GameStop TLOU PS3->PS4 Trade-In Offer 50% Off

Went to the local GameStop this afternoon to trade in my ps3 version. The person behind the counter knew of the deal but told me I wasn't allowed to trade in the disc until tomorrow, when the game came out. I told her I wanted to preorder since I was there and pay for everything now so I can just pick the game up when I have the time. I'm heading out of town for a week and wasn't going to be able to come until after Aug 2 when the deal expired. She insisted that I couldn't do that, that the offer wasn't good for a preorder and that was that. I was out of luck. From previous posts in this thread I knew that if she would just ring up my version and put it in the computer everything would work itself out. I very nicely asked her just to start the transaction and ring my trade-in in and see what happens. After a really mean look, she did just that, and then vey quietly continued on and got it pre-ordered for me. Victory! Sort of....

I then asked if I could just get the digital version of Remastered. She tried but it's against GameStop policy. I them asked if I picked up the game next week and returned it the following day could I then get the digital version? She said they now put trade on the return receipts and won't allow you to get the digital. She says they have seen that trick and won't allow for it anymore.

Then I almost bought a used OLED Vita for $170. Maybe when I get back in town.

Went last night. Guy behind the counter knew about the deal but was having trouble actually getting it to go through in the computer. Took the manager coming out and putting it in by hand in order for the deal to go through, but I got it. Paid off the other 28 bucks and was told to pick it up today.

So it seems like this deal is valid, but needs a bit of cooperation and technical massaging to get everything to go correctly.

So I'm getting the remastered off of amazon because I forgot I ordered it a while back. Would I be able to go to gamestop and do this trade in, then come back a few hours later, make up an excuse and get the credit back?

I went to Gamestop to preorder this yesterday because of this deal and man that place has sure embraced the pawn shop look compared to last time I was in one. Are they all run down looking now? The actual transaction was fine and I wasn't pressured into preordering stuff or anything which is a nice change from the last time I was there. Now to go pick it up today, can't wait!

I think the more standup way to go about it is to just do the deal at GameStop then return the one you bought from amazon.

edit: fine not fun.

I noticed this too. I thought because I being such a polite pain in the ass she just gave up and wanted me outta there as quick as possible.

Well put. Don't know why I didn't think of this to begin with.

It's funny. While I wasn't pressured into anything (probably because I was dripping with sweat and slumped over, I went after the gym) the guy next to me trading in a 360 was being pressured into buying an XBone to the point where It made me audibly giggle.

So how much am I looking at if I go and trade in my fat 12gb PS3 + TLoU for a PS4 + TLoU Remastered at Gamestop?

I have 10% off discount at WalMart also.

Which would be a better deal?

Did those upgrades actually include more content to their original release?

No, but don't you think that could be priced accordingly?

I wouldn't balk at the idea of paying an additional fee, say, $20 (or $30) to be able to put my PS3 version of TLoU in the system and allow the PS4 digital version to launch... Just like they did with those launch titles.

In more immediately relevant news, I'm headed to Kongregate+Trade my way into a $20 copy.. Wewt

Hah, well apparently the guy who was pleasant to deal with yesterday was new and we can attribute his no pressure, nice customer service approach to that. Went in to pick up my copy today and got asked 4 separate times not if, but what i'd like to preorder. Finally I told him that I typically buy games digitally his response was that 'oh well that will eat up your space and ruin your hard drive' (lmfao). Finally when trying to pay i see on the credit card display that it was asking me to confirm my subscription to something and approve my new rewards card, I then told him I don't want any of that I would simply like to pay for the game to which he became very irritated and passive aggressive about. I payed for the game and got the hell out of there completely reaffirmed in my typical 'no gamestop' stance.

Now to finish off the end of Dead Rising 3 and replay this game, i'm so excited.

Cool gonna try this too.

So anyone try with just the disc only? Still wondering if its a 100% doable thing

I did the case and all so I can't say for that.

And yeah they try soooooo hard to get you to preorder fuckin' everything. Mine was all DESTINY DESTINY DESTINY BRAH

No, but don't you think that could be priced accordingly?

That was my point, are those the actual margins you're looking for here? A new copy of PS3 TLOU is $40 MSRP and the season pass was $20. As far as they're concerned, they're already entirely different SKUs because the scope of the port is actually a remaster. The idea that you could value that extra content's worth over the value of the remastering which still spans the entire game is throwing me for a loop.

LOL when I took my ps3 copy in to get the $25 trade in credit I cancelled my destiny preorder I had paid off in full and the guy behind the counter almost had a heart attack. lol (I didn't tell him that the reason I cancelled was that is around my birthday month and I'm getting it as a gift and also I'm a BBY CGU member so I can get it much cheaper there with money back even)

Oh, and just aso the person I was talking to in this thread knows Gamestop is still accepting Far Cry 4 LE pre-orders. I now have money down on that as well.

Anyone know the trade-in value for Battlefield 4? They're offering 50% extra credit for every game you trade in. Maybe I can get this sucker without paying a dime...

Gamestop is not doing the 50% extra credit (60% with powerup) anymore. They will bring it back in the middle of August for a week or two only. They are now doing a promotion where you do get $15 extra if you bring in two next gen games though.

Took advantage of this deal. Had to check the case and found my Naughty Dog stickers and online pass from the PS3 version I traded in. Kept the stickers, left the pass inside. Also had that Kongregate coupon so I pre-ordered Destiny. Getting ready to start up the game now!

Traded in my post pandemic edition copy today, but I gave them just a disc and kept my steel case. Now I got post pandemic ps4 edition.

I wonder if this is just an American GameStop thing. I did this trade in at EB Games in Vancouver today and the girl behind the counter was totally pleasant and didn't pressure me to preorder anything today. She did however sign me up for an EB Edge account, but only because they take my info when trading Ina game anyways. If I don't want to use it then no harm no foul, didn't take any extra time out of my day.

Sold out completely everywhere in Montreal.

I really have a bad feeling that I'll miss out on this deal :/ I didn't expect this.

I went to a gamestop sunday and the girl at the counter had no idea what i was talking about and offered me 13 bucks for the game. I have the worst luck with them.

Picked up my copy today. Went in, gave my preorder receipt, got out. 3 minutes, just the way I like it.

Jesus Christ, the first 10 minutes of this game. I had forgotten.

Went to the mall first thing in the morning and traded and got ps4 version (Winnipeg), the multiplayer at 60 fps my godddddd so good

Well this is just a huge bummer. All the stores in my area are "sold out". Bullshit. I bet they are just holding them to say, "you shoulda preordered!". All of them are magically getting new shipements tomorrow though, like they really get shipments on weds. You liars!

So sad. I'm the biggest fan and I dont get it on day one. For shame.

Has anybody done this deal to only take it back because they pre-ordered on PSN? Would I be able to return it for the full amount and then preorder Diablo III?

Went yesterday as Gamestop opened. I hate the place with a passion and havent stepped foot in one in years but for TLOU I would do it..especially at this deal.

Second in line, the first guy bought the remaster, 4 people behind me. Trade in my Ps3 version, pay 27 bucks and voila, my ps4 version is in my hands. They asked me if I wanted to pre-order CoD but that's it. I said nope and got out of there. No harm no foul. Incidentally, the guys behind me also requested TLOU Remaster (as they were in a group and were talking about it together)

I think this game may sell pretty damn well.

Went and traded my ps3 copy in. Guy was hesitant to sell me a copy saying he only had enough for preorders, checked and found he had 2 more copies today and let me do the trade in. Used a kongregate coupon and got mine for $20. Seems like this game will sell quite well

Fill out the survey and give him low marks. He tried to rip you off.

I don't know people think this won't sell well. I have heard multiple reports of sold out stores and there was only one copy left when I picked mine up today.

Went in yesterday and got the deal.
Tried to then exchange the disc for a PSN card, but apparently, that wouldn't work because they would take back the $16 bonus on the trade-in. Bummer.
Seems fair. The deal is for trade-in towards a PS4 TLoU.
Damn, walmart by me wouldn't do an exchange (without a receipt) for PSN cards. Going to have to craigslist the damn thing.
So Wal-Mart wouldn't let you return fraud them. Good on them. Play the game instead of failing over and over at flipping attempts. Or trade it off next time Target does a double trade-in value sale.

Hey guys how do i get the coupon to work? They only emailed me a code not a coupon. It also has half a website address in the email to put in the code but I can't make the whole thing out. Can someone link to the site they used to put in the emailed code so I can get my coupon please. Thanks.

Even better gamestop is doing a 60% bonus trade in this month. Just wait two weeks and sell it back to them. You'll probably get around $40 in credit at least.

There is a disc only going for 21 dollars with 17 bids and 10 hours left in an auction. Why don't more people use ebay for used games? You get more on ebay than with temporary special gamestop deals, and its actual cash not funny money.

Because eBay takes time and effort. Also, they take like 15% of your revenue. Gamestop takes no effort and about 15 seconds per game. Now buying used games from eBay, that's awesome.
