Then these threads can be more about the game itself like a proper gaming discussion should be...

Kintaro said:All SNK is doing is limiting themselves by not having all of these across XBLA, PSN, WiiWare and PC with online play. It's are ports with some filters and online play. Put the games on each platform and make people happy. Seriously, it's so goofy.
That said, hooray re-release.
segarr said:Sony may have flat out turned it down.
""We're not interested in filling up our store with games nobody wants to play just so we can say we have more games." -Sony E3 2008
Now it's no surprise XBLA gets more games when Sony goes around saying stuff like that.
Kintaro said:Okay, supposing this is correct (Mortal Kombat II's continued sales and existance on PSN kind of flies in the face of that comment, but okay). What about Wiiware and Steam/GoG etc?

not in AmericaPaco said:I'm surprised they said that seeing as how they have/had a completely open policy for the original Playstation and its successor.
_dementia said:not in America
Yet many 2D games did not make the transition D:Paco said:Especially in America. The original Playstation and Playstation 2 had an abundance of shovelware.
"______ should be released on ______" posts are (or at least were) a ban-worthy offense, and for good reason: they contribute nothing to discussion and instead derail every thread into the stupidest of arguments.shidoshi said:Jesus god. Seriously folks - stop ragging on people for wanting games on other consoles.

shidoshi said:Mortal Kombat II was an early release, and there's no reason for Sony to just take it down once it's already up.
As for Steam, SNK has never been a PC company, so expecting them to suddenly be one is kind of silly. And WiiWare? There's absolutely no point in SNK to put out any effort for WiiWare for these titles when there's no real online community in place to make real use of them. They can just toss up NeoGeo ROMs of stuff like MOTW and KOF'02 and call it a day.
Quoted for the next thread where Wii/360/PSP owners complain.shidoshi said:Jesus god. Seriously folks - stop ragging on people for wanting games on other consoles. That's a perfectly legitimate thing to want, and not everybody can just rush out and buy every piece of gaming hardware like maybe you can.
shidoshi said:Were you not around for the eras of the PlayStation and the PS2? The years and years where we heard rumors/accounts about countless games that were denied release in the US due to SCEA?
I disagree with a number of the rules around here: this is one of them.
Paco said:I'm not talking about their import policy. I was commenting on their statement that "they don't want a bunch of games that people won't play." It's about choice, that which powered the original Playstation and PS2. It's just weird to see Sony continue to contradict everything that made them such a powerful brand in the first place.

shidoshi said:Well, but what I'm saying is, in the case of at least SCEA, they've had policies for what games they do and don't approve that don't make a lick of sense since back in the days of the original PlayStation. Sony not wanting certain types of games because it "doesn't fit their image" has gone on since Sony (supposedly, of course, since I don't think they ever truly admitted it) didn't want 2D games on the PS1 because they wanted to push the idea of 3D.
There have been numerous cases over all three of their consoles where they made decisions about what games people do or don't want to play, and they've been stupid decisions a lot of the time. So, the way I see it, they aren't contradicting anything: this is what Sony (again, I'm talking SCEA specifically) has always been.
My feeling? I bet that Sony hates that Mortal Kombat II is up in the store and is a big seller. *laughs* If you take a look at some of their early PSN games we got - Gauntlet II, Super Sprint, etc. - they don't at all fit in with what seems to be Sony's attitude towards PSN, and we've not really seen releases like that ever again. They were probably desperate for content to get up, and they took what they could get at the time. Now they can be more picky, so they are.

Thanks for making me aware of that again. It does explain why we have very little old school games but make up for it with great newer games like PJ or flower/flow/etc.shidoshi said:Well, but what I'm saying is, in the case of at least SCEA, they've had policies for what games they do and don't approve that don't make a lick of sense since back in the days of the original PlayStation.
