Genshin Impact |OT| 4.0 (Fontaine) - Je m'appelle "la baleine"

For the new weekly, there's an achievement for avoiding being hit while affected by bond of life for the entire fight and I got a 2nd achievement as I was fighting since I was using Yae turrets the entire fight to avoid being hit. Apparently when she goes into one wing mode at half HP, hit her 3 times with ranged attacks to get it.

I did Arles trial and the coolest thing is holding attack down after a charge attack and she just starts… flying?! lol that’s really cool. If I didn’t already have a good map exploration team, I would be tempted to pull just for this.

She floats over water while doing it too, like Neuvi's cannon. It's been a joy running the overworld with her. Probably one of the best overworld characters we got in a while. Between her and Cloud Retainer you have all that you need. And it's not even tied to a skill, just stamina.

Here's an example of the endgame pose you get for doing that new endgame mode:

Wowee, how exciting. It's not even a full animation, just a static pose for taking pictures.

*edit* full Chlorinde kit in english (click to go to album or use hover arrows to cycle through images):

*edit2 Sige's kit in english, same deal:

They both sound pretty cool.

Clorinde's ability changes her NAs to electro shots, which grant BoL upon hit. She can't be healed during this time, but any healing is instead converted to additional BoL. Activate the ability again and all BoL is consumed and she performs an empowered thrust attack and heals herself. The burst is just a multi-attack thing, probably similar to Keqing's.

Sounds like Siggy can trap enemies in her bubbles like I hoped. Sounds fun, but likely not very impactful. Otherwise she's a semi-offensive healer that boosts other characters' off-field damage. She will probably be pretty strong and flexible.

Their charged attacks are interesting too. Clorinde dashes and shoots her gun in a fan pattern. Sigewinne seems to shoot homing Hydro missiles as she charges her bow. Will those keep appearing as long as she doesn't fire her arrow? I wonder how important those are to their kits. They're unique regardless.

Clorinde supposedly wants Thundering Fury, so Imma throw all artifacts into that strongbox. Not sure what Siggy wants and I'm lacking a good weapon for her too. Might finally use that pity on the weapon banner for her bow if her banner companion isn't too bad.

Yea I hated BoL on paper, but in practice it's a big nothingburger. If anything it just wants you to use shielders again which is fine by me. Chlorinde is an easy pull for me, but after reading and thinking about it I might actually pull for Sige too. I'll spend some time in her trial in 4.7 to figure out if it feels good to play her.

After Arle alleviated some fears, I have to say that Chlorinde's kit sounds pretty active and fun to play.

Seeing how BoL was implemented on Arle definitely soothed my fears for the mechanic. And Arle specifically was designed to be a glass cannon. It will literally not matter on Siggy and Clorinde has that self-heal, so I don't expect any issues with her either.

Here's the materials required for the 4.7 characters:

Interestingly they use older weekly boss materials. Initially I thought this was a mistake on the leakers' part, but I assume they made this change to allow for easier simultaneous building of characters. Pretty smart. I get to use old materials that were just rotting away on my account and makes it much easier to prepare for them. Anyways, looks like I'm going on another jellyfish genocide to feed the two ladies.

I think at least the weekly boss mats were just placeholders. There's no way they're gonna release 3 new characters that all do not use Arle's weekly boss mats. Though, the Narwhal has been a constant pain in my ass by bottlenecking several characters at once, so maybe they're taking pity on us? Doesn't sound like MHY though.

Well that was fast:

That's what I thought too, but multiple reliable sources have all given the exact same info, so I assume it's correct. Besides, the icons for Arle's mats are already in the live version of the game and widely found online. There's no particular need to use placeholders.

So maybe I'm getting ahead of things, but I actually think they're shifting things around with regards to boss materials.

I mean for maybe 1 of them not to use it, but 3 brand new characters all not using Arle? I don't believe it. I mean there's no harm in farming the bosses anyways since you can only waste 1 fight per week if it ends up not being true, but it just makes no sense.

Chlorinde animations:

Yeah it would make more sense if at least one of them did use Knave's mats. It almost makes that fight irrelevant if they don't. I happen to have tons of those Apep drops lying around, and since it's one of the three most recent bosses I still do it weekly for the Billets. No skin off my back if this ends up fake, but it would be a good change IMO.

Those animations look absolutely fantastic for both of them. I feel like they're on a completely different level. Can't wait.

To be fair, every new weekly is always a bottleneck for the first few months.

Doomposting has begun: Clorinde only applies Electro once during her burst and Sigewinne only applies Hydro twice with her entire kit (Once for the skill, once for the burst). I assume this will get fixed in the future.

I mean the Burst for Chlorinde sounded to me just like a cool looking move you use to reset BoL and heal or whatever. Plenty of characters have a big one hitter Burst that doesn't do much. Her elemental skill seems like the bread and butter of her kit and there looked to be tons of Electro applied on it. Sige has to be bugged if she's doing physical damage with all of those moves.

So I heard that a new area dropped so came back to check and got Arle in the process. What is this BoL mechanic and how does it work?
Basically (for her) it's in her skill, and it adds a self-buff meter that goes over your HP bar (you'll see the red outline). While it's active, she cannot be healed by healer and she will have Pyro infusion and some buffs. It remains even if you swap her out/in and synergizes well with shields to mitigate the anti-healing. She can then heal herself and clear the BoL by using her Burst.

It's meant to be a risk/reward type mechanic but since it works with shields there's literally no downside in my opinion. Two upcoming characters will also mess with Bond of Life but in a slightly different way. Essentially at its core it just blocks direct healing and offers some benefits.

*edit*

Worth mentioning I think at C0 you have to use the skill then hit an enemy and then use a charge attack to apply the Pyro infuse. I have her at C2 where it's already good to go when you use the skill.

They're finally doing this. It was annoying having to leave abyss and re-enter if you want to change teams.

Still need to be able to change equipment form the abyss character select screen though. Hopefully that's in the works.

Ok since HSR thread doesn't seem to be very active

If you don't mind just click here . I need 5 people to click in there to get the HSR anniversary rewards https://act.hoyoverse.com/sr/event/...l_hide_status_bar=true&hyl_auth_required=true
Just tried it, and it said it expired.

Here's some Chlorinde gameplay. So her BoL works differently from Arle. When she's in her elemental skill stance, the shots build up BoL and then the dashes clear it (and presumably do more damage depending on how much BoL was absorbed.)

Interesting take on the pre-traveler lore in Genshin. I agree with most of his points.

Dragon Era

  • 7 Dragon Sovereigns rule the planet
  • Phanes descends, creates his 4 Shades (Life/Death/Time/Space) & defeats the 7 Dragon Sovereigns

Cycle of Hyperborea

  • Unified Human Civilization (?Hyperborea) spreads across the planet. They use Enkanomiyan-style architecture & communicated with Phanes & Shades directly. Per Enjou, "no gods walked amongst humanity at this time". Humanity lived directly under the true sky as the Firmament/False sky hadn't been built yet
  • The Second Who Came (Unclear if Nibelung is this being, or the 3rd Descender) arrives & fights Phanes, "the heavens capsized and the earth was ripped asunder" with Enkanomiya falling underground. Teyvat is barely hospitable post-war as it is covered in raw elements
  • Celestia creates the False Sky, the Sun, Moons, "Weight"

Cycle of Natlantis

  • Humanity is reseeded inside the Firmament, led by Divine Envoys (Seelies),
  • Natleantean-era human civilisations (AKA the Tiara civilisations like Sal Vindagnyr, Old-Tsurumi etc) follow a preset plan for language, architecture, science etc. Enjou finds history of this era homogenous & boring
  • The Light Prince/3rd Descender/Nibelung arrives with Forbidden Knowledge & convinces humanity to commit Mortal Arrogation. The Seelies & Moon Sisters side with them.
  • Phanes is crippled, but the rebellion fails, Tiara civilisations are Nailed (?to halt the spread of Forbidden Knowledge), Seelies are fired, 3rd Descender is chopped into Gnoses, & the Moon Sisters die. Only heavily metaphorical records like the Pale Princess books survive due to Irminsul tampering
    • Khaenriah is founded sometime after Sal Vindagnyr is nailed. Crimson Moon dynasty begins
  • Speculation: the Shade of Space becomes the "Sustainer of Heavenly Principles" in Phanes' absence
  • Not content with the Nailing, Celestia sends down a massive flood that washes away remaining Natlantean civilisations. Humanity devolves into barbarism

Cycle of Remuria

  • The modern gods (Decarabian, Orobashi, Remus, Barbatos, Amun, Morax etc) take over the role of guiding humanity, creating many new civilisations
    • Remus & Deshret discover survivors of the previous cycle Era (Sybilla, Nabu Malikata)
  • Phanes and the "one who came after" create the Gnoses together from the 3rd Descender's corpse, then force the Archon War to start. Humanity starts gaining visions during this time.
  • The Travellers arrive in orbit around Teyvat

Cycle of Khraun-Arya

  • Age of the Seven Archons
  • Eclipse dynasty replaces the Crimson Moon dynasty
  • Travellers finally hit Teyvat
  • Cataclysm
  • 500 years pass
  • You wake up & rescue Paimon

Does Arle's quest/The Knave fight take place in the new area? I was thinking of saving it entirely for 4.7 when I get the new characters, but I also don't want to miss out on the drops.

Quest starts close to the statue of the seven in the new area to unlock the new area fully.

You can use the notebook for the weekly boss fight if nothing else.

Holy shit! I started the new world quest tonight to get far enough to open the Arle material boss and ended up getting sucked in. The new area is aesthetically gorgeous, and they really did a great job with the music this time, considering the theme of the quest. I love how the one part where you're traveling with the whale has music that starts out one way and builds into something totally different and then has a satisfying payoff at the end. Not to mention the lore for this one has been 10/10. Can't wait to see the ending.

Reminded me of that old-ish game Journey where you're traveling through the desert and they sync up the music perfectly with what's going on, on-screen. I complain a LOT about this game, but MHY really got this quest right. I've been blown away for most of it. It got late unfortunately so I'll have to finish the rest tomorrow.
