For Honor starting to get some good press. I remember back when it was first announced a couple of E3s ago it got very little mention from anyone.
 
Is Dragon Quest Builders a puzzle game? I thought it was a Minecraft survival style game.

Everything else is pretty much expected. A lot of love for For Honor though. Hope it lives up to the promise.
 
I haven't really see anything from Zelda at Gamescom but good on Nintendo for another Best of Show?
 
Horizon wasn't playable at all? Kinda weird

Zelda was playable for Press and limited for public, must have been enough to qualify for the Awards


Nice to see Twisted Pixel up there, after Loco Bycicle and the Split from Microsoft
 
For Honor wins best PS4 game yet loses to Battlefield for best Action game. Some consistency would be nice.

Why so surprised? Did you read the hands-on impressions? The press really loved what they saw and played.


I'd say all the winners seem pretty well deserved!
I didn't see ANYTHING of Zelda, though, not a single video. Did I miss them?... But congrats to Nintendo anyways!
 
Mario Party Star Rush getting best mobile game is great because what else was its competition?

I'm guessing they won't count NC for mobile (make it purely smartphone games) next year because any games would automatically win.

Yup, watched and read all the dev interviews and journalist impressions online. Brian Fargo, Colin McComb, and George Ziets were there. Also surprising was Divinity: Original Sin 2 was there, but no mentions ether. I guess FFXV has more hype surrounding it since it's coming out this year I guess?

I read the hands-on impressions and listened to the dev interviews at GC for Torment. Everyone was super excited.

Was it available for the public to play?

You also need to pay a fee to be considered for the Award, if I remember correctly.

Or maybe they liked Final Fantasy XV more.
 
Congrats to For Honor!

For Honor caught my attention ever since it was revealed and it's hits the notes of what I wanted from a action-melee game with multiplayer.

Nice for Zelda as well even though we really didn't get to see new footage released, hopefully the NX is a Nintendo device that I actually WANT to own so I can actually play this game.

Nice that Horizon:ZD got a award as well even if we didn't see more gameplay it....like Zelda
 
Don't recall Nintendo games winning many "best in show" awards before. Congrats, Zelda. The devs took a big risk altering the formula of Zelda to keep it fresh so it's great to see it working and being received pretty well
 
lol @ best Booth for Mafia 3, they only showed a video in there running in VLC player with a crappy resolution.
There wasn't even a single developer in there and people left early because the presentation was such a joke.

rofl wut...that's hilarious. Guess this gamescom awards thing is purely BS then.
 
I'm going to remain skeptical of Sea of Thieves until release when people are playing outside of 100% ideal circumstances (ala Evolve).

Steep winning best Sports game is interesting. I wonder if it's due to the quality of the game or if they were merely eager to give the award to something other than one of the annual franchises.

For Honor seems to be winning people over and actually looking better as we get closer to release.
