Games that let you play as Elves

Elf Bowling

Jesus, what was this 98' , 99'. Remember playing it on my grandmas computer.

I could use a really really good game series that focuses almost exclusively on elves and elf lore. Get deep into their religious affinities with nature and the internal politics that surround it. Really make it grand. I feel like I've gotten snippets through other games with WoW maybe coming the closest.

Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall/Hong Kong
You can play as an Elven Cyborg Street Samurai who uses guns. Not exactly efficient but pretty cool I think.

I usually like the elf portraits.

Elves are one of the new races (meta humans) that evolved from humans when magic re-awakened in our world. The Shadowrun setting is great because it blends real life, sci-fi and fantasy together with nods and flips to traditions and cultures.

Hey that's the character portrait I went with. She looks so cool. Basically who I'd like to be in real life.

Every CRPG, every MMO, every LOTR game, every Warhammer game, every Zelda game... There must be thousands of titles all told.

Shadowrun elves are pretty dope.

i too always loved playing as elves in videogames, although i'm not sure why i like it so much. my favorites are night elves(due to my first character being a nelf druid) from wow, elves from tolkien and link from zelda

the worst looking ones by far are the elder scrolls elves and maybe everquest, they look like aliens to me, like eww

Celestian Tales: Old North
A turn based RPG that lets you pick your character from several different backgrounds. One of them is an elf. Ylianne. Her side story involves her trying to understand the human world, the elf world and how she fits into both or neither.

I used her for HK. For DF I went with

She has the confident look that suited her role in DF.

My male elf.

I really like the Dragon Age elf lore, particularly the plight of the city elves. Playing a city elf PC for DA:Origins was a rewarding experience. Bioware turned a lot of the elf stereotypes upside down. They're treated like garbage, openly discriminated against by the vast majority of humans, are criticized severely for their appearance, and are beaten down to feel they are the lowest of the low.

The Dalish (or woodland free elves) of Dragon Age have a really interesting story too. I highly recommend playing a dalish elf PC for the most engaging DA: Inquisition experience.

I enjoyed the social status and race treatment in the series. It makes the world a lot more interesting. In contrast I think while there are several races of elves in TES universe they are a bit boring by comparison. The Dark Elves' history is a bit interesting the game and treatment towards your race doesn't compare.

I recommend Shadowrun series if you haven't played that. It is very interesting. There is stereotyping towards each race, particularly non-humans. The idea that the elves, dwarves etc are all just mutations from a human but seeing them treated differently is interesting and fascinating. In Dragonfall there is a quest giver who is actively trying to help non-humans by giving them education, employment and shelter. It goes into racist groups trying to brainwash younger generations into hating non-humans and stuff.

I always play elves when they're available in games... might be an affinity because I'm short or something. :P Both have already been mentioned in this thread, but I dig Shadowrun and Dragon Age elves in particular.

What the heck, that's my art haha. Guess it must've found it's way into one of those custom portrait packs floating around?

This is my dude from Dragonfall:

Elves with a lot of 'ware are my thing, it seems. :X

Need this thread but for dwarves. Seriously the most underrated fantasy race. Those beards, that bad attitude, the axes and hammers. Perfection.

Whao that is awesome. Typically I run around and look for lore friendly portrait packs when I go for replays. >_>
Thanks for providing me with an awesome portrait man. He fits in so damn well.

I think there is something enticing about Elves+Cyberware. The general stereotype of them being nature loving, elegant and beautiful clashes and contrasts so beautifully with the cold metal cyber enhancements. The fact that they are giving up their essence for these artificial upgrades feels so wrong. Its like having a pure being holding a half eaten forbidden fruit. There is a story there, you know it and you want to find out. It just tickles my imagination I guess.
