Ghostbusters Trailer 2

Certainly the original Ghostbusters had them actually being wary and afraid of the ghosts, starting right off with their approach to the library ghost. Here it becomes a projectile vomit gag where half the cast stands around watching and declaring it funny/awesome.

For that scene they mashed up two different scenes from the original (Library ghost + Venkman getting slimed in their first gig), which i guess basically makes the intention of the library scene be completely absent from it. Then again, them running away scared from the library was a joke too.

I've been steering clear of the trailers to a degree, only watching the previous one in parts. But I watched this trailer in its entirety, and it was tragic. Just terrible, from Bill Murray to this :/

Every modern movie trailer, man. If you want to see what I call "the-movie-in-the-trailer" effect, check out the first one for Jem and the Holograms.

More films should be like Star Wars. That trailer gave away no story details at all and was actually super misleading in regards to who the main characters were and what their traits were. We didn't even know if Finn or Rey would be the Jedi.

But I'm assuming that Ghostbusters really needs to show more to win people over, considering how people have already decided it's going to suck.

I want to like it but it's just not clicking for me. Ultimately I realize I want the nice balance of broad with sly humour of the original with very, very dry wit.

This is looking like its all broad humour thus far and that's too much of one tone for what I'd like to see in a Ghostbusters movie.

Cast seems fine in principle but the jokes seem mostly obvious and flat (looks nice and colourful though).

It's also looking a lot more like a remake from that trailer too which is also a trifle disappointing.

Will wait for reviews now but I'm shifting from giving it a watch in theaters to picking it up on demand later.

Still looks terrible but the selfie scene got a grin from me though the pointless race scene with Patty when the crowd let's her fall after crowd surfing McCarthy balances it out. The attempts to reference the original film also fell flat to me as it was just a reminder of how much better that film was. The original Ghostbusters was lightning in a bottle and neither the sequel or the reboot have lived up to it's legacy.

That trailer was pretty okay, there were a few dumb moments but it was mostly good. Why the hell did they show Hemsworth getting possessed though?

Better trailer than the first one but still not amazing? Effects and ghosts actually look awesome but the comedy didn't do much for me. Could be just all the meh jokes are in the trailer though. The crowd surfing joke was also a bit weird since it clearly couldn't be a gender thing (given McCarthy had no issue surfing) but whatever :P

I dunno, man. Looks pretty bad.

It doesn't look great, but it doesn't look like the worst movie ever - doesn't deserve to be at a 17% like-dislike, people are disliking to be dicks, no matter what they do, people will take their time to be a bandwagoner and get this to be a dislike story again.

Looks pretty bad. It's baffling to me why this movie has become such a lightning rod. Looks like a normal, sub-par comedy.

Had me chuckling a few times.

Of course is still has a trillion downvotes. The actual quality of the trailer is irrelevant.

It's clearly just an internet thing to do now. Whether sexist, not sexist, ghostbuster fan or not, black or white, skub or anti-skub...

We can all be united in the meme of thumbs-downing the latest Ghostbuster trailer.

It's pretty obviously what this movie is such a lightning rod tho

Much better trailer than the first, I actually laughed this time. Liked some of the newer ghost models they showed, but I still hate that glowy crap. Needed more McKinnon though, I feel that she'll be the best of them.

First trailer really put me off, but I think this new one brought me back. But if that synopsis that I read about the movie is true and still like that, then yikes. The ending will tick me off.

Well that's 3 out of 3 flops for me. It was nice to at least get some action shots this time, but colour me still unimpressed. Not even a titter at the jokes.

Although this comment made me chuckle:

Remember when Winston got hit by a train and he yelled "IS IT A BLACK THING OR A MAN THING BECAUSE I MAD!" Such a classic line...

It's a joke to the viewers, but it's not a joke to the characters.

And Venkman getting slimed was also very different. It was suspenseful, and scary to Venkman, up until the point Stantz rounds the corner, and then it's just dry humor over their differing thoughts on the encounter.

This new movie looks to be playing almost every moment for base laughs. Everything is irreverently sarcastic (as someone else said), endless quips said to no one in particular (aka effectively said to the audience), and crank everything to 11. It's the modern Hollywood comedy model.

Well, that's not really relevant aside from some hurt feelings. I think the movie will still do great box office, which is what really counts.

Not that bad. It is obvious there is more going on than just another mediocre Hollywood remake.

It's a fucking trailer.

Looks awful imo :\

This movie is going to be carried by younger and/or international audiences who never saw the original Ghostbusters and don't give a shit about muh nostalgia.

Like me.

The jokes are like the dialled-in skits that rushed writers have to pull out of their ass to make a deadline for a late night comedy show. There's no subtlety or finesse. It's just loud and predictable.

Can I critique the trailer gaf? I don't want to be labeled as a sexist gamergater or something.

I think the effects are ok. The jokes not so much.

I hate how they just rip off the original movie without it being an actual sequel. It's very disrespectful. This just misses the mark completely.

I mean I disliked the trailer because I thought it wasn't a good trailer guess that makes me a dick and a bandwagon hater. I consistently like or dislike movie trailers I liked or don't like so this is nothing new for me.

I don't know. I haven't seen the support from the younger generations either. Currently is at number 84 on the top 100 from IMDB, so far the biggest supporters of this film are sites like "The Mary Sue" and "Filmrejects"

gotta say... this trailer was better.
still doesn't look good, but it at least looks like something I could put on when bored on a weds night for the heck of it now.

It's a fucking trailer.

problem is it could just be piling on for fun now. There's no way to know if its continued sexism, genuine dislike (and given this looks pretty weak next to original there will be some genuine dislikes in there or just plain old "this is the joke now" herd mentality.

Watching it again I do worry they showed so much of the plot: that's normally not a confident sign.

What other remakes have received hate campaigns of this magnitude? Ghostbusters already had a shitty followup in 2.

There's obviously something more going on here.

I don't think there has been a remake of a film as beloved as Ghostbusters. It would be like remaking Back to the Future for a lot of people. How would you feel about a remake of Back to the Future?

Back to the Future (2017)

Starring Channing Tatum & Bernie Sanders

Apathetic? They missed their chance, last year was the year to do it.

When there is a product I don't want to buy I don't whip up a huge campaign to hate on it, if that's what you're asking.

I just ignore products that I don't want. Seems like a way healthier response.
