Is it worth getting the ultimate edition on X1?

I don't get the season pass, there will be 24 maps for private play, but will there be any maps for public play in the season pass or do we have to pay for them?

All maps will be available to the public in matchmaking. The Coalition will rotate the maps, so you will not always play the same new DLC maps or other DLC maps will be gone for months. If you want to play your favorite in private matches or in Horde, you need to buy it or own the season pass.

Ah ok, thanks, no i will not play much private, but it seems like the season pass is still worth it then.

Yes all maps are free. But maps are on a rotation. If they out of the rotation you can still play them with the season pass in private mode.

Just to comment on the rotation. We plan on releasing two new maps every month. We didn't want overwhelm players especially as we get 6 - 12 months down the road with 22 - 34 maps that they needed to be familiar with to be successful. We plan on taking community feedback on what maps they want in and out and constantly rotating them. As long as you own the map, you can play that map in privates in Horde, Versus, Co-op vs Bots. If a someone owns a map, that person can host and share among everyone else even if they don't own it. This also includes spectators who just want to watch and may not own the map.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the SP to help clear things up.

• The SP offers access to 24 post launch DLC maps at anytime in private play. We plan to release 2 per month. The maps can be used in private play even if they aren't in the playlist rotation. They do not expire and this isn't a subscription for one year. You will have them forever.
  
• The SP also offers access to the Developer Playlist which will give you early access to the maps prior to them being released and in their own special playlist. You can try them out before others and match against others owners of the SP on this playlist.
  
• It also includes an Airdrop that includes 5 Operations Packs, 5 Versus Boosters, 5 Horde Boosters and 2 Elite Packs. 85 cards in total. This replaces the six pack offer and kicks it up to 17. Text is still being updated at retailers.

• Versus Boosters include five random consumable Bounties for use in Versus MP. Versus Bounties offer XP rewards for completing the bounties objective in a Versus match. If you fail the bounties objective, they are not consumed. They are only consumed if you succeed.

Yes all maps are free. But maps are on a rotation. If they out of the rotation you can still play them with the season pass in private mode.

No, competitive is different unless you are hosting private matches and want people with different control types in it.

This is the only thing bothering me at the moment is how much of a difference KB+M players will have and what the population for competitive will actually be like on PC.

I thought about that too but gears has always had a pretty damn good dedicated community, you will definitely have people bail for the flavor of the month as that's just the nature of many gamers.

But hell I'm sure coalition are paying very close attention to this because after the beta they made lots of strides to correct things, get enough people to ask for the ability to set a "using controller" option in the options to set your control scheme to stay fixed on the controller (even if you move the mouse or touch the keyboard) and let people on PC play with X1/controller players constantly.

Personally setting up a dedicated NeoGAF server isn't going to hurt though

Would agree on every FPS game. But Gears is imo quite different in movement etc.That a M&K has less of a impact then alot of other shooters.

I think a player with a mouse using the gnasher will have a huge advantage over a player with a controller and gnasher.

I actually don't think so. Although my experience probably differs from the others as I don't have a lot of time in gears MP.

Edit: Have you even seen some of the other female characters? The biggest reason is shes smaller in size (not a massive dudebro hulk) and missing the shoulderpads, which more or less all the others have. Calm down.
The men are massive sexy muscle dudes and the girls have a bit sexier uniform, but give me a break already. They're not in bikinis.

Since its announcement, I knew that we wouldn't a critically lauded Gears game. Gears has never been a game that innovates much, and critics are much more harsh this generation for some reason.

I was certain that the best we would get is a A+ Gears game, but not necessarily an A+ game all around. I was completely okay with that.

Who knows how it'll do. I wasn't really expecting much, but all these people who got their hands on it early are deliberately trying to make it seem like predictions like mine are wrong, like we should expect more. People always do this kinda stuff though...

I'm still not sure we'll get 90+ MC, but I'm positive we'll get a stellar Gears of War game, and I couldn't ask for anything else.

Uc4 went above 90+. gears (the OG trilogy) never dropped under 90 right? I'm confident this is gonna be a hit critically and commercially even though I don't know shit about gears.

It sounds like anything matchmaking is whatever the current maps are. You'll need the season pass and host a game if you want them all.
