Games you felt were actually worth $60

I say Forza 3 and BF:BC2. Great games, cannot get enough of them.
I was feeling like that but the insane amount of lag with dedicated servers is unacceptable. People in the official thread said "Ohh all games are like this the first month online let them iron out all the issues" Well it's been a couple months and the lag has gotten worse. There is way less lag in COD4 a peer to peer online game. Why in the hell does BF:BC2 with dedicated servers have more lag than COD4 a peer to peer online game!?!?!?!?

I think I've gotten those most play time out of Call of Duty 4 the online play is just so fun definitely worth $60 when I consider how much I've played it.

Modern Warfare 2

I'm almost to 14 days of play and now that the the network television season is over my play time is going to increase quite a bit during the week.

Fallout 3
Dragon Age
Persona 4 (even though it wasn't 60 dollars, I sure as hell would have paid 60 for it)
Left 4 Dead 2
Bad Company 2

Fallout 3(paid for the CE + 4 of the 5 DLC) - awesome game
CoD4 - Well worth it for the amount of time I put in multi
Tales of Vesperia - Lots of content and awesome, even though I got used(gamestop's only "new" copy was an opened one )
Uncharted 2 - Would easily justify a $120 game price tag for next gen
FF13 - for the amount of effort they put into the CG. Just got done with CH 10, which everyone hated. I didn't enjoy it but I still like the game
Forza 3 - community features are awesome
Mass Effect 2 - completed everything there is to do and makes me wanna replay ME1 to make sure I do all sidequests just in case
Borderlands - lots of content

With BF:BC2 I had already gotten my 1000/1000 achievements before the lag came in and logged over 50 hours of playtime online so I stopped playing until the DLC came out so I felt I got my money's worth. I haven't been on in a bit to see if it's bad.

All of them. Or, at least the ones I've bought. Had I not thought they were then I wouldn't have bought them.

I am going to focus on games that I would still pay $60 for 3 months after release. There are plenty of games that I don't want to wait for (and therefore pay full price).

360
Mass Effect
Fallout 3
The Orange Box

Coincidentally those are the only three 360 games I have ever paid a full $60 for. I have a few more that I bought for $40-50, and the rest were $5-30.

PS3
Uncharted 2
LittleBigPlanet

Final Fantasy XIII was bought for me at full price. I am a fan of the series, so I would have probably bought it myself at full price, but I wouldn't not recommend anyone doing so now. Not a horrible game, but definitely one of the most disappointing games this generation for me.

I also purchased Demon's Souls and Yakuza 3 at full price to support the companies taking a chance on them, but I have yet you play enough of either to tell if the money was well spent.

Wii (at $50):
Mario Galaxy
Monster Hunter 3 (w/ classic controller pro for $60)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
New Super Mario Bros
Wii Fit ($100) - My wife has actually stuck with Wii Fit (with a the odd break) for the past two years now. Worth the money I would say.

Other Wii games I have purchased at full price were Little King's Story (supporting the little guy again), Smash Bros Brawl, and Super Paper Mario. Paper Mario was the game I picked up with my Wii. Should have picked Twilight Princess instead. Smash was a bit disappointing, and I didn't get the chance to play enough of LKS.

I am much more likely to buy handheld games at full price. Typically $20-30 is the price I like to pay for games unless I really want a title. As you can see, most of my full price purchases are for games with a lot of gameplay hours, or games that my wife would also like to play/watch.

Final Fantasy XIII (although it is was closer to a thousand when combined with the fact I got NA version and the special edition JPN console edition.) Loved the battle system, Lightning, Fang, Vanilla, Sazh and Snow where all great characters I was really surprised by how much I liked them all.

Mario Galaxy 1 and 2.

Metroid Prime 3.

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.

Devil May Cry 4.

Bioshock.

Orange Box.

Metal Gear Solid 4, the over all game probably not so much but Chapter 4 is still the most haunting and chilling moment in a game I have ever played.

Dude you gotta play Demon's Souls NAO!!!!!! while the online community is still strong.

That's what other GAFers told me back in March, and I just dismissed them. Now I can't put down this game. Just like it's official thread title says, it's an addicting RPG full of demon's crack.

without online community you would miss some of the important aspects of Demon's Souls

I think out of all the games I bought this gen, the ones I felt I got the most out of them were:
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Best fan-service game ever!
  • Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Probably my favorite multiplayer game. Already logged in tons of hours.
  • Call of Duty World at War - I felt this was worth it more than Modern Warfare 1 or 2 because of the support from Treyarch with map packs and Nazi zombie games, all for 800pts!
  • Uncharted 2 - Not only it has one of the best single player games, the multiplayer makes it all the more worth it.
  • Final Fantasy XIII - Over 50 hours of gameplay, a lot of quality, high production values.
  • Tales of Vesperia - Also has tons of hours of gameplay and still one of the best JRPGs of this gen, probably my second favorite after FFXIII.
  • Super Street Fighter IV - $60 would've still been worth it but for $40 it's a steal!
  • Metroid Prime Trilogy - Three of the best FPS single player games ever made on one disc!
  • Red Dead Redemption - This game really shows that it was 5 years in the making with a huge budget. It's really an amazing achievement in game design!

Other games that was worth the money:
  • Bayonetta
  • Gears of War 2 GOTY Edition
  • Batman Arkham Asylum
  • Fallout 3 GOTY Edition
  • Oblivion GOTY Edition
  • Resident Evil 5

And now for games that wasn't worth $60, meaning I should've waited for price drops are:
  • Dead Space - I like it but I could've waited to get it later.
  • Darksiders - Same as Dead Space. Great game but it would've been better as a $39.99 game.
  • Tekken 6 - I like it but it's no Street Fighter. I should've waited for a price drop.
  • Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and Split Second - I enjoy arcade racing games but I should've had more patience and wait for price drops for these. I usually never buy racing games at full price but I could'nt wait to play these. Now that I have them...maybe I could've waited. Oh well.
  • Dragon Age - I already had too many RPGs. I could've waited for a price drop.
  • Tatsunoko VS Capcom - Already had Street Fighter IV and tons of fighting games. Maybe I bought this on impulse. Still like the game though.

probably in the minority here for my first in the list but:

FINAL FANTASY XIII - keep in mind I have only played FFVI, VII, and IX from start to finish but I had a lot of fun with it.

Demon's Souls - this is a no brainer, hours upon hours of gameplay, so much customization. can't think of another game this gen where upon dying I wasn't frustrated but ready to correct my mistake.

Valkyria Chronicles - really great SRPG (which we don't get enough of these days) and from Sega no less. even though it received a massive price drop recently I still feel my $60 was well spent, I still pop it in to play from time to time.

Gears of War 1 & 2 - call me a sucker for mindless action but these two games were well worth the price of admission just for the co-op insanity with my friends.

PDZ

I know PDZ gets shit on here but I played the hell out of multiplayer at the time and had a blast co-oping with a friend campagin on hardest difficulty setting.

Both Uncharteds
Dead Rising
GoW3
Both Ratchets
Chromehounds
MAG (I got a LOT of time out of it, probably more once more content finally hits)

Many others fall under "maybe", even more under "I could have bought a lot of shop towels instead".
