Gay game?

Also, the fact is, games are made to make money. If companies don't feel there is a large enough market to tap into - they aren't going to bother. I have no idea how many people are gay in this world or not, but apparently these companies don't feel there is a large enough market to create said content. Once they do, I am sure they will make said games.

Also, I'm not sure if I speak for the majority of gays - I'm not sure I have ever had a totally normal opinion - but I hate being marketed to. I have never turned on that gay cable channel, even out of curiosity. I couldn't even tell you offhand what it's called. I didn't like Queer Eye, either, though my parents did. Maybe it's just that I'm that much of an oddball, but the whole movement smacks of white heterosexuals baiting us so they can laugh at our antics.. and I feel sorry for those who actually fall for it.

hahah - like that music label with only gay artists :lol
i think its called MUSIC WITH A TWIST - like wtf!

i thought queer eye was prety funny actally - the dude that looks like ellen was hilarious :)

Go ahead, duck behind that old "freedom of messg. boards" chestnut. I don't recall, anywhere in Mihyaeru's first post, him asking whether or not anyone would play or had any interest in playing his ideal game.

:lol

Nobody said their wasn't games out their to suit most people's tastes. Mihyaeru only stated how what with the mainstream acceptance Brokeback Mountain has received and huge leaps and bounds in progress that has been made in the movie industry in reagard to such content, he hopes it could translate into the gaming industry as well.

That should have been your first post.

I'm not ducking behind anything. My opinion is as valid as anyone else's here. Keep your fascism to yourself please. I will say what I like as long as it doesn't violate the TOS, which none of my posts in here do. Deal with it.

Also, I don't give a flying fuck what you think my first post should be. No one gives two shits what you think they should post. Respect other peoples opinions or STFU please.

Simply put, most homosexual oriented programming carries with it the burden of facing society's issues, much like attempts at racial representation on television, which is widely percieved to have culminated with the success of the Cosby show. In a medium as entertainment-oriented as video games, there will probably not be any Cosby show equivalent. In the rare occasion that I turn on the TV, I don't watch cultural documentaries on the gay movement. I watch Family Guy. When I flip on a PS2, I just want to play some Guitar Hero, not be bombarded intellectual ponderings, or heavy issues that will probably make me uncomfortable. Those kill the mood, and certainly aren't fun. I'll leave the current social issues to literature and personal debates, where they are more appropriately handled.

While its certainly not what you're looking for...I think Hard Gay just got his own game

Sorry for being off-topic in the thread, but holy crap, that is just fucking awesome. If they bring him to the localised version, I will definitely start playing Albatross18. Otherwise, I'll have to sign up for the Japanese version and hope they accept overseas CCs.

"Hey-a Luigi! It's-a me, Mario!"

"Mario, you-a cought me at a bad-a time. My dick is a-hard."

"........ HERE WE GOOOOOO!"
*Makes peace sign*

Absolutely childish, I know. But I feel giddy thinking about it.

.... Wait...

Hear, hear. 100% of gay culture absolutely digusts me, and I'd wager than gay gamers out there are just as much outsiders as I am.

wtf? You get Hard Gay who's cool and gay, one of the few who could pull it off, and you reject him? That is NOT cool.

Haha, I am saying hard gay is awesome and even if that is not what this thread is about I am happy to hear he has a game! I myself was a wrestler (but not the "entertainment" kind, the sport) in school plust I am gay and I love watching WWE/funny shit so ya hard gay = pure classicness IMO.

You aren't looking for role models in a videogames store because you have already been exposed to role models and don't need to see any more.
Or maybe he's not looking for role models in a video game because it would be pathetic to do so. Most people aren't so insecure that they need to look for support from underdeveloped, fictional characters.

Well I won't say that most of gay culture disgusts me, but there's a lot about it that I can usually understand but not get into (if that makes any sense). I like flipping to Logo every now and then (that's the gay station sonarrat:)). I've gone back and forth with the whole gay acceptance thing so much it's just gotten tired. Watching Logo is an immersive thing for me, kind of a comfort when I'm in a "Wish I wasn't" mood. I'm glad I can get that from somewhere.

To reply to the original post I'd personally like to see a side story in an RPG tackle a gay relationship or character. And not just in the "wink wink, nudge nudge" way like in Shadow Hearts. Hell the Final Fantasy games have had so many useless side characters they didn't know how to develop that a gay relationship would at least be an interesting alternative to most of the shit they've done.

I certainly don't have a gay agenda to push, I just believe a mature portrayal of gay characters could reflect themes and issues - like isolation and confusion - that anyone could relate to. Isn't that what TV, movies, debates, books, etc. do anyway, find unique ways to present and spark conversation about the same emotions, problems, and experiences we all deal with? I don't know why videogames should be any different. That's just me though, maybe I expect too much out of things.
