Gamestop gave me the wrong game...

I ordered a chili cheese burger at Carl's Jr. Got some weird patty melt thing instead.

Later on at a completely different Carl's Jr, exact same thing happened again.

No idea how or why. The patty melt isn't even good plus it's of lower dollar value so God must hate me.
 
Gamestop is full of retards. I've seen them sell controllers without dongles, mix up DS and 3DS games, sell empty cases, sell new editions of Atlus games missing the OST, all sorts of shit

Weirdest thing that ever happened to me personally was buying Pandora's tower and they gave it to me in a yellow sleeve with no case and the PT disc and a disc of Babysitting Mama in it for some reason
 
I was buying Pokemon Colosseum used at Gamestop once and he couldn't find the game, only the preorder Jirachi bonus disc. He sold it to me for $1, then on a hunch, checked a different box and found the actual game too. So I ended up walking out of that store with both the game and the bonus disc!
 
Gamestop lost me as a customer for life when they tried to charge me a $25 refurb fee for the PS3 I was trading in. Like, why tell me that--knowing that I'll immediately reverse my decision--when you knew my intention was to spend ~$500 then and there for a PS4 and a game or two?

I have never tried to make a scene in a store, but I got pretty close this past weekend.

I didn't own a GameCube, so I missed out. I was more interested in playing REmake than Zero, but in my local Gamestop I could only find Zero. So GAF, this ever happen to you? As in getting the wrong game in the box, and maybe coming out on top because of it? This isn't the first time this gamestop has given me the wrong game, but last time it was Lost Planet 2 instead of Left 4 Dead 2.

On a side note, can REmake run in widescreen mode on the Wii U? The system menu is in widescreen, but every game I've played has been 4:3. Just wondering.

That's what you get for buying used...and for not looking at what game they put in your case. It's not like it was sealed and would've been very hard to check out right there in store.

Moral: be a smart consumer, especially at Gamestop, where if you're not paying attention they'll fucking steal your wallet right out of your pocket. Hell just last week a manager there tried to tell me I owed them $5 in tax after paying a game off in credit. I looked right at her and told her I'm not stupid and she got the point pretty quick that I wasn't about to be had and said, never mind. They are shady fuckers but you can only blame yourself if they get you.

Though in your case you seem to be happy they fucked up so good for you. Good FOR you.
 
Over the years there's been a couple times where there was NO game in the case. Thankfully I caught it right away each time.
 
If I were you, I would play and finish remake, then go to Gamestop and complain they gave you the wrong game; then play Zero... (or any other game)

You would be doing the right thing and playing both games.
 
I got sent Ace Attorney: Justice for all instead of trials and tribulations at one point from Amazon.

They gave me a refund and let me keep the game (Even though I already had a copy), so I guess it worked out.
 
Never gotten the wrong game but I don't shop at Gamestop much anymore.

Only thing even remotely similar is years ago when I went to buy Gears of War 2 the lady gave me an opened copy and the disc was scratched to hell. I noticed about 5 minutes later when I took it out of the bag to inspect it. Returned it for a sealed copy no problem. She said that it was the disc they were using on the demo console in store. Seemed like an honest mistake at least.
 
Nope. Accidentally traded in my GCN Ikaruga disc because either I or one of my roommates put it in a different case the one time I neglected to check all of my materials, though.

Needless to say I'm a lot more careful these days.

You called it, but it seems like half the new games I pick up there aren't sealed for some reason or another. It always has me debating for a moment whether I should continue the search or just settle for the open copy.
 
They've always placed the used game disc in the case in front of me. You can also ask to look at the disc if you'd rather not get something scratched up.
 
This same thing happened to me a few years ago when I bought a used copy of the GameCube game Viewtiful Joe.

I brought it home and played it for about 20 minutes and the game was really bad IMO and I couldn't figure out why everyone liked it. It turns out instead of putting a copy of Viewtiful Joe in the game case they must have accidentally put a copy of some Viewtiful Joe spin off fighting game. I would have taken the game back but I didn't realize it was a different game until a few months after the fact.

I never did play Viewtiful Joe
 
Not exactly this but more than a time happened me with officially sealed games find two rare things, the first one was with one music CD, find an empty case, and the other one PSX CD with another game inside both not re-sealed just brand new seales stuff.
 
At my local gamestop, I wanted to buy Viewtiful Joe 2 and found Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble in the case, which is some mediocre Smash Bros spinoff.
But these guys are pretty nice and didn't have any problems with taking it back and refunding money even after a week (that game store was still ~30 miles away and not easily reachable for me)
 
This has actually happened to me before at an EB Games. I went to the checkout with:

Super Paper Mario - Wii
Dead Rising - X360
Rainbow Six Vegas - X360

When I got in the car, I checked my bag. They had given me three copies of Crackdown, a game I had absolutely no interest in. Luckily they were very understanding in sorting it out. I was also once given Super Monkey Ball instead of Super Monkey Ball 2 from the same store.
 
Not too long ago I ordered online and got lucky. One game I ordered was Street Fighter 4 but they sent me capcom essentials which came with Super SF4 instead and it also had a code for Megaman 10. In the same order I also got Infamous collection instead of just infamous.

Also I noticed something fishy when making a bulk order of used games. I had like 7 cheap games in my cart and noticed that there was also a Madden in there before I checked out. I don't think I put that in my cart. I didn't check but I thought maybe Gamestop tries to scam you by throwing in cheap games in your cart when you order a lot so you don't notice.
 
It has happened twice to me, second time I caught it. It happened once when I bought Persona 3 FES but received vanilla Persona 3, didn't noticed until it was too late to return. The other time I bought Wario Land Shake It! but received Warioware Smooth Moves, caught it a couple days later but returned it within the seven day return period.

Now I am extra careful when shopping at Gamestop buying used games.
 
Happened to me once with an independent games shop. I was halfway home with my new copy of Duke Nukem 3D when I checked the disc and realised they had given me the much newer and more expensive Time to Kill instead. Unfortunately I already had TTK so I took it back.

Also when I bought Resi 4 for PS2 they put the limited edition mini strategy guide in the box instead of the game manual. No wonder I didn't know you could run until I was past the village section.
 
I don't know if this has been posted. Unless the person already knew the difference it's really easy to make this mistake. The computer has one as Resident Evil Archives and the other as Resident Evil Archives Res. How they thought that was a good idea is beyond me.
 
Way back in the day I bought Street Fighter: The Movie for the Saturn cheap at Toys R Us. This was back when you pulled the ticket from the game section, paid for it, then brought it and the receipt to the security booth and a guy in there got the actual game and gave it to you. The guy in the booth accidentally gave me Street Fighter Alpha which was brand new and full price at the time. At first I was stoked, but then I ended up bringing it back because I didn't want the booth guy to get in trouble for missing merchandise.
 
I recently found a gamestop that seems to be much better about keeping things sealed so I go there. GS typically isn't great, but they had some good trade offers running lately and I downsized.
 
I have been given the wrong game before (gave me the wrong street fighter edition)

Most of the problems I've had with gamestop is getting ruined discs. Especially in the ps2/xbox era but I still get unreadable ps3/4 games.
 
I've had that happen. I saw a box labelled Wii Sports Resort for three bucks, and the swordfighting looked fun in some videos I've seen, so I had to get it at that price. They gave me the Wii Sports part, but not the Resort part.
