GI July Cover Revealed: Infamous 2

I thought the electricity coursing through his body had something to do with the lack of hair?

I thought Cole couldn't shower? How is he going to wash that new head of hair? Dreads with hot dog arm incoming for Infamous 3?

Not a fan of the new look. I fail to see how it is less "generic" then his previous design. Now he looks like a generic comic book hero (like a third tier x-man or something) and that douche smirk undermines my hope in a darker sequel. I liked that Cole was a darker character, uncomfortable with his powers, regardless of his karmic orientation. The reveal of his new voice will probably make or break the tone of the game.

Also, the gunners on rooftops seem to indicate that the world the game takes place in will afford many similar gameplay elements. I love the platforming and city traversal in InFamous, but would like to see some deviation from generic thug with gun with the odd semi-super here and there.

I know, I know, one picture . . . but as the first media reveal for a sequel to an established first party franchise I don't think it is inappropriate to make some judgements.
 
I have to say I like it more. It's certainly a step up from the middle aged, albino, cancer patient with emphysema from the first. Although, this model looks like it should be starring in the next twilight film.

Thus another great question is added to the endless list of super hero mysteries! Is the Thing's thing made of rock? Can Superman's semen kill a bitch? Can Cole McGrath shower? :lol

Why does it matter if what we see at E3 is 'new' or not? We've not seen any of the announced or rumored games in motion (GT5 aside), and we'll more than likely see gameplay of KZ3, LBP2, inFamous 2, et al there.

I've never gotten the whole idea behind people wanting to be surprised at E3. I'd much rather know what's happening going in, and finally get to see what we've only seen concept art on.

it looks like paris to me to be honest or new orleans with the church in the back and the buildings.

Ha! In the first game bystanders comment on your smell when you run past them. Cole can't touch guns, drive cars or shower.

The bald pale look, while generic, was somewhat Powder-like I guess. Kessler was pretty pale (and bald) as well, if I recall correctly.

Paris was also the first city that came to mind when seeing that. The rooftops, etc...

The Saboteur proved that Paris is a great setting for an open world game...at least in combination with the pulpy WWII stuff they had going on.

It looks like Bourbon Street in New Orleans to me.
 
what would be the point of developing Cole's character they way they did and building up the coming events only to do a prequel or alternate timeline story? I'd be pretty disappointed.

but it wont fit the story right unless they want to go international with this ..?
also amsterdam rooftops are almost similair to the rooftops seen in that image.
 
I get the feeling it's a New Orleans based city. Nate Fox seemed to show quite a bit of interest in capturing the feel of "post Katrina" when talking about Empire City being under quarantine in interviews for the first InFamous.
 
Remember, they changed ratchet's voice between the 1st and 2nd games, and that turned out for the better. who knows, perhaps this new cole will be a far more interesting character.
 
Don't know who the hell that is on the cover, but whatever. The first one was great fun, and easily the best open world game I've ever played. This will come home as soon as it hits the shelf.

Just because we know they exist doesn't mean they're not gonna be in the show and impress.

I like how even the GI cover has thugs on rooftops sniping you, probably the thing that annoyed me most in the first game. Off to a great start!
 
Like his new look, though I wasn't a big fan of the first game (i.e. enemies with 100% accuracy even when you aren't in their sight, enemies that go running across the city just to attack you...reminds me of the Resistance 2 debacle with the Chimeras that avoided every other non-playable character shooting at them, just to run towards were you were hidden, stand next to you and beat you to death)........but I'll keep an eye out.

Haven't we already known about most of those? LBP2 has been in the works for a while said one of the devs a long time back. InFAMOUS was blown by the voice guy saying something. KZ3 I think was just assumed but I swear in some interview the team said something about it ages ago. Motorstorm 3 I haven't heard anything about it though.

I think these big sequels were sort of already known by hearsay and such and/or were already assumed to be in production. I mean really, would anybody have been surprised by any of these announcements?

I'm sure the conference will be sales, sequel montage, 2 new IP, and then Move, Move, Move, Move, Move. Similar to the MS conference IMO except replace sequel montage with live gameplay sequences that last too long.

OT: I'm extremely excited for this. InFAMOUS was one of my favorite games on the PS3 and easily in my top 5. I would love to see actual cutscenes this round though ... I dug the comic style at first but 1/2 way through wish I could have seen all those things they were showing instead of just a picture. I wonder how they are going to do the powers this round and what they'll add.

I hope they use LBP 2 to present their sales numbers. What is the exact date and time of their conference?
