God dammit Yusuf Mehdi

Maybe he's like Louis Litt from Suits. Constantly says and does dumb shit, but is actually a genuinely committed and hard worker, with a lot of passion for his company.

Thats great.... when you are not the head of Marketing for a division.

He is unsuitable for his role. Point blank, period. When he opens his mouth he either evokes contempt, anger or ridicule.

We are all allowed to make mistakes, but this guys has been making bad public judgment calls for the past year and half nearly.

Time for him to go. He is probably very good at his main role, which is creating advertising strategy, but he needs to be as far in the background as humanly possible.

Haha, that's awesome.
I didn't know any company rep who will re-tweet a message containing inflamatory word like "Jap", let alone not checking that the pic in question does not even contain Japanese people, or even real people.

That is until Yusuf Mehdi.

To be fair, he didn't retweet it, only replied to it.

Hahaha!

"Thanks for sharing"... really?

Regardless of the pic...

...It says "Jap"(instead of JPN)!

You don't say thanks for racial slurs

smh

still a racial slur

JPN works just as well

despite that, I can still see the humor in the tweet.

Forza 5 crowd is genius!

An abbreviation with a period to indicate the abbreviation is hardly a racial/ethnic slur. Do you understand what a slur is? The abbreviation may be offensive to some, but it's not a racial slur. The definition of a racial slur is "a derogatory or disrespectful nickname for a racial group, used without restraint." The use of "Jap." in that tweet indicates no insulting implications. I'm Japanese and I'm not offended by that usage one bit.

It usually is not inflamatory in most places in years. Its used as an abbrviation some times. heck, I may be mistaken but im.pretty sure they themselves use it in articles.

This.

The full stop surprisingly makes a hell of a difference, Jap. crowds is clearly "Japanese crowds" not "Japs", "The Japs" or XYZ variation.

Anyway, this thread/tweet is perfect.

It's a slur if you're told it's a slur, or you were part of the WW2 time travelling soldier program. To be fair I think it's mainly an american thing.

This pic probably really brightened Mehdi's mood.
It's great when such a simple act of kindness can help someone get through their dreary day.

I think it's in everyone's best interest if this discussion not continue. It's barely even relevant to the thread.

Let's go back to laughing at poor Yusuf, eh?

The fact that the "party" is made of Forza crowd sprites just makes this so joyous. I can't stop laughing.

(are the Forza crowd avatars just members of the dev team?)

Yeap. However, many of the sprites/developers are actually duplicated over and over.

He's obviously just dismissing the pic without sounding like it bothered him much, if that was his response to a real launch crowd it would sound like he didn't care much about the launch (which he probably don't considering how US centric the console has been so far)

Any bets on the number of hours until he deletes that tweet?

I will set the over/under at 8 hrs. He's probably operating in Seattle time (PST) right now and still has a couple hrs to realize his mistake before bed. If not, he will probably get told to delete it tomorrow AM since it has language that can be construed as a racial slur and MS wants none of that.

? The guy is just playing along obviously. :s
Definitely, I can't believe people don't get it, it would be the worst and most jaded response to a console launch ever if he was serious.

great pic. thx for sharing

I mean, come on now

Not really.
It's Yusuf. He is clearly serious.
If he was serious, it would be a "Cool for you. Now stop bothering me. I'm eating." response. He just sounds too jaded, it's an anti-hype reply in a situation like this when everything you say usually end with !!! and/or :D etc. If you would go into a Driveclub hype-train thread and say "great vid. thx for sharing." when everyone are going nuts over a new awesome HD video people would know what you really meant. To me it's a masked and sour "Whatever." response. But maybe that's the way he really is :P

Agreed. It would be much worse if he wasn't serious. Why call attention to a tweet that is making fun of the launch of XBONE in Japan? The launch is already gonna be challenging without him adding fuel to the fire.

You actually have a point there, hmm :/ awful PR work on so many levels if he's serious, as if it isn't bad enough to launch the console a year later for no reason
