Ghostbusters Trailer 2

Trailer was much better than the original. Instead of making me hate the movie like the first trailer did, I might actually watch it now.

It looks flat out bland and boring. I have no issue with having female leads but I would have preferred it be cast a bit different. Mickinnon may be the saving grace, she screams ghostbuster but the rest look un-enthused to be there.

It just feels unneeded similar to RoboCop being remade/rebooted. There was a rumor years ago about a much darker ghostbusters movie that had Pratt and was going to take a darker turn but that turned out to be false.

I love Ghostbusters but I just am not feeling this one. It has some things that interest me but it looks like a by the numbers remake with a cast that looks bored.

I could be wrong and I will wait until I can redbox it. I don't get out to the movies often anymore and won't rush out to see this unless the trailers are a complete mistelling of what to expect.

Good thing it's not a horror film and is a comedy then? None of the other Ghostbusters films or shows have been scary.

This is probably just due to being young but I genuinely found the librarian a bit creepy. Also the guardians or whatever they are called again. More so the librarian though.

They were PG flicks though and aimed happily at kids. Though the target audience like Star Wars and Gremlins ended up all ages. Gremlins 1 maybe a bit more older kids and teenagers, and adults. The second though went far more comedy.

I still see the first film having lite horror elements chucked in for sure. Just incredibly light by today's standards.

I guess you're just going to skip explaining the connections, so I'll just pretend you did

1. You're probably going to compare McKinnon's character to Ramis', despite the fact that McKinnon's personality is diametric to Ramis' in the films, and is an engineer. The closest comparison between the two is that she has the hair of cartoon Egon.
2. None of the characters have Murray's character's personality. I see a lot of people suggesting that McKinnon or Wiig are Murray (which really kind of exemplifies why the idea of them being genderswaps of the original is silly), but there's really nothing there.
3. I could see Wiig being Akyroyd, but the connection is super slim - she is just the lead type. She's as much the Wiig of the movie as she is the Leonardo of the movie.
4. Jones and Hudson are black, that's pretty much it

Er.

McCarthy = Ackroyd. Chubby goofy clumsy one.
Wiig = Ramis. Uptight hardcore theoretical scientist.
McKinnin = Murray. The "charming" one.
Jones = Hudson. The black nonscientist who joins LttP.

It's rather obvious.

It's rather obvious.

But none of the characters are actually anything like the previous four Ghostbusters.

So it ain't that obvious.

I mean, it's obvious you're seeing something there. It's not obvious what you're seeing is accurate at all.

But then again, that's part of the problem with trying to judge an entire movie off 3 minutes of footage.

You know, I'm wondering why Sony removed the trailer from YouTube as its not showing in their uploads - the ComicBook uploader had to be substituted in their place. Wonder if it might be because they knew it was gonna be downvoted to startoff with, so they're letting that video take the hits?

I dunno....I'm just baffled as they originally had it listed for a very short period....

Wow this looks so bad. The effects on Ghostbusters 1 and 2 look better than these. This is a comedy?

Of course it is. So are the originals comedies. Although the argument I made is for the most part the originals were nuanced humour, not so much low ball.

The special effects here look much better but for me it's kind of like comparing Terminator 2 to modern effects. Something in that era just rocked, where as these days we see technical magic but often heavily overdone.

"Is it a race thing? Or a lady thing?"

I mean this one really confused me because... sure, people not catching her but catching Melissa McCarthy could be a race thing.

But who wouldn't catch a stage-diver because they were a woman? And we just saw them catch another woman so...

I mean the joke doesn't even make sense. It's like a meaningless catchphrase kind of thing...

Real nitpicky though. Movie looks average/mediocre to me, but pending reviews I might see it in theaters based on the franchise.

It's not like I just put the names together and that's it.
I've listed the commonalities.

McCarthy is Ackroyd - the genuinely enthusiastic about the paranormal character
Wiig is Peter - the horny cynic/non-believer
McKinnon is Egon - the strange tech geek
Jones is Hudson - the black everyman

Not totally 1:1 but that is absolutely how its going to play out. Whether the new crew actually ends up being more than flat, one-note characters the trailers are portarying is yet to be seen.

No, you listed what you think the commonalities are.

You don't actually know what you're talking about. You have an idea. An inkling. You have an impression based on two commercials worth of advertising.

Here's a guy who read the screenplay:

Drew McWeeny said:
They're not meant to simply be female versions of Venkman, Spengler, Stantz, and Zeddmore. Instead, these are totally different characters in a similar type of situation.

There have been a couple different plot synopses and sum-ups that have floated since the project got underway. In none of them can you draw a one-to-one (even vaguely) from these characters to the previous, outside of the most meaninglessly superficial (the black one, the one with the hair that kinda reminds me of the cartoon)

That was certainly better than Trailer 1, but the jokes are mostly still falling flat for me (especially Hemsworth's lines) and I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the super-bright neon ghosts.

The selfie joke was solid.

I am sort of looking forward to the new TMNT but then every single time I get excited for it I remember who is directing it.

I can't actually think of any Michael Bay films that I like much, but I'm weirdly excited for that film too. It's just nice that Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady actually look like Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady.

I'm really liking that wispy, neon effect on the ghosts.

Same, I especially really like the big, inflatable one. Definitely getting a Ghostbusters vibe from them. And a bit of a Scooby Doo vibe as well, but I'm fine with that. They're similar vibes.

Well the new trailer didn't make the movie look like it would be any good. I don't know what I was expecting it to be able to do at this point.

Vastly better trailer but I'm left lukewarm to most of the jokes. The last joke was the only good gag. This is an improvement over hating all of the jokes from the first trailer.

While the comedy is mediocre. The special effects are great and it looks like the plot will be decent.

Looked better than the first trailer. Some of the action looks pretty damn iffy to me, though. CG on the ghosts looks great. All of the other CG and green screening, not so much.

Fluorescent Garbage.

This trailer IS better than the first one but the first one was literally awful.
It still looks like a poorly conceived, poorly realised rehash that nobody asked for and nobody really wants.

I hope they cap it off with a dubstep remix of the Ray Parker Jr. theme song.

OK cool. You have to wonder why they've unambiguously shown these exact personally traits in every footage so far then.

17,000 dislikes to 3,000 likes holy balls can't believe the hate this is getting lol I for one will give it a chance just for the cameos cause you know Murry will deliver hilarity hahaha

That was a good trailer.

The whole dislike situation is bloody embarrassing.

I personally (I know I will be in the minority for this) can't understand how one can say this looks awful and turn around and say the original ghostbusters were great/fun/funny etc. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug

Or how THIS film will RUIN the ghosbusters franchise AND their childhood, but not the terribad sequel or animated series

Disliking the trailer is a meme at this point. I'm guessing people who usually don't press like or dislike no Youtube trailers are disliking it, simply because it's a thing now.
