GI: BT headsets won't work with PS4, USB headset support requires post-launch update

I was going to be getting a headset for my ps4 as well. This is kinda wtf... Sony need to clarify what is going on and why. Pretty innexcusable that at the very least Sony branded headsets would not work at launch.

To be fair, the Pulses will work with the PS4, they'll just do so as a standard pair of stereo headphones. I use them with just about everything, they're still a great pair of headphones.

Hmmm....damn, I just found my official PS3 BT headset. However doesnt the controller have both 3.5mm jack and a mic?

Wait the DS4 has a headphone jack on the bottom, right? You can use the Pulse that way until they get the USB wireless working.

Everybody will be using these:

My ear is already throbbing in pain just from looking at that.

I just bought one of those official PS3 Bluetooth in-ear pieces for GTA5 assuming it would work fine with the PS4.

There's gotta be some miscommunication here.

Thanks Killthee for quoting me and making this thread!

I was guessing in the previous thread that maybe all the light bar info is gobbling up the Bluetooth bandwidth. Its possible that having an extra Bluetooth device attached introduces some lag or interference.

Unless there's some insanely convoluted setup to them, changing a simple LED colour should be incredibly simple.

I thought we already knew this. Hopefully, it doesn't take too long because Killzone is begging for my Pulse Elite.
BT support being dropped is new I believe and USB v chat requiring a post launch update was announced yesterday via Astro's statement.

Maybe they're just dumping all BT accessory support. The PS3 BT remote also isn't compatible with the PS4.

It has a jack and a speaker, no mic.

Yeah but won't you be able to use other wired headsets that are like standard issuance nowadays? I have like 4... iPhone headset, Vita headset, Xperia Z headset, Skullcandy $10 headset

That has to be wrong. The official non-pulse, non-elite headset was demoed and in use.

It is not mentioned in that list, and uses BT for chat as far as I know.

Well this sucks somewhat. I guess I can run my headphones off the controller correct? Otherwise I'll end up connecting to my sound system and then wired to my headphones. My current setup can't allow for my 5.1 system to be utilized, but I at least have my amp at least accepts optical audio.

Hmm, but you can't connect the Pulse headset to PS3 as a BT device. The dongle is required... So I'm not sure what is being said here.

Oh there's no wired version? Hmm...yeah WTF, how did they show off PS4's with Pulse Headsets and even show displays causing people to associate the compatibility of the PS3 Pulse Headset with PS4...

Same here. It was my Father's Day present from wife. I guess we'll just have to be patient.

Me three. I am just going to return them now since I have only had them for 60ish days rather than run the risk of Sony saying they can't figure out how to support them down the line. I sure as white ain't going to spend $150 on something I can't use on my Ps4.

I wonder when their PS4 Pulse headset will be announced. I was going to hopefully pick up the elite version during the holidays but I will be holding off for now.

I guess i'm just going to be using the supplied headset (if you can even call it that) until i get an update for my trittons. Sounds like i'll be able to get game sound via my trittons via optical, so i'm thinking i'll use a combo of the 2.

BT headsets don't work? So essentially the exact same thing that MS did when they announced their wireless headsets won't work... I hate this piece of news.

(If MS had announced the same announcement, they'd have been raked over the coals alive)

Any headset with a 3.5mm jack will work; since you can plug it into the controller.

The Pulse Elite headset has that option.

Sony needs to comment as this third hand account doesn't seem to jive. I can understand some special features not working but unless this thing doesn't have Bluetooth (which it is supposed to), I see no reason why it would not support any headset with a generic Bluetooth headset profile.

Sucks I can't use my Astro's day 1 like I can with my ps3.
Isn't the headset jack on the DualShock 4 the same as the one on the Xbox 360 controller? Anyone with an Astro system should be fine.

Even if it's a 3.5mm jack, even my Astro A40 System from 2009 came with the adapters to make that work.
