harem VNs.

Luckily for you there isn't any flavor of harem option. The best you can do is
cheat on your girlfriend with her friend and get the bad end because of it.
It's an honest-to-goodness VN that avoids damn near every possible weeabooism.

The only game I cried in was MGS 3 because of the ending. Now that was perfection. Also Kingdom Hearts games give me a bunch of feels. For example, I know of the whole dialogue of the last scene with Roxas and XIon in 358/2 Days. I also know the way Xehanort delivers some lines in KH BBS, and the way Ventus screams "Terraaa" for most of the game... *sigh*

Of late, a lot of things- Journey, MGS4, Red Dead Redemption and The Walking Dead mainly.

The ending of Max Payne 2 gave me feels too- I felt emotionally invested.

And Anarchy Reigns gives me that blissful feel of pure chaos in matches.

Homeworld. Homeworld all the way. From the Yes song at the ending (a great 9 minutes monster of a song) to this:

This mission, man. That Fleet Intelligence dude was awesome! And then, at the end, when you are at the heart of the Taiidan empire, facing an emperor who's really lost it and sends his entire fleet at you... (Granted, once you learn the salvage corvette trick the mission is easy as hell but the idea is there, heh.)

And, ironically, Homeworld Cataclysm had some really tense and even scary moments with The Beast. When a ship is captured by this virus you can hear the screams and all, it was quite freaky:

Seriously, the Homeworld games are so damn awesome.

The return to kharak is the big one for me. Just the combination of the music and voice acting in that scene was perfect.

Enslaved when
Trip takes off Monkey's headband and he tells her to put it back on
.

The Walking Dead when
Lily shoots Carly in the face out of malice
.

Final Fantasy X-2 when
Yuna and Tidas meet at the end (100% ending) and she asks "Are you real?" And he replies "I.. I think so"
.

Silent Hill 2 - Water Ending.

Walking Dead, already been mentioned. I came into Walking Dead late, so i played all the episodes in one sitting, left me a emotional wreck afterwords. I was upset and sad but also happy that such storytelling could happen in games.

Silent Hill 2 is the game that gives me most "feels", anyone who has beaten it knows why. The word "depressing/depression" in the dictionary should just have a Silent Hill 2 picture. What a game

Oh man, so these. Snake Eater and Guns of the Patriots both leave me emotionally drained every single time I play them. Heck, most of the Metal Gear series is pretty damn emotional for me.

This tops anything I've ever played, personally:

Other than the Metal Gear series, Shadow of the Colossus any day of the week, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and most recently The Walking Dead by Telltale. The ending of Ocarina of Time still gets me really sad for some reason.

Mass Effect 3 had a ton of them. Sniping with Garrus, Mordin's final stand. The whole series coming to it's conclusion felt so epic and so right, AND THEN....

...I actually didn't think the ending was that bad.

'Feels', as it is being used, is not a word and I feel slightly dumber for participating in a thread with this title

Alright, First I'll jump and then I'll hi-GENOCIDE CUTTER!
That didn't work, I'll just use a Fireb-GENOCIDE CUTTER!
Oh man, what can I do agai-GENOCIDE CUTTER!!
For the love of God, give me a se-GENOCIDE CUTTER!

Rage, Fear, pure focus, misery, sadness but finally victory.

I feel that a lot of people missed out on this game. Its one of my favorites of last year.

I'm playing Deus Ex Human Revolution right now and the side quest in the beginning where the mother of the lead scientist asks you to follow up on her daughter's death made me feel pretty empathetic.

The Legend of Zelda, the Wind Waker

That Feel When
No King Daphnes

Mega Man Zero 4

That Feel When
No Zero

Zero Escape Series

I will never trust again.

Final Fantasy Seven: Crisis Core

It says a lot about a game that you KNOW the ending is coming, and you have to deal with the horrid retcons this game introduces and yet the ending still leaves you holding back manly tears.
