First of her kind, wants to find her past, trying to make sense of her world, all of these add up to an adaptation of a Major that isn't as cold nor stern as the film's interpretation. Given that across each medium she seems to change, this is one aspect of her character I don't mind them putting their own touch in even if it's pretty cliched. I guess the writers decided it'd be easier for audiences to relate to her in this way.

Production design continues to impress, but the way it's framed and shot doesn't always do it much favours.

I'm continually surprised how much they took from the source material without much alteration (besides the fact that she and Batou are white now). Some of that is shot-for-shot from the original film. It's to their credit that you could show me a lot of this footage without telling me what it is and I would know it was GitS.

Doubtful. They've danced around it and given she has a bit of an identity crisis it's probably part of her story that she's nameless. I have a feeling we might get a flashback, maybe in literal flashes too.

Googled to confirm Tricky (haven't really been following production), and found this pic from last day of shooting. Mamoru Oshii and Kenji Kawai (og Gits composer) in there. This gives me hope even if they weren't directly involved.

She's not actually naked, Motoko Kusanagi mainly wears a skintight outfit that looks flesh colored. MK's only really naked during the shelling scene.

Of course as an Asian American myself I am incredibly disappointed the Major wasn't portrayed by an Asian American actress. However, I can't deny that outside of a few weird green screen shots this looks really cool.
