I'm not sure about the sequel but in the first one if you held down the run button and didn't move you started running in place and got a little boost at first, not at all like Mario. It made it difficult (for me) to make jumps from small platforms and whatnot because I wasn't used to that.

Okay I understand what you mean. Yeah, you start zoomin off quick from that run animation. It takes a little bit of getting used to but I got over it pretty quickly.

If that's your biggest issue with the game, you really should try and go back to it because it has so many awesome things to offer.

I think they just start running at full speed with no build up. It is a little weird when your trying to time something

I still loved the first one, just haven't picked up the second yet.

That might be it. It was just not at all what I usually get out of my platformers.

Listened to Powerbombcast Ep2 on my trip. Was a great episode and I'm now following Xavier Woods on Twitter. Crazy to think he already had a modest run on TNA yet is still just young enough to begin a career on the main WWE shows if he ever gets brought up.

Also having now listened to the Bombcast with the ad I'm firmly in the "prefer it" train even as a subscriber. It's actually another comedic "bit" they can do and I think it works well. Looking back, it did seem weird that I've listened to a ton of other podcasts that weren't even close to the popularity of the Bombcast yet they all had or got ads over time.

Tumblr continues to bring the most passive/aggressive questions. At the next PAX panel they should forgo the audience Q&A and just read the most awkward questions from Jeff and Patrick's tumblers.

Anonymous asked:

Why were you so into rap as a kid? You were super middle class weren't you? You being into NWA and whatnot is pretty creepy. Was it just you feeling as an outcast?

Patrick, can't help feel that because your association with your former mentor Stephen Totilo that you overlook some of the bad journalism that Kotaku do i.e. an article on how Blood Dragon is homophobic, calling out developers in a immature way like they did with Dragon's Crown (which I not fan of the game), etc. I reckon if you weren't in Giantbomb, you would work for that site. Am I right? If you don't respond, I have a feeling I have a point.

So did anyone call Jeff out on the Killzone: Mercenary control issue? I mean, he did go into the game settings to up the sensitivity and then realise that you can turn off tap rear touch to run?

Did he also miss the tutorial where they explain that tapping circle is also run?

Kinda want to e-mail the bombcast but whenever they make mistakes like this, the torrent of corrections usually gets frowned upon...

He knew there was a run button. Had an issue with resting his hands on the touch pad. so I am guessing he didn't realise you could turn it off.

Go ahead and email but I doubt that will change his opinion either of Killzone or FPS on handhelds in general.

Am I the only one who was really annoyed by the Wonderful 101 QL? Sold the game way shorter than it actually is, frustrating to watch them fail and fail, and overall did a poor job at showcasing what the game was.

Dear god!

If we're posting giantbomb songs now...
It's actually kind of amazing how many giantbomb community video stuff there is out there. I can't think of any video game website community with the same output.

Sorry if I've clicked past it, but the only song I've actually bought after it was used by GB.

There were some, but seeing that it was played by Vinny most people didn't care.

If it was brad though...

Vinny said he didn't know enough about the game, him playing badly was his fault, and he's eager to learn and play more.

These are not qualities Brad is known for in quicklooks.

The ceteris paribus comparison doesn't really hold.

Eh, still kinda holds true. If brad was the one playing his attitude will most like gett in the way like it usually does.

I didn't really mean to say that there isn't a reason why if those two swtiched places it would result in completely different opinions. Their attitudes are fundamentally pretty differrent.

Though I also have to say brad does get some shit for stuff just based on reputation alone.

I know, it's just that it seems to be the single thing he complained about in terms of controls. I think it's a decent game, not amazing, just good but it's a shame to have it dismissed just to one (customisable) quirk.

Funny thing, go back and watch some of his Killzone 2 and early Killzone 3 videos, and Jeff is really psyched about them. Guess the latter part and ending of 3 killed his love of the franchise.

Wonder how the Vita TV will affect Jeff's opinion of Vita games. At least he can play them the way he prefers, but probably still won't be happy with the graphics.

Actually, I could see Patrick fitting in nicely with Kotaku's current state. Obviously huge chunks of the site are dogshit still, but the "longreads" (ugh) are pretty much the features that Patrick does now on Giant Bomb.

Actually, that fills another chunk of the bizarro negaverse where GB doesn't exist. This includes Brad at Polygon, Jeff at Penny Arcade and Vinny as an Oscar winning film editor.

Reading these makes me even more glad that Giant Bomb exists.

Though now we'll never see Vinny make an acceptance speech :(

What's going on with the Premium RSS feed? The last item to show up in it for me was last weeks Box Office Bomb- no add-free Bombcast, no Powerbombcast. I keep re-adding the feed to Pocketcasts, but it doesn't help

Gotta say... as much as I love Jeff, him usually not being on A.M. is for the better. He completely dominated that conversation. Felt almost more like a Jar Time with moderators.

That said, I really liked the show. I'm always into Giantbomb going full on srs bsns game discussion.

Yeah felt that way too, surprised at the lack of football talk seeing as this weekend would have been pretty hilarious for those doing fantasy football

It was more the tone. "Kotaku is shit, you would really fit in there, if you don't reply it proves I am right!".
