When you ban a few ppl keep tht same energy with trolls from opposing views. It seems there is some rampant favoritism (and idc if recently some of those ppl recieved warnings). You have huge trolls like Mista (Def a clown must have a mod as a friend) , Arcadia, etc tht spew trolling nonsense and get free passes often. I'm not perfect, I own up to mine and if I get banned for this thts OK but it needed to be said

Stop the favoritism and moderate equally across the board. Let's not be Reset. This place was just as bad before the migration but I was happy it changed but I'm starting to notice things.

Sorry, but I can't buy this rhetoric. I've checked the ban board and these seem pretty justifiable. Also, what's with trash talking people like @Mista ? This all seems like a matter you should have written privately to a mod about rather than making it into a thread.

I agree there is some strange mod decisions. I dont start console wars, havent received any infraction points, and I try put forward information as I understand it. I don't go saying PS 5 is a 9tflop console, or that XSX is brute force. In fact if you read my posts you will see I say there will be hardly any difference between the consoles from an image on screen point of view. That outside of DF zooming in 300x or running a FPS meter, no one will be able to tell. I cant be any more open than that. But because I dared say that Sony looked at Variable Clocks and Smartshift as a part of their thermal and cooling solution for PS5, I got thread banned and a stupid troll header. Here you have the OP, who is one of the biggest PS trolls on GAF, who has been banned for trolling, yet he doesn't have a retarded "report me for trolling" header.
Yeah, I agree OP. The Mods certainly dont treat some posters the same as others here.

In a perfect world anyone demeaning and mocking others would get a few stages of warnings before being quietly shunted off the forum... At no point have I ever expected such consistency, on any forum.

Trolling and poking fun at each other should be part of a community and shouldn't result in week long bans let alone permanent bans. Most of the community doesn't take part in it anyway and they in most case consider it a form of entertainment depending on what side you are.

But I do think there should be some adjustments when it comes to trolling limits and that would fall on the mods to to be quicker and more proactive in setting the standards.

You obviously don't want every thread turning into a troll fest, so a system for threads should be created to determine if the thread is troll level or if it is more a genuine discussion, if it is genuine it should have that in the title to deter trolls, if not its fair game. Also for people that do troll in threats where it isn't allowed bans should be handed out on a 24H-48H-72H basis along with comment deletion and mods should be more trigger happy in those.

Because right now I really can't differentiate a thread from a real discussion and a trolly one, almost every single one of them exhibits both things and that is were some of the bias come across where some get banned and some don't. I literally tried reporting someone for trolling and got a response that it is trolling but its tit-for-tat so its fine. I don't even feel that confident posting in some of these recent threads, even though they have trolly comments as I don't know how Mods will view my post so I just stay out of them and don't post.

There needs to be shithouser and people got to know when and where its allowed it will improve the community and improve discussion, but it means more work for the Mods and I don't know if they want that extra work to moderate the forum. Maybe get more mods or create a new section and call them Troll Mods that only issue short term bans to help out.


TL:DR

Relax rules on trolling by creating flairs(as suggested by Psykodad Psykodad ) for threads that prohibit troll-like comments or allow them and implement bans on a 24h-48h-72h basis for troll comments in prohibited threads to a certain limit.

Something like reddits flairs or whatever it's called would be a good idea.
Like you said, put "no trolls" in the title to set it as a rule.

I also think the community is part of the problem. We've got lots of Karens reporting posts they don't like and then it's up to the mods to agree with them or not.
