On my old PC setup I used a MX1000 that did its job well for years... the paint wore off at the top and the glide pads went missing. There was a problem with my recharge station too, the contacts didn't connect anymore (probably due to wear&tear). Nonetheless, it's a very sturdy mouse that withstood my abuse for a very long time, and aside from visual blemishes it worked flawlessly.
Right now I'm using a wired run-of-the-mill "Premium Optical Wheel mouse" from Logitech on my PowerMac G5. It's good enough for the occasional WoW stint, but I only use it because it would've been thrown away otherwise. On my current PC I use a Cordless Wheel mouse & keyboard combo from the bargain bin since the MX1000 went MIA when I moved my stuff around after the previous PC blew up. I really need to find it.
The Logitech drivers are/were a pain though. Certain revisions would crash when powering down, others wouldn't switch correctly into game mode or forget the shortcuts assigned to one of the 3 billion buttons - and the UI is pretty clunky IMHO. Setpoint.exe had it out for me, showing a messagebox or crashing always at the most inopportune moments. Even if it ran "normally", sometimes memory leaks would pop up. The whole thing feels messy. Best thing is that the autoupdate hasn't worked even once throughout the last few years. Argh.
To put it bluntly:
Logitech hardware - yay!
Logitech software - kill it with orbital bombardment, and then some.
