GM going back to their roots: New 2010 Chevy Camaro

It's like Americans need to be re-trained in what to look for in a car. Right now it seems to be size and number of cupholders.

At least Ford gets it. making a car small, cheap, high-quality, and fun to drive.

the original car its based off, the australian VE Commodore, doesn't have those disgusting bonnet nose flares or the garish pontiac front intakes. I still don't think it's the most beautiful car going around but its a heck of a lot better than the pontiac iteration

Not even the new G8? It figured to be in direct competition with the BMW 5 series as one of the better rear wheel drive sedans out there (and by some accounts, possibly the best in it's class), but now it's future is in question with Pontiac looking to scale down.

Some pictures of the G8.

It's definitely a shift in the right direction.[/QUOTE]
Considering what people are bitching about the camaro, the G8 would be even worse to them.

Heh, I remember Ford Fiestas looking like this:

Change is good. Ford's had a good run since the Focus, I used to hate thier cars too.

:lol Here we go with this domesticated four door crap. This isn't a family car thread. This is about sports and muscle. Leave your baby seats outside before entering.

It's also about folks like you encouraging garbage autos.

Amazing looking car, we need more muscle cars to offset the shitty Versas and Yaris that pollute our city streets.

I think it's the best looking American Muscle car from the last 30 years. The Ford Mustang looks horrible, and the Challenger isn't that good looking either.

However, this car has been first shown like, what, 4 years ago? By the time this car actually comes out I'll be bored with it.

Yeah, I wonder why they do that.

Also considering that it's been in development at least two or three years before they even showed it four years ago.

This thread is hillarious.

25mpg for a car that gets 310 horse?
Thats fucking great.

My 99 Cobra gets about 18 average, and only has 10 more horse.

Keep your Prius and whatever cars you want to drive that have no soul.

American Muscle +1.

THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T BUY GM STOCKS. Used car sales are going up because people are strapped for cash, not because they're pining for some slipshod retro piece of shit. This car isn't going to sell. This car isn't going to save GM. This car is completely unoriginal, uninspired, and symbolic of the kind of jackassery that's been going on in Detroit for decades. That bailout money is used to make a bonfire. GM is dead. It's just a matter of time. I hope they park this piece of shit on their grave so those in the future will have a clear understanding of why this turd of a company went under. Anyone liking this is a fool IMO. I don't see people lining up in droves to buy antiques that actually look better than this cheap knockoff. What makes anyone think slapping a new coat of paint on a turd will change things? PEACE.

EDIT: BTW, don't buy a word from the domestic car rags for the next couple of years. Much like the "Buy American" days in the late 80's, and early 90's, the rags are in the pocket of the domestic manufacturers. It's not in their best interest to see Detroit go down b/c their business goes down. If you want an opinion on these cars, do your own road test. I'm in Miami, so we usually see new cars before the rest of the country. These "retro" cars look ass in person. Then again, you put some plasticky piece of shit next to a candy-painted donk at the lights and you're losing every time.

Cocaine is a helluva drug.

I'm buying one as soon as I can actually manage a test drive/ find a car with the options packages I want, so this entire thread is great to me. :lol

I sold my GM stock, did you? I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I had a hard-on for the IROC Z-28 (which my neighbor has and still tracks) and I loved the hatchback Mustang GT 5.0 from the early 90's. Nostalgia has no place in common sense. GM is fucking dead, and if you think shit like this is an actual solution, then you deserve to go bankrupt with them.

To me, it seems like the love in this thread is a mix of misplaced nostalgia, and teenaged angst. Neither meshes with the reality. The cars are ugly, are still poorly-constructed pieces of shit and MOST IMPORTANTLY, aren't selling. I've said it forever, and now it seems like the end has finally come. LOL as I dance on their grave. PEACE.

EDIT: Oh yeah, let me know when a domestic can make a mid-engine convertible roadster for under $24,000 that gets 30+mpg on the highway and only weighs 2,100lbs. Yeah...I marvel at the wonders of Detroit engineering *snicker*.

Subjective. But if you mean it in the sense that "there aren't a lot of people who are searching for a car with that design", then you're probably right and it supports your argument that GM is in trouble.

I'm wondering though if producing this car isn't the better option of the two. This car was shown in 2005 or 2006. Like somebody said earlier in this thread, probably a year or 3 when into the development of this car before that. So that makes a total of 6 or 7 years of developing this car. I wonder if scrapping the whole project isn't more costly than producing it, even if it's only for 5 years or so.

there are plenty of cars like that for sale in America, and they sell well. This car is not geared towards that. This car is not being sold to the young couple looking to start a family, or the 19 year old college student. Its being sold to the 60 year old retiree who wants a car to drive around on weekends while he cruises for the 22 year old hot blonde he's going to leave his wife for.

I personally think it looks awesome

Dodge Challenger
Camero
Mustang

Dig the hell out of them all. Only redesign I think it total shit, is the new current Charger ....I mean what the fuck!?

Yeah, this is almost as abhorrent as the 80's Pontiac "Le Mans"

You aint gonna pic up no 22 year olds in an old fashion Camaro junker. Better invest in a Tesla Roadster or a foreign sports car.

Also whats with the retarded looking interior? Why can't american car companies make interiors like this:

Try a 40 year old since they the only ones who know wtf a Camaro is.

You are wrong, completely and totally wrong. When you pull up and the pipes on that sexy beast are a rumblin, tail will come. If you drive it, tail will come.

That looks hideous. Its like from some shitty sci-fi design.

Then again I think most new cars look like garbage.

On point GM is expecting the new Camaro to move 100,000 units this year.
I doubt that number, I think it will be closer to half that number for this year.

But if the Challenger is anything to go by, its moving absolutely terribly for dodge.
The only people buying them are the collectors, and then putting them away.

The same v6 model has been at my local dealer for over a year now.
No one wants that.

Then again GM can just keep taking our money because there is nothing we can really do about it.

Also I was never stupid enough to buy GM stock.

Hmm, I'm not a big fan of that kinda design either, all though it looks a gazillion times better than most American interiors, if only for the better build quality and the lack of hard plastics.

But personally, I find the "classic" European car design the best: it has all the instruments in front of the driver (not the middle), but it still follows the basic symmetrical design for both the passenger and driver side of the car.

I do like that look also, but I much prefer the interiors of Jaguars. Classy yet modern.

Sorry, didn't mean to anger the Yaris club. This reminds me of a funny quote:

You keep on keepin' on brah.

It's got more wood than a pack of teenagers looking at nudes of Jessica Biel. Shit's hideous.

Give the Cobalt a new body and put a higher MPG and higher HP diesel in the Camaro. This shit has fail written all over it. Especially when gas goes up this summer.

It's called luxary. Which doesn't belong in this thread anyway. :p
