Games with BAD soundtracks?

Warrior Within.

Even if the other parts of the game didn't suck, I still question whether or not I'd have finished it with that crap playing in the background. I swear they got an angsty 13 year old to do the soundtrack.

It's the same guy who did the soundtrack for every PoP since The Sands of Time: Stuart Chadwood. Yeah, I disliked the WW soundtrack too, but it was rather the gameplay changes after SOT that made me quit playing the game.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please? Thank You.

A nomination this bad needs that. Without further ado, I give you Sonic in his most craprtacular song, Doomsday.

Oh god Huelen, why did you have to post this abomination? The only people that deserve to have their ears bleed from that terrible song are the people who suffered through that game, not the innocent posters in this topic.

Bayonetta had this song so, it's okay in my book.

Indeed, Bayonetta gets a free pass purely because of that Battle for the Umbra Throne song.

The problem with Bayonetta isn't that the music is particularly bad, but there isn't enough music in there. Well, maybe there is, but I have the feeling that 95% of the time, you're listening to the same music over and over, which ultimately becomes annoying, no matter how good the music is.

Thanks for that link. It has such a nostalgic and emotional value for me, Disney cartoons back in the day were fantastic to watch and experience.

Ontopic: I really didn't like the music in New Super Mario Bros Wii, it's not bad, but from a Mario-game, I expected more.

Well, I didn't read the whole thread, so this has probably been mentioned already, but it bears repeating:

San Francisco Rush for the N64: RAVE RUSH The most ridiculously horrible music ever. One magazine I had wrote in their review that the music must have been composed by a tone-deaf llama.

holy crap that is incredible

Bayonetta's Fly Me to the Moon is so fuckin' awful.

The rest of the game's soundtrack is ok though.

Tomb Raider Underworld and Tomb Raider Anniversary. Both incredibly generic with the usual pompous "epic" choirs.
Which is sad because the first 5 games had incredible soundtracks...

Blue Dragon's soundtrack is great in general, but the boss music, though kind of awesome at first, really grates after a while.

Bayonetta.

I liked the game, but the soundtrack was trash.
You shut your whore mouth. Soundtrack of the generation, without a doubt.

FF XII's isn't bad, it's just kind of non-descript and bland.

Valkyria was a much better example of a good, but still traditional Sakimoto soundtrack, IMO.

How did someone say Legendia? Legendia may be a shit game (although the entire franchise is going down that road of endless remake/no return lately) but at it had some solid muzak that wasn't fucking EAR POISON like the rest of the series.

Good lord, that Sonic Chronicles track is so bad.

My vote would be the original Jak and Daxter. It's not offensive so much as it is just flat out boring. Seriously one of the dullest soundtracks I've ever heard. Just a bunch of tribal beats without a tune. The fact that the original trailer used a surprisingly fitting Enya song made it even worse.

This one is a bit unfair. There are some great tracks in that game. The problem lies entirely with the "battle" music, which is stupid and angsty, as you say. The ambient music played while exploring is much better and, sometimes, really good.

Phantasy Star III had some pretty offensive music, especially the battle music. Oh my God it was effing hideous: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ECgWui-MXA

If I remember correctly that one only plays for the initial "encounter" moment, and then changes (not so smoothly) to three different tunes depending on how well you're doing, but yeah, battle music in PS3 isn't very good. Overall though I think PS3 has a decent soundtrack, definitely quite a few memorable tunes in there (off the top of my head - shop, title, town, underground, castle, sky sanctuary). Also appreciate how the overworld music adds layers as your party grows in size.

...speechless. I listened to a few other tracks, how does a soundtrack like this make it into a final product, and a Bioware one at that?

You have my sword. FF12 has an excellent soundtrack.

Almost all the insomniac games on ps3. More than the music (which are rather forgettable) its really the sound design of their games that is bad.

OH SHIT HOW COULD I FORGET

Resident Evil 1: Directors Cut Dual Shock Edition

WHY DID THEY REPLACE THE AWESOME ORIGNAL MUSIC WITH THIS SHIT

(This is unfortunately the only version of RE1 available on PSN...)

This THIS THIS !!!

When i finally got myself a US PSN account to get this game, i was absolutely fucking traumatized by what they did to the music. I had to stop playing as everything just felt so wrong. The music sounded so ultra-tacky :(

I wouldn't call it "bad," but Mass Effect 2's soundtrack is terribly disappointing.

The score for the first game was the best part of the game by far. But in ME2, the soundtrack is totally forgettable and generic action game music with a few '80s era synthesizer sounds tossed in here and there.

I agree that the soundtrack is nowhere near as good as the one in the first one. But there is one piece of music that plays whenever things get a bit more intense that reminds me a lot of the Tintin intro music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKniJb6QYWU&feature=related

Any Mario sport title since the N64 days. Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, etc... Just thinking about these games hurts my ears.

...Okay?

Even so, I would recommend Mario Kart Wii's. I'm not even a big fan of the game.

I was in a Gamestop a few weeks ago when a Bayonetta commercial popped up. I started making an unintelligible sound with my throat and my eyes watered, as I stood there trying to figure out what I had ever done to them.

Any insomniac games game. I can't remember one game of theres with a good soundtrack except possibly R&C ACIT.

You belong in a madhouse. ACiT was the first Ratchet to feature Boris Salchow, the new composer they've got out there now. He certainly fit Resistance 2, and he was certainly good in ACiT, but he could only perform akin to the more melodic pieces in past Ratchets. His in-game world music was nothing compared to the genius - yes, genius - of David Bergeaud's action-orchestro-electronic stuff that was so prominent in Up Your Arsenal, and the other games to a lesser extent.

Wait wait wait...people were saying Bayonetta way before anyone mentioned Warrior Within? Are you kidding me? Godsmack single handedly ruined Prince of Persia for me, and I really loved Sands of Time. Bayonetta on the other hand had a very enjoyable and epic soundtrack, though I could understand people getting slightly annoyed with it.

Hydelide (hullo there Indy repeated for the whole game until the ending where another part of Indy's theme is played, all with a single beeping instrument)

Yoshi's Island DS (So much worse than the original. The music in this game gave me a bad headache.)

Robotrek/Slapstick (The music in this game literally caused me to vomit from the headache it gave me.)

Puzzle Quest (gets an A for effort, that's about it.)

3D Picross's tunes are annoying, too.

WW was released 6 years ago, while Bayonetta was released last month. My ears are still hurt from the latter
's "Fly Me to the Moon"
, while the wounds Godsmack inflicted have already been healed.

Damn I actually thought they really implemented that song well in Bayonetta, but I guess it really bothered more people than I thought.

Well, in my opinion most games are having a bad soundtrack but sometimes you hit that really freaking great game and it's having some of the worse soundtrack you've ever heard.

Example: Jak 2

Evergrace is full of win. Anyone who doesn't like Kota Hoshino's music should just kill himself already.

Also, apparently this is bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2S2_kLodIc
I kinda like it though.
True, there also exists good songs in Evergrace, it's just that Buying goods at Palmira sounds so horrible.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hoshino. I especially adore his work on Armored Core 4. Fall is such a great song.
