Some spam but I used to like what I do
Looks 3D to meNot really. They just look like photographs glued on, there's no depth.
Yes but these textures aren't exactly on par with what's done on PC.
(Perfect Dark Zero) I had a bunch of direct capture screenshots saved somewhere but I can't find them.

Personally, I also think Witcher 2 is one of the most overrated games in looks across the board, textures included.
Decent. That wall looks like it's smeared in vaseline.
In that section, I remember, I tried to grab one of the rock, then I moved the camera and said rock was a flat texture, :lol.Looks 3D to me
than GT5, but none of them come to the detail & authenticity of the gravel textured in GT5
100 IIRC.Holy smokes. How many cars come with Project Cars?
I'd say 60-ish is much more likely; there are around 30 playable at the moment after ~1.5 years of development and around year to go and maybe 30 more licensed, but not started (not necessarily going to be included in the release). They are a relatively small studio after all and working with a budget less than 1/10 of it's bigger comptetitors.100 IIRC.
Jesus, the Racing stripe looks great, but the actual road texture looks awful.
Generic assets just high res'd to hell.

That shoud do anyway, if each of the cars are that detailed.I'd say 60-ish is much more likely; there are around 30 playable at the moment after ~1.5 years of development and around year to go and maybe 30 more licensed, but not started (not necessarily going to be included in the release). Not sure if serious....
Another thing I want to mention again on there being more to good looking textures than having the highest resolution possible.
While the side textures are high res in those Project CARS screens, they looks off.
Those Rumble Strips textures look like something from a Stalker, Half-Life or Metro game & not how they look like in actual race tracks.
The exact same thing can be said about those GT5 shots. We know you have a strong anti PC agenda but still.
GT5 looks very good make no mistake but I don't think it's in the same league as CARS graphics wise. The attention to detail in this game is just ridiculous and I'm not merely talking about texture resolution.
GT5 premium cars are 2nd to none.
That's your opinion, and I disagree. Having played CARS and GT5 I think the former is on another level when it comes to cars models. I genuinely don't think GT5 comes close in that regard.

http://www.examiner.com/article/gt5-500k-polygons-a-carKazunori Yamauchi: “We had maybe 300 polygons in a car in the first game. Now we have about 500,000 polygons in each car.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=31962159&postcount=303We're working to roughly 200,000 polygons for the top LOD exteriors and an additional 50K for the cockpits
Okay then.I am not disagreeing with you. In motion ,in game you are correct. in my head I was comparing gt5 photo mode pics.
Also, I haven't played CARS , hence probably can't appreciate like you can
What's more amazing is that the game operates at 60 fps on consoles at 1280x720 with those same textures you see there.Picked up DMC4 for 2.70 on gmg ad was shocked by how good some of the textures are for an older game. Say what you like about capcom but the MT framework engine is amazing
I actually think the original textures are better because they don't suffer from oversharpening. I don't understand why gamers want extreme sharpness and detail whereas movie fans who want the best visual fidelity turn the sharpness level on their tv's as low as possible.
It doesn't make a game look more realistic, on the contrary. This is just as bad as those old Unreal games where every surface was made of plastic, extreme bloom, piss filters, etc.
Back in the day the textures in the original Phantasy Star Online blew me away on Dreamcast:

Yes...Yes,YES! SEGA really went all out on the Dreamcast when it comes to games.
HOLY FUCK. Project CARS looks incredible...
