Child of Eden - More fun with Kinect (/Move), but easier with a controller.
... and Xbox 360 World Magazine said the title was to be officially unveiled at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Certainly bodes well for their Nextbox rumours.![]()
How are less precise controls (which at times bugs out) more fun? (Referring to Kinect only)

I really, really hope it's a new UT game on Unreal engine 4.
Rise of Nightmares is worth playing too. Crazy story and visuals, good music and fun combat. Only real drag is horrendous navigation.Since there are a few people in here who seem to want to have a conversation about Kinect more broadly (and since there's no actual news in the OP -- a game we knew was cancelled was announced as having been cancelled with no further information on what it ever was), I thought I'd list the Kinect software I've played.
I'll bold the games I recommend to people in the game's target audience
Here are the games I've played on Kinect:
Kinect Adventures - Fun diversion
Kinect Sports - Not quite as well executed as Wii Sports, still fairly enjoyable
Kinect Joy Ride
Kinectimals - Really adorable for young kids
Dance Central - Excellent dance game
Michael Jackson: The Experience
Child of Eden - More fun with Kinect (/Move), but easier with a controller.
The Gunstringer - Hilarious, and hardcore mode is just about as difficult as anything on the platform
Fruit Ninja Kinect - Great re-imagining of the game, fun in two-player
Hole in the Wall - Presentation is quite poor, but it's a great workout
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire 2012
The Adventures of Tintin - I do recommend this game but the Kinect mode is a sort of throwaway extra
Dance Central 2 - Massive improvement to the original in all respects, excellent two-player mode.
Once Upon a Monster - Really adorable for young kids
Disneyland Adventures - Spectacular for young kids, probably one of the most content-heavy games released this generation, would take 100+ hours to finish. Visually stunning.
Double Fine Happy Action Theatre - Hilarious, especially while drinking
Mass Effect 3 - I do recommend this game, and the Kinect voice detection is well implemented but ultimately superfluous.
Leadmees
Haunt - Good execution of Kinect walking controls.
(+ the free Kinect Fun Labs stuff which range from enjoyable novelties to stupid and broken)
In the future I'm looking forward to Crimson Dragon and Wreckateer. Maybe Steel Battalion.
More than a dozen recommended titles in a year and a bit ain't bad. On the whole, I'd say most of the experiences I've had with Kinect have fallen into a relatively limited range of game designs. But if you stick to what's well executed and have an open mind to different types of game, you'll find good stuff there. I don't think it replaces all other systems or anything foolish like that, but if you own a Kinect and you're wondering what you should be playing, my advice would just be to actually try stuff. There are a lot of demos out there. Maybe something will catch your attention. This is true for most platforms that people complain about, to be honest.

Has there even been a successfully add on that offered so little use? Hardly any software has come out for kinect. Its been a huge dissappointment to me.
That is more down to developers trying to best handle such a new way of interacting with the game. There are elegant and inelegant ways of dealing with players leaving and joining and menu navigation, and the likes of Harmonix and Double Fine have created standards that really should be duplicated elsewhere. Then issue with Kinect is it doesn't fuckin work half the time. Especially when trying to have multiple people join, leave come back etc. With one person who knows what they are doing its ok but at a party most of the time you need a driver to get the games set up.
Can't blame them, the Kinect is an interesting prototype but the hardware they released is in no shape or form ready for commercial use. Even for casual games it's extremely hit & miss so trying to implement it into a serious-business shooter would have been horrific.
It reminds me very much of the Wii at launch - only they were able to release a little dongle to 'fix' the wiimote. I'd happily pay for the missing dedicated cpu dongle if it got it running at full resolution again (at the moment it's half resolution due to the USB data speeds right?).
Why is it always the brave games that get cancelled![]()
