Gamespy Most Wanted Game 2006 = HALO3

Wow, that is one crappy list.

Where the hell is Valkyrie Profile Silmeria? Rogue Galaxy? Ryu Ga Gotoku? Devil Summoner Kuzuonha Raidou? Tales of the Abyss?

What a stupid list. Halo 3 :lol , Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC) :lol Stupid desperate xbox and gc fanboys.

Those stupid fucks. I can't believe Gamecube fanboys are excited about the sequel to one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. Stupid fanboys.

Oh wait, you're a fucking idiot. Nevermind.

Anyhoo, obviously there's stuff that's missing, like the New Super Mario Bros., but most of the games that I would have assumed might be on the list turned out tho be there.

I'm just glad that Zelda was as high as it was. Halo 3 (if it comes out this year, which is doubtful) will most likely be the most popular for 2006.

Edit: Oh, and I'm wondering what Deg's laughing at also.

Halo 3 is as good a choice as any.

And what's with getting upset about random Japanese games not being on the list? Even I'm looking forward to unannounced Playstation 3 games more than anything upcoming on the PS2.

Halo 3 is not a good choice. No features have been announced, and the last one was a collossal disappointment, but don't ask the brainwashed fans that. Like a battered spouse, Halo fans go back. Probably because it's the only decent console FPS out there.

I'm not even a fan of Halo or first person shooters, but the "colossal disappointment" thing is a very small minority opinion.

Highest rated game of 2004, GOTY nominee/winner, over 5 million sold.

It's also been the #1 game on Live every single week since it came out (and still is). "Colossal disappointments" don't have those kinds of legs. The real test for these things is time, and Halo 2 is holding up very, very well.

that's why it's overrated

Maybe it's fanboys in denial? Maybe it's because nobody is willing to do Unreal Championship 2? Halo 2 is widely seen as a disappointment.

They aren't haters, they just suck.

When i don't consider the add ons Aftermath and Burning Crusade, consider the fact, that Huxley will be on the 360 at the same time as on the PC, but Gears of War won't, and if i consider that at rank 3 and 4 are listed PS3 and Revo games , i asume that when we take a look back by the end of 2006, under the 40 best games of this year there will be like 10 pc-games.

I admit that 2006 will be a good year for the pc (better than the highly uninteresing ones before), but not "the year of the pc".

I want to knock down and stomp on the "Reserve Halo 3: Extermination" Sign at the local gamecrazy. I cna't fucking believe they would want Halo 3 that bad, talk about fanboyism.

Halo 3 hype train in chronological order:

1) Some type of official unveiling at E3. We'll see some kind of video like we did of Halo 2 at E3 2003.

2) A Halo movie trailer at the theaters sometime in November (kinda like with The DaVinci Code this past fall).

3) A playable multiplayer level at E3 2007 (like Zanzibar). They will show off the new gameplay features, vehicles, weapons, etc.

4) Halo: The Movie will release sometime around July 15th 2007. There will be some kind of Halo 3 ad before the movie starts.

5) Sometime around September there will be a full advertising blitz with commercials, magazine ads, etc. Halo 3 will also be on the cover of EGM, Game Informer, and Wired.

6) Game is released around 11/1/07.

Oh, and Black being in the top 10 completely nullifies that list.

agree with everything including Nov 2007 release

what i learned today :
Halo 2 was crap and , even though we know nothing about it, not only is it the most anticipated game, it's also going to be total crap.

Most of you have crystal balls, and very small cocks.

Fixed.

Not really in topic, but M$ and bungie can't afford halo 3 to be a more of the same (or slightly better) like halo 2. That would probably kill the franchise.
Back when halo 1 was released it represented some important evolution of the genre in a few ways and it instantly became a classic and a relevant title in videogames history; but the concept stayed exacly the same for halo 2, execution was only marginally better overall and the gameplay started to feel a little too simple.
Now, bungie *needs* to think of something new, something that will make people say "wow, no one has done this before / that's something that just wasn't possible on previous generation consoles (and i'm not talking graphically)".
Either they go *utterly crazy* on graphics, and i mean GOW levels or above, i mean something absolutely astonishing, or they need to think of some revolutionary new feature; i personally hope there's something more to gameplay than shooting this time around. It worked for halo1, kind of worked in 2 but it just won't be enough for halo 3, however well executed, imho.
A similar approach to that used for halo 2 would kill a lot of people's interest in the franchise, i think.

The funny thing is that Halo 2 feels nothing like Halo:CE, they added a patch a few months later to fix that but it only affects the multiplayer

yep, it doesn't feel like halo, but it does nothing new.
Not better / bigger, concept wise, just 'different'.

And btw, i still prefer halo1 multiplayer :)

As an absolute WHORE for the original Halo, it still AMAZES me how many people bought into the marketing for Halo2.

HALO2 IS A FLAMING CHUNK OF SHIT

It lessens my hope for Halo3, a great deal.

With that said, I look forward to it, in hopes of it returning to it's glory.

What could have been. Makes me angry.

Agreed in full on both parts. Halo = worthy of the hype. Halo 2 = most grossly overrated title of the gen.

It's not just the marketing. You'd be surprised how many people come into the store I work at saying Halo 2 is STILL the best thing since sliced bread. I have no fucking idea why.

I own Halo 2, and while I do play it on occasion, it still doesn't beat Halo 1.

The one thing that gets me about Halo 2 is just how stiff the movement is. Navigation feels so rigid and monotonous when compared to Halo CE, and that's the one big issue that bugs me the most. Shitty Single-Player as well... I was hoping for a lot more than what was promised.

Also, with a marketing campaign as effective as Halo 2's, I'm completely unsurprised why people would shill it to this very day. It was just simply ballistic. I'll have to track down the music that was used for the Australian Halo 2 website...

Anyways, hilarious list. It's difficult to take serious when they write something like "04. Games of the Nintendo Revolution", "03. Games of the PlayStation 3". I mean sure, I'm also all hyped up for the next gen Sony and Nintendo, but at least I know what I want from them both, unlike the asskissers over at GS.

This is what amazed me.

They had the formula PERFECTED. Then they went and fucked it all up. It's very similar to what Nintendo did with Mario Kart DD. It just didn't "feel" like Mario-Kart to me.

I won't get into the pistol, and weapon assi-ninity, but it all seemed rushed, and almost programmed by a different team.

Why they chose to change a winning formula still baffles me to no end.
